I've been thinking about doing the same thing with my horizon libraries. If iMIDI can do the same thing as the performance tool, then it must be so much more practical.
Did it take a long time to reprogram? Was it much work? I clearly see the benefit, but due to my general lazyness in practical matters I doubt that I have your patience and motivation to actually do the job
Hi Jonatan,
it took me quite some time to do it. I also did it in my spare time, so I couldn't work on the reprogramming everyday.
The thing is, at the beginning I din't know how to do it.
It was tiring because there was no description on how to do it. Yes there is something written in the manual, but it was only rudimentary with no details.
So I made a scheme and wrote down what sample had to go where. That was tiring too :) I made it for every instrument up to the woodwinds.
Because I didn't know the GS3 editor that well, I did the reprogramming the " hard " way, mapping all the samples manually sample by sample.
Now this took time, and my right hand did not forgive me for that until today I believe :) The good thing is that now I know my way around in GS editor.
Later on I thought that there should be a way to do it without so much hassle, so I tried the wizard of the editor and for every instrument except one it worked like a charm. So when manually doing it took me about 2 hours for one instrument including testing if every sample is mapped correctly, with the wizard for the same amount of time I could do 4-5 instruments with testing.
Also, I wanted the iMIDI instruments to be backwardscompatible so the original programming from VSL ( filter, envelopes and so on...) stayed as well.
Now I have OPUS 1 & 2 ready and the Concert guitar and French Oboe I have to finish too.
Regarding my patience...well, when I was mapping the samples manually sometimes I thought if it was actually worth it. Why did VSL did not make a final update now that they discontinued the Horizon productline?
But I guess it had to be a user who did it, and yes it was worth it.
I have all the artfiles for the gig files with the new programming, but after so much work I don't know if I should/could release them.
