1.Vi Pro sequencer export ? 10/26/2012 5:05:59 PM

For me it would be enough to have the midi data out.

2.Vi Pro sequencer export ? 10/26/2012 10:34:32 AM

I asked for the VIpro midi out long ago.. Usefull things for musicians not always come first in companies priorities lists. Pity :(

3.Ipad app for VI Pro 9/8/2012 5:49:04 AM

I love to beta test too

Thanks

4.Isn't VSL just one step from its own... 7/15/2012 5:23:56 AM

Times of crissis are times of oportunities. I hear that avid is clossing the Sibelius UK team. Maybe VSL should buy Sibelius and then we all will be very happy :)

5.VIpro2 APP sequencer requests 1/27/2012 9:54:04 AM

Working with the new VIpro2 APP sequencer I have 2 request.

1. The absolute need of a midi out future that allows the music generated inside the sequencer to be exported/saved to a notation program for further development. That request was already sent by me to you in a previous post.

2. Importing my midi files into  the VIpro2 APP sequencer works fine. I notice that by cloning the imported Midifile in the first sequence cell it duplicates it to the other sequence cells. That is nice if you later deactivate the specific sequence cell and edit the notes to produce manually variations from the original material. In your chord matrices you had different sequence cells with root, inv.,1, inv. 2, 7th positions for the chords. I understand that those are preprogrammed by you but I was wondering if there would be any possibility th have an automatic intelligent feature inside VIpro2 APP sequencer that allows to "transform" the first sequence cell imported midi file into variations of it with all these inversions you have in the chord and repetition matrices.

In other words, imagine I load a midifile with 5 melodic/chordal lines in it, once I clone this music from the first sequence cell into the rest of the cells I will apply the" transformation future", my bass line in sequence cell 2 would transform into inv 1 of the chord, my bass line in cell 3 would transform into inv 2 of the chord etc. and all the rest of the 12 sequence cells inversions and variations of the basic chord structure will transform as well....

That in my opinion would be an interesting addition to produce automatic transformations of a given music material for music creation and experimentation and will speed up time when you want to create variations in a fast way.

best regards

6.Wow, what's that patch? 1/24/2012 11:58:42 AM

I found out an alternative way to achieve a VI 2 instrument in VEpro 2 retuning the instrument to avoid phasing with the interaction with VI 1.

I am using the Special Edition library for this.

The system works out for me and I am curious to know if Vienna will agree and approve it:

this is how it works:

in VIpro 2 load the SP ED Orchestral Strings/Strings violins matrix.

This is going to be your 2nd Violins after you do the following FOR EVERY SLOT of your matrix violin:

1. in advance view, select the VI-14 staccato slot, select Edit, under Semitone select 2.

2. In Basic view you have to activate if not already visible a Pitch Bend fader.

For that you select an empty channel of the Controller mixer and in the lower square assign "pitch bend" after in the upper square assign "wheel". The fader value must be 0.

remember that this must be done for every single slot in you matrix. Once is done you can save the matrix as your SP ED VI2 personal matrix

Thats it!

Now when you play VI1+VI2 in unison you should not hear any phasing because VI2 has been retuned to play on the next near sample.

PD.:I use this configuration with SIbelius 7 and I don't have to do anything in SIbelius at all to make it work. All The programing is done in VIpro2. Once is done is saved with the VEpro project and you don't have to program it never again.

I hope this was helpful

good luck

7.Vienna Instruments Expression Constantly Changing 12/6/2011 7:47:50 AM

Try in Sibelius 7, under the Play tab to check off Live Playback.

Also under the Play tab open Performance and under Style it has expressivo by default. I use Meccanico instead.

This 2 adjustments make the expression faders move all the time up and down and I have them checked off by default when I work with external libraries in Sibelius, for me they are tottally useles.

I hope this is what you are talking about.

good luck

8.VSL instruments PRO 2 missing a "export midifile" 12/3/2011 1:13:30 PM

Basically and ideally as I envision a midi out from VIpro 2 sequencer would be a way to record in a midi track on your daw the notes that are being played back from a recorded midi track with notes and keyswitches triggering VIpro 2´s internal Sequencer. Then the resulting midi track could be midi saved/exported to a notation program like Sibelius. If this is ever achieved, VIpro 2 would become not only a great orchestral sample player but also a powerfull composing tool for musicians that like to work with notation music

I think is an option that you Vienna guys should consider seriously from the music point of view and the comercial one too.

