1. I'm in the process of redownloading everything for iLok. I have the full BBO package but meanwhile I also have the full Synchron Libraries (Brass, Strings I, StringsPro, Elite, Woodwinds, Percussion).
To avoid SSD space waste: which BBO-Libraries do offer different samples than already covered in the big Synchron libraries?
(I'm still confused by the BBO names and never know without searching the VSL website what Medusa or Cyclops or whatever they are called actually contains.)

 2. Is there a kind of translating program that transfers Vienna Instrument (Pro) presets into the Synchron player? I invested a lot(!) of time in custom instrument presets and combis. And if that's not possible: Will VIPro have an update to Apples M1 or is it a dead end?

 3. I used the "Cantabile Legatos" patches that came as an update to Synchron Strings 1 quite a bit. I made my own presets using it. Now I downloaded the "optimized" Synchron 1 for SynchStrPro users and these presets can't find the samples for the Cantabile Legato samples any more. Are these samples the same as the molto vibrato legatos of SynchStrPro?

 4. I made a few custom presets from scratch for the Synchron Player (mainly using SynchStrPro patches). Is it possible to import mixer presets from the factory presets into the blank mixer preset list in my custom presets?

I'm new to the Synchron Player but used the VIPro extensively. Two questions came up:

1 - How do I stack articulations? Like the usual overlay of stacc/legato or trills on staccs for blurring runs etc?

2 - How do I set the dynamic curve to "niente" when CC1 (for dynamics) is down? Rising the Dynamic Range slider to 127 in VIPro let dynamics play to silence. In Synchron it doesn't work, there's still an audible level.

How Do I copy an instance in VEPro 6 (i.e. when I need 50 instances with one Kontakt each)?

For a collaboration we need to work with the same libraries (VSL and a few others in VEPro on one Mac in each studio).

If one VEPro project is saved on Mac using MIR Pro, is it possible to open that same project on another Mac when it has MIR 24 installed instead of MIR Pro? Given that there are not more than 24 instruments in the template.

Same question for Logic: Is a song created in Logic using Mir Pro as AU plugin loadable on another Mac with MIR 24 installed (if not using more than 24 instances).

Can we delete the older sample folders (SY_1st-Violins_Stereo) if we want to use Synchron Strings with the new player only?

I was looking for that feature - but I didn't find it! Couldn't really believe that this basic function isn't there.

i.e. setting up an instance for VL1 (incl eq/fx/channels), copy/paste it and replace VL1 with VL2.

Would be faster and easier than saving and re-loading the channel strips or instances.

So it's part of my (short) wish list :-)

I'm trying to configure an instrument for my needs with Synchron Violins1.

I have the 4 legatos in 4 cells and each cell has two patches for slot a/b crossfade between normal vib and lyrical vib. 

In the normal legato the lyrical vib is slightly louder than the standard vib. That feels quite natural as it gets more intense with more vibrato. But in the slur legatos it's vice versa: the standard vib patch is much louder than the slur lyrical vibrato and also louder than the standard vib patches of the other 3 legato patches. Every time playing lyrical vib slured the tone pops out loud (at same CC-VelX-level). I use the Room-Mix versions.

I can't use the VIPro mixer to make the Leg-Slur-Vib quieter because the crossfade patch Leg-Slur-LyV uses the same mixer channel (a/b) for crossfading. If I put it into another slot than the Leg-Slut_vib patch to get an extra mixer channel it doesn't crossfade any more.

I found a lot of settings in the advanced tab of VIPro (like start offset etc...) but no simple volume control for a patch. How can I fine tune that?

I didn't invest much time into Synchron Strings up to now (waiting for the complete library) but in my few early tests I didn't hear a release killer. I also have the crossfade sensitivity of all my VSL libraries set to 126 (nearly silence on dynamic CC down). It's right, on decrescendo the room is going down with the samples while in real world the room tail fades later than the instruments. But Synchron Strings do very smooth fades (probably caused by the lot of layers). It's much smoother than in compareable room recorded libraries. And at the end you will add a nice Lexicon tail anyway. This is done in mixes of acoustic recordings as well and isn't really audible but glues together everything. Doesn't need to be wet and washy. Just a tasteful shimmer on top. And it smoothes out all fades. Actually Synchron Strings does the best CC driven 'to silence' fades I heard up to now. Dry libraries included.

