1.YAY **Synchron Strings Pro** NOW available! 9/25/2020 10:18:14 AM

Hi Paul

The demo's of the new Synchron Strings Pro left me speachless - its absolutely stunning and the closest to the real thing I have hear to date. So I will be "upgrading" from strings 1 post haste.

But now please tell me that you plan to do a con sordino extention to this library - right?

It would be so gorgoues :-)

best regards

Bjarne

2.working on sample data cache running indefinitely on VEP 6. 8/6/2016 9:27:58 AM

Hi

I have a similar problem. Trying to load a VEP5 project in VEP6 - it starts loading channels and advance to 29 pct, then stay there indefinetely doing nothing ( task manager shows no increase in memory use ). The VEP5 project is all vienna plug-ins

best regards

Bjarne

3.Preload size and memory consumption does not match? 3/17/2014 1:34:40 PM

Hi George

yes - I was just about to bump up the post - but you got there first :-)

That's a lot of metadata....maybe that can get into shared memory too in the future like the samples do now.

Thx for your reply -

4.Preload size and memory consumption does not match? 3/6/2014 10:31:44 AM

Dear Vienna

I use SSD for all my libraries now and have set the preload size in directory manager to 1536 - but it does not seem to lower my memory consumption correspondingly. I first noticed this with VE Pro, but decided to a separate test using VI Pro standalone and it is the same.

When I start up the computer and a VI Pro standalone instance my taskmanger shows a memory use of 4.96 Gb - then I load the big Dimension Violins VI-All Large Set L2ext preset. This is listed to be using 8526 Mb of memory using default preload size (16384 bytes) so I expect the memory load to be 8526 Mb * 1536/16384 = 799 Mb - And this is also what the VI Pro reports in the top left window: 799Mb/272840 Samples.

However when I read the memory consumption in task manger it now reads 9.14 Gb, so an increase in memory consumption of 9.14 – 4.96 = 4.18 G. Approx. 4 times the reported memory load in VI Pro.

Any idea of what is going on?

5.Request/suggestion for extra Harp patch 12/5/2011 2:35:12 PM

Hi

There is a special playing technique used by Varese in the start of Ameriques, where the player is playing the strings with one hand, while knocking on the soundboard with the other.

I have looked in every sample library of harps for this, but no one seem to have included it, so maybe VSL would be interested in adding this?

Just an idea.....

Or maybe I should just go and knock my head against bottom of the soundboard of a piano and record that Party!!!

btw Ameriques is a wonderful piece - I recommend a listen or two.......

6.Extended Instrument Ranges - No handles 12/5/2011 11:00:04 AM

Hi

When I toggle the Show/Hide Keyboard Range button, no handles appears on the virtual keyboard, so I cannot extend the range.

This is in the VSTi - handles does appear in the standalone version.

7.[SOLVED] Don't see vienna instrument pro in VEP5 11/30/2011 10:04:34 PM

....uninstalled everything, and then installed in correct order. Now it is working :-)

8.[SOLVED] Don't see vienna instrument pro in VEP5 11/30/2011 9:49:01 PM

Hi

Same problem here - started off by installing VI Pro2 first and then VEP5, but I have re-installed VI Pro 2.0.9753 - still does not show up in VEP5. Adding an instrument will produce the old VI.

I have then added a VST plugin path to the VIPro (among other plugings) and used the scan functionality - VEP does scan the ViPro, I can see it being scanned in the info line, but it does not show up on the plugin list either.

9.Orchestral Strings Patches 4/6/2011 12:24:48 PM

Dear Vienna

I am currently constructing my own presets and VST expression maps for Vi-14

- and looking at the rep_cre/dim9 patches under Ressources, I was wondering why you have not made a compound patch of these as a sort of detache with 9 velocity layers. If you then include the corresponding dim9 versions you would have alternation samples as well, for a 2 step round-robin.

I know they are already used in the rep-dyn patches, but why not reuse them in a configuration as above?

Is there any way we could make are own complete patches from scratch like in the old Giga sampler version? Cause it would be nice to have control of A/B section too - and a Vi-14 with legato portamento switching, like the one found in App.Strings.

10.Cubase 6 and Vienna Expression Maps 3/22/2011 11:40:40 AM

 Hi Andi

Thx for the instructions - the #G and A are indeed the same patch for flutes. What puzzles me is that in the map setup the con vib.  is setup to send a #D keyswitch - which does point to the Sus_Vib patch, and I have no other direction or articulation on the lane, but Con Vib.

11.Cubase 6 and Vienna Expression Maps 3/22/2011 12:19:20 AM

Hi

I just upgraded to Cubase 6 and I have a wierd thing going on with my expression maps in existing projects:

In my score a have Con Vib on Flute 1 and 2 and also the Alto Flute - yet it triggers the Legato patch. Checking the map its states that Con Vib is sending #D which corrosponds to the SusVib patch - but the outcome is #G which corresponds to the Legato Patch ( patch 9 in the horizontal dim.). This is what happends if the Con Vib. is at 01:01:000.

