how do you feel now about the subject? I mean, after Synchron Brass addition.
By the way, dimension strings would be perfect if we could have recorded trills as well. Unfortunately, I could never have a good result with performed trills...

Dear Beat, that's exactly what I was looking for. Considering the available technology, a discussion about a few possible musical situations and the "adequate" treatment, if any, is needed. VSL offers many tools, but knowledge about the usage isn't always part of the education of composers. Nowadays we must learn all those areas in order to deliver the best material and it is nice to read that I can count on you. Thank you for your understanding.

Dietz and experts, could you kindly share a few tips about what to insert first and last in the master chain for mastering purposes? Multiband pro or limiter last? Do I need a limiter when already using Multiband pro? Eq first right? And then? When or where to use imager pro? Anything else?
I am sure I could have better results with vienna suite than with ozone. The problem is the lack of knowledge. It would be great, and I have heard the same wishes from many, if VSL could provide tutorials about those tasks...

Hi Rubens

No, the Solo Strings are completely unprocessed, as are the String Ensembles. Neither the Synchron String Ensembles nor the Solo Strings use MIR. Everything is truly "unprocessed". The very dry solo strings are only "panned" to the right place (L, R, M).  Finally there is just some "reverb tail over all" in the output channel of the daw... (see the mixer in the attachment)

Synchron Strings Pro and Elite are inside the Synchron stage, being that, the sound comes already with some treatment "by nature", by the choosen mics, and there is no need of MIR, that is clear.
The confusion of mine was how to deal with the violin 1 (vi version for example). The answer is: it will be completely raw, having only the same amount of tail as the other ensembles and panned, right? In other words, ensembles inside the Synchron stage room and violin 1 only some algorithm tail.

Dietz, how can I make the binauralization you have mentioned using DearVR monitor? I am using Digital Performer. I assume that I can achieve that using DearVR monitor in any DAW right?
DearVR monitor should be inserted at the master fader channel with which preset? Must be ON when bouncing right?

Unfortunately, the convert channel configuration doesn't change the Synchron players from stereo versions to whatever surround version you want...

I would like to receive advice about to how to create the illusion of changing bow direction on long notes, including normal long notes and flautando situations.

Some possibilities I am exploring are:

1 breaking the long notes
2 breaking the long notes and choosing a different patch (which patch to exchange with flautando?)
2 using CC1 to create that effect
3 all techniques above

Or there is a better way to approach that situation?

I've buyed some download instruments, (Flute 1 and 2, tenor trombone and trumpet Bb) but when I try to install them the software (Vienna instruments library installer) says the package files are corrupted... I have already installed the flute 2 and tenor trombone but trumpet and flute 1 I couldn't. I am downloading them, package and cab files) over and over again and I don't know anymore if this is the problem. In fact I think the software is not okay but I have the latest ones... All in a macbook pro 2.4 with 10.6.2 Any suggestions?