Probably your teacher want you to be able to play steady notes. I'm a wind player myself and steady dynamic free notes are more an exeption than normality in musical context. At least in my world :-)

I use the TEControl too and I set it to CC1. It replaces my modwheel in most cases. I removed the mouthpiece and blow directly into the white plastic at the end of the rubber tube. So no air gets through, it feels like blowing into a pencil, but the pressure is measured and controls the instruments dynamic. That way I can use it for strings and don't get out of air that fast. I can even breath while holding the note when I close the white plastic tube with my tounge.

For the future production of the new library please please please don't forget a strong heavy vibrato layer for the strings!

I have Vienna Suite (not Pro) installed on my Mac and also on my Slave PC (Win7).

I made a template in VEPro6 on my Mac and want to transfer it to VEPro on the PC. When opening the template on PC Vienna Suite can't find the impulse responses I used in the Convolution Reverb on Mac and ask me to locate the file on the PC.

Where on PC should this impulse responses be located? I'm a Windows noob and have no idea where to look for it.

Is there a way to route audio over multiple instances to "collect" i.e. surround channels from various instances?

Would avoid a lot of incoming audio in the DAW (in my case Logic). For example: I have seperate instances for long and short note string instruments for each section (Vl1long, Vl1 short, Vl2 long, Vl2 short, Vla long...). For tree and surround mikes plus closed mikes it adds up to 30 audio inputs which I have to route back to 3 stereo auxes (tree, surround, close) in Logic. Would be much easier if the routing could happen in VEPro already and only the 3 stereo stems go back to logic.

Possible?

Changes for the parameter "Dly", "Tun" and "Hmz" doesn't have any effect until the next note is played.

Makes sense for delay and timing humanisation because that concerns the note start and can't be altered while the note is already playing.

But it would be cool to have realtime control over the detuning parameter while the note is playing. i.E. to change lushness while playing and make effects like note-to-cluster in realtime. And it would be also a real time control over 'soaring' by creating extreme vibrato envelopes in the humanize curves.

Especially for Dimension Strings (but would also work for stacked instruments of different sections).

It's always a compromize. You could load three tracks of solo trumpet and one ensemble. For chords you can use the three solos and for unison the ensemble (+one solo). What I don't like at that concept: it's not very intuitive for unison lines that end in chords or vice versa. And it's hard to export it to (or use it in) a notation program as it doesn't correspond to score tracks.

The transposition trick works well. I used it for strings, trombs and horns in VIpro. But mostly I just fill the gaps with instruments of other libraries.

Dimension Brass could solve your problem. These are sections built of single instruments recorded together but miked seperately. So there's no phasing when using them in unison.

With the woodwinds of Special edition Vol2 you should have a doubled WW section.

For those who wants the features of Vienna Suite Pro but don't need surround:
Will there be a stereo-version of Pro or an update to the older Vienna Suite?

Brass band would be a good thing. Lot's of instruments are already covered by VSL but still missing more clarinets and flutes, tenor horns (euphoniums) and flugelhorns (section, not solo) are missing. It would be great to have more than one section sound for phasing free unisonos of first/second/third clarinets (more than one instrument per voice) first/second flutes, flugelhorn sections etc.
I made a concert band template with mainly VSL but had to add a lot of other developers stuff. Would be great to have it all VSL.

There's a big pro market for composers and arrangers in the concert band aera. I don't think it's an exotic niche.

Works fine here. Ok, you can overload every computer by using too much reverbs or load every avaliable articulation. I have an 8core Mac and a normal one-track-per-instrument special edition orchestra with a valhalla room per section runs on the lower side of CPU.

Using Dimension strings and lots of additional Kontakts needs more and I recently updated from 32 to 64 GB. If CPU hits the ceiling it's mostly the active track in Logic but that's rare.

I have a slave PC but most of the time I don't need it. It's just necessary when I want to stack Dimension strings with other developers sections or keep the Mac free for other stuff.

Got it! Was missing Vol2 Woodwinds plus and Vol 4. 

I'll have a look at it and decide if it contains useful things for my needs.

No, they are different.

There are no special recorded run samples. But I don't miss them at all. You can play DS at any speed without a problem. Works with normal legato and performance trills as well. To get the blur effect in higher speeds I made a matrix cell with extreme random detunings in the humanize slots. This matrix cell is selected when playing faster. Sounds beautiful.
