no, you cannot route from VE PRO an master into MIR PRO on slave (and then route back to the master), but you could run also MIR PRO (or MIR PRO 24) on both machines.

Thanks "thenightwatch" for your detailed insight into this. That's a great idea in utilizing both machines using MIR pro. So in my circumstance, if using the MIRpro plugin with my sequencer AND also having MIR on my master machine, how would I route all the samples from the slave machine into MIR on the master? The CAT 6 connection will do this?

Maybe I didn't explain what I was hoping to do very clearly. I wasn't asking which computer, the New macpro OR the HP workstation, would be best used as a master/slave configuration. I was wonder if there was a way to use BOTH computers for sample playback, one with the sequencer (Sibelious, Logic X) and the other with MIR Pro but BOTH playing back samples. Also the "old pc" is an HP Z800 Workstation with TWO quad core processors equaling 8 cores running at 3.2 mh sec. The Z800 has 12 slots for RAM that can hold up to 192 gigs of RAM. The samples will be held on two large SSD drives RAID 0. Currently my new Macpro is the SINGLE processor 4 core. The new Mac Pro's still cannot equal the maximum RAM amount of the HP. I'm just wondering if the Vienna software allows Master/slave BOTH playing back samples

6.NewMacPro with HP Xeon Workstation together? 4/14/2014 9:28:39 PM

I am hoping to get some thoughts on the optimal configuration of how best to utilize these two computers together. I have an older HP Z800 Workstation 2 processor 4 core Xeon 5590, 48 gb of RAM, Sonnet Tempo SSD Pro card which hold a terabite SSD and a 500 Gb SSD RAID 0 through the PCI-e slot giving it a 900 MB/s throughput. The system drive is on a separate SSD drive.

I would like to use the HP as the slave computer and use a new Mac Pro 4 core, 500 gb drive as the Master. My question is it possible or recommended to use additional vienna libraries on the Mac as well, say all String Libraries minus the Dimensions that will be on the PC, as to stream samples from both of these computers? I have just about everything Vienna has put out plus additional sound libraries as well. I'm wanting to best utilize these two computers and welcome any ideas on the best way to do so.

9.Problem loading latest MIR version 3/23/2011 12:56:42 AM

After updating to the lastest version of MIR (1844), I get a "Device Configuration Warning-The audio configuration was changed. Please review audio/MIDI preferences" I then go into the preferences and select audio routing, at that point a window comes up  saying "Vienna MIRexe. has stopped working" and I then have to close the program.

Should I revert back to the previos build?

It might seem a little one dimensional and a little stagnant if an artist's only language was of a peaceful contemplative mood. That is why one will only find moments where this will occur (other than "new age"music). That is when it can be even more profound- after the listener is taken to a place of unrest, tension, and chromatic dissonance, and then brought to the calm and tranquility of a meditative like state. I recommend Scriabin's late piano works, and above ALL else, sections of his unfinished (realized by Alexander Nemtin) "Preparation for the Final Mystery", which would have been a prelude for the 7 day long "Mysterium".

I did install the very latest eLicesnse driver and the most current version of theVSL plugins were scanned and ok (so it showed me on the opening window). Like I said, MIR opens fine, it's just when I try to get my template loaded is when the problem occurs. I really hope there is a solution soon, as I can't work at all on my current project as it is. I do know that you guys are looking into it though.

13.MIR eLicense problem 12/31/2010 8:29:52 PM

I installed the latest version of both the elicenser and MIR on my slave PC. I open MIR with no problem, but when attempting to load my template, an eLiceser error box appears saying "The key could not be identified: The key format is invalid"

I tried reinstalling the the elicenser with no success. Help please.

14.Articulation Problems Using the "FULL" Sibelius Soundsets 10/14/2010 6:39:38 PM

Thanks for the fast reply, Andi.

     The "ord" did help when changing to a new command. However, in regards to the "blare" articulation, I do see a "HO1_sus_blare" patch in the "E2" cell of the single vienna horn, 01 Horn Vienna Basic Matrix, of Horns 64 Full preset. BUT, the "blare" for the a8 is in the "F2" cell slot, not the "E2". Does that mean that many of the articulations that are loaded, which appears to be all of them, are not available when used with text messages? How would I know which one's are and which one's are not, when using these FULL presets. It does seem to show about all of the articulations in the sound set editor that are loaded.

15.Articulation Problems Using the "FULL" Sibelius Soundsets 10/13/2010 11:10:42 PM

Many of the articulations are not activated when I use the "Full" Sibelius Sound Sets. For example, if I right the text command for "blare" in the horns. it will not switch to this in the sinlge horns or the a8 Horns. The "gliss" will work in the single horns but not in the a8. I have made sure that the chosen articulation is in the playback dictionary, or I put it in manually, with the correct sound ID change that I see for the instrument in the Sound Set Editor. I use this with VI Pro within MIR. I have the most current VE Soundsets and Vienna House Styles. I would really like to use many of these "Full" sound set articulations triggered by various text commands in my score, then export to Logic to fine tune things, but without having to really ad too many articulation keyswitch changes at that point.

The audio issue, yes. And also yes to the MIDI issue, only when I don't use remote desktop though, to alter the settings.

I was using a remote desktop screen to try and  manipulate the settings for MIR. I found this did not allow the MIDI pulldown menu to show any MIDI drivers. It did allow me to see this menu if I used a connected screen, and make the appropriate driver selection. I also noticed that if I change venue from the "remote" screen, I lose the MIDI connection. I then have to go back to the connected screen to reactivate things. A little annoying. At least things are working now.

  I found that I had to change the MOTU driver's MIDI sync to "ADAT" and this stopped the crackling that I was hearing.

18.Problems Connecting MIR Slave to Mac 9/10/2010 9:17:43 PM

I am in need of a liitle assistance in getting a couple issues ironed out with MIR networked PC slave to MAC connection. Firstly, the MIR MIDI tab can't see my Music Lab's MolCP3 driver in the settings menu. I have the most current driver which is a trial version at the moment, installed on both computers, and the "test" button on the Music Lab control panel says the signal from the master is reaching the slave. But there is nothing in the MIR MIDI settings window showing and MIDI device. I am getting audio from MIR though, only if I mouse click a VI keyboard. I do get crackles though with that. I am using an Echo Gina3 audio device from the PC to a Motu 828 mkII in the Mac via ADAT. Also, both computers and a printer are networked together with an Airport Extreme Gigabit Base Station acting as a switcher. I had an IT guy come and put that together. Any help will be welcomed.

I found that I had to reboot the computer several times along the way, and with that was able to download the files.

Thanks for both of your  input. I emptied the cache, tried the download on 3 different internet browsers and on a pc and a Mac. The most I am getting is an extremely low download where the kb per sec. rate keeps lowering as it proceeds, and 5 hour remaining download time just for one file. Other downloaded files (from other sites) are working fine, so it really doesn't seem to be an internet problem. Very strange

I was curious of the performance advantage using the newer Intel six core 5600 series chips for MIR, compared to the 5500's.

Would MIR actively use all 12 cores? The pricing for both is not very different from each other.
