1.MORE VI ! MORE VI ! 9/14/2018 9:35:12 PM
I agree I hope VSL continues with the VI line. It’s nice to have a sample library that’s closer to what you would hear in a concert hall, rather than every sample library having to have the sound of a Hollywood sound stage. I like them both, and think of them as two separate tools. That’s why I’m a little concerned about buying more of the VI line as I’m not sure if they’ll just cancel it. Hope they don’t.
2.Akai Advance 61 'VIP' Compatible with VEPro? 1/30/2017 12:31:43 AM

Hello Jon,

I contacted AKAI technical support and they informed me that the VIP software is designed to work on the host computer.  So for example the AKAI VIP software works inside my VEPro software as long as the VEPro software and keyboard are running on my host computer.  I have no luck at all with getting it to work on my slave computer. It does however function like a regular midi controller on my slave computer, click midi learn in most software, and turn a knob on the keybaord.  Other than that its no different than any other keyboard controller with regards to working on a slave computer it seems.  This is just what my experience is, and what I'm glaeaming from the AKAI tech support.  I still like the keyboard though. Great for producing the electronic segments of tracks in a film score lets say.  Just FYI my configuration is that my main computer is a mac and my slave is a PC.

Hope this helps,

Trevor

3.Akai Advance 61 'VIP' Compatible with VEPro? 12/29/2016 4:48:43 PM
Hello Jocke,

I'm considering getting the Akai Advanced 41. I have VEPro 6 installed on both my main computer (Mac), and my slave computer (PC). I have all my Vienna instrument samples on my Mac, and VST samples on my PC. Do you mind if I ask you what type of computer set-up you have? I would hate to run out and get the Akai to find out it doesn't work in sorting out my Vienna instrument samples on my Mac, and that it does not work through VEPro installed on a slave. I use Logic X as a sequencer and I know that Mac uses AU's not VSTi which the VIP software of the Akai is designed for, but I'm so new to this stuff I have no idea what format my Vienna samples on my Mac are in. Any information you may have that you can share would be greatly appreciated. It looks like a great keyboard.

Kind Regards.
Trevor
4.Special Edition, Slave Computers, and VEPro 8/10/2015 5:38:03 AM

Hello Paul,

Thats what I thought, but its nice to have confirmation and it saves me a lot of time trying to figure out the impossible :)  and thank you for the additional idea of labeling the template with which computer the articulations ar attached to.

thanks again for the info,

Trevor

5.Special Edition, Slave Computers, and VEPro 8/10/2015 2:37:09 AM

Hello,

Please forgive me I'm sure this has been asked somewhere before, however I wasn't able to find the answer in my several hours of looking through the forums. I just purchased my slave computer and have everything up and running as it should be, however I'm not sure its possible to do what I was originally planning to do. I have two Vienna Keys one with Special Edition Vol 1 and Vol 1 plus and the other key with Special Edition Vol2 and 2 plus. One Key is on my Mac the other is on my PC. Is there anyway to set up the slave to have all of the Woodwinds and Brass samples from the special edition, and my main computer to have the Percusion and String sections. The way the library is divided up it seems like I would have to purchase the entire set over again and have everything on both keys which simply is not financially possible in my current situation.  For me it may be confusing to program in a string line and then have to add another instrument from my other machine to play a string trill.  I'm knew to this whole thing so any suggestions would be of help.

My DAW is Logic X, my main computer is a Mac Quad Core 3.0 GHZ, with 16 GB memory, My PC is an Intel i5 with 10 GB memory. While I can run the whole VI Special Edition orchestra on my Mac just fine I wanted to have another computer to releave its working load a little.

I'm new to this forum so I appreciate any suggestions, thanks again in advance.

6.No VE Pro demo for new users? 10/6/2014 9:23:31 AM

Hello Paul,

I'm new to the forum so I'm not even sure I'm asking the question correctly. I currently am using Logic X on a Mac quad core with 16 gigs of ram. Because of the 16 MIDI channel limitation in Logic my orchestral template needs 15 instances of Ensemble 5 to be open. My understanding is there is a work around in Ensemble 5 Pro. I'm experiencing lots of clicks and audio dropout however my CPU only registers at 50%. I was wondering if there was a way to demo Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 to see if it solves the problem I'm experiencing.

Thanks Trevor