Mmoving the Con Vib instruction slightly forward ( >01:01:000) will cause it to issue an A key instead( patch 10 in the horizontal dim.) - even more mysterious!

I have checked for any transposing etc. - also the default patch seems to be patch 3 ( D key ) to which it correctly resets at stop.

Has anybody experienced anything like this? Any suggestions as to what maybe wrong?

thx

12.Solo Clarinet in A ? 11/16/2010 4:17:05 PM

I have asked for this before also - so +1 from me Big Smile

We have 2 flutes, 2 Oboes and 2 bassoons - but only 1 Clarinet ( not counting the aux. instruments ), and it would be really nice to have a second clarinet and one in A will double quite nicely.

13.MIR Update? 9/18/2010 10:56:41 AM

No problems here, everything works fine after the update.

Do you have trouble with other licenses on the same e-licenser key?

14.MIR Update? 9/17/2010 12:42:58 PM

Then reload now- cause there is a new build now :-))

15.MIR Update? 9/17/2010 12:21:58 PM

thx Kambiz  - excellent :-)

16.MIR Update? 9/17/2010 11:41:16 AM

Dear Vienna

After the release of the VI Pro it was mentioned that a MIR update would be available "in a couple of days" that would reckonize the VI Pro dll.

I therefore refrained from doing the renaming workaround for VI Pro - but is there coming a MIR update (very) shortly or is it going to be delayed?

17.Flute 2 Sus_Vib Patch ? 9/17/2010 11:33:50 AM

oh - I see, so the samples in Ressources are in fact the same as the ones used in the Sus_Progr_Vib patch.

The reason I ask is that I am building new presets for the VI Pro and is trying to align the different flutes to the same basic structure, and

Flute 1 has both a Sus_Vib, a Sus_Vib_Progr and a Non-Vib patch, so it woulld be nice to have this for the Flute 2 too.

thx

18.Flute 2 Sus_Vib Patch ? 9/16/2010 8:16:18 PM

eh - I'm talking about the DVD (Cube) edition missing the sus_vib patch, sorry if i did'nt make that clear...

19.Flute 2 Sus_Vib Patch ? 9/16/2010 6:54:27 AM

Hi Paul

Yes, that is probably it - but it would be nice to have a separate patch, like in the other instruments

Is there anyway I can combine the 3 layers then into a seperate patch?

20.Flute 2 Sus_Vib Patch ? 9/15/2010 10:34:44 PM

Anybody?

21.Flute 2 Sus_Vib Patch ? 9/13/2010 10:48:40 PM

Dear Vienna

There is no dedicated sus_vib patch in Flute 2, only a progressive vibrato patch - Yet under ressources I find the seperate velocity layers of sus_vibrato, so the samples seems to be present.

How come there is no layered patch then?

22.VI Pro Collaboration 8/25/2010 10:26:39 PM

 Hi

Now we have this great new player with all those wonderful possibilities, we are going to need new Presets, Matrix's and VST Expression Maps.

So here is a suggestion: Instead of having VSL work there behinds to shreads with this - how about we make it a community project?

It should still be under the guideline and supervision of VSL in order to get consistency as well as keeping track of who does what....

I imagine something like this:

1. First we have a forum discussion with suggestions and input from all sides on principles and construcion methods.

( yes, I know we will never agree completely on a final format, but VSL can be Umpire on this)

2. All instruments are then listed with tasks divided into groups:

   a) Matrix and presets

   b) Expression maps

   c) Testing

3. All the good people sign up for a group a) b) or c) according to their spare time, interest and skills

4. VSL Coordinate and keeps track of progress and handovers to next step ( eg. to the testing group )

So what do you all think ?

The benifits are that we can get all the stuff faster, and VSL can get on with software develpment and making new sample libraries:

(  might I suggest a Clarinet in A Big SmileWink   )

23.Vienna instruments pro timeline. Anyone know? 8/21/2010 10:20:24 PM

The loops seem to have disappeared when using the libraries in VI Pro.

ex. If I load a matrix like Flute 1 Articulation Combi L1 - the sustains ends abruptly and the flatter sus too...except for the lowest Bb3 and B3 which does loop. Curiously this holds true for all velocity levels of Bb3 and B3.

...and I am not using the stretch tool for anything.

Can anybody confirm this behavior?

Hi,

it´s currently not possible to load anything else than 12 tone scales - but it´s noted and we´ll do our best to incorporate that in one of the next versions.

Best,

Paul

thx - looking forward to that Big Smile

25.Vienna instruments pro timeline. Anyone know? 8/21/2010 7:03:13 PM

Amazing piece of software wow - got it earlier today, and has right away started doing a microtuning scale - but it seems that you can only operate with 12 tone scales - at least my 18 tone 1/3 tone scale does not show up.

Is there some thing special you need to write in the file or is it just not possible?

I notice that the files you can download from Scala does not show up either, unless its a 12 tone scale.