9.VSL instruments PRO 2 missing a "export midifile" 11/29/2011 6:40:04 AM

Hi Paul

working around a few days with VIpro-2 new Sequencer and Cubase ans Sibelius I can see how important would be a Midi out from VIpro-2.

I actually think that the best solution would be the "talk to the otside world" oprtion Kontakt has  o something similar. So when you end with a track in Cubase/Logic that uses single notes to triger  VIpro-2 sequences it is absolutlly necesary to be able to output all the resulting notes into a notation program.

You already said it was a good idea, but "when" is the question, when do you thing that option would be available in VIpro.2? I understand you just released the update, but do you thing this could be implemented as part of an update o we will have to wait longer?

a couple more things I am missing in  VIpro-2 :

1. solo or muting patches in the  matrices cells.

2. a quick way to convert patches from one instrument category to another, example:

if I have a matrix cell with a String section with VI-VI-VA-VC-CB legato or any other art., be able to convert that section into another  String section VI-VI-VA-VC-CB portamento or any other  avilable art. without having to load manaly all the patches form the browser.

I imagin that his could be acomplish easily with some kind of computer keyboard comand that you press as you dowload the target patch into the matrix String section cell .

best

Hi Paul, anybody there?

Isn´t this issue interesting at all for anybody?

11.Why are the Logic instruments not avail in VEP? 11/24/2011 11:16:46 PM

you can import logic instuments with the .exs prefix into Kontakt. Then open Kontakt in VEpro and bingo!

12.VEP Automation of Waves plugs=no 11/24/2011 8:31:03 AM

Are yo able to use Altiverb inside VE pro 5?

Altiverb is 32 bits, it only works in VEpro 32 bits server, not in VEpro 64 bits server, right?

The same happend I guess with the wave plugins al do I didn´t test it.

13.VSL instruments PRO 2 missing a "export midifile" 11/24/2011 8:11:04 AM

the new Vienna instruments PRO 2  matrix is a great update of the software.

For us musicians that sometimes like to compose, improvise directly into our Daws and later export our midi files tracks into SIbelius I can see how now this can be a problem if not every note of the arrangment tracks is writen in them.

What I mean is, if I play/record a note in my daw that is triggering a matrix scale in VIpro2, is only that single note that is recorded in my daw, instead of the sounding scale that is produced inside the VIpro2 matrix.

Wouldn´t be nice to be able to save or export that scale, sequence, phrase or whaterver as a midi file or Xml  to be able to tell Sibelius what notes were you playing when you pushed "that single note" in your daw. That IMHO will speed up things in your working flow when you need to translate your music from your daw to Sibelius.

Maybe a good solution would be what Kontakt has; the "talk to the outside world" option that allows you to record  into a midi track any sequence loop or phrase that is performed in Kontakts internal sequences.

Do I make any sense?

14.VE Pro and Logic and the curse of 1 core overloading 12/19/2010 10:15:00 AM

here was my question to VSL and the answer I got, just in case it helps anybody to figure out what is going on with  Apple and their Logic pro developers.

I must say that since then and after been a Logic user for years I am testing Cubase and Protools for a better audio engine overlan eficiency. Read carefully my question to VSL and their answer:

<----------------------------------------

Hello
Working in Logic pro on a big orquestral template using several VE-pros instances overlan in the same mac pro, I notice that in my 12 core new Mac pro only the last core is being used and often as the session grows Logic stops and I get the test message: "System overload. Audio engine can not process in time the data..."I tested the same orchestral example as in above situation but this time opening each track with a  VI-pro instrument directly in Logic pro (without Ve-pro) and the result is that all the cores in my mac pro are being evenly used as it should be.
So now I ask myself why is this happening, and what sense does it make then to use a orch. template with many VE-pros overlan in a 12 core mac pro if only one core is being used waisting this way the power of my 12 core mac?I have tried all kind of solutions to arrive to the conclusion that maybe using VEpro in a multicore system doen´t work out and maybe is better go to the one VIpro by track solution in Logic pro for a better use of the compùter power processing. Please I need some serious technical advice about this. I am working in a professional situation here in my studio and I need to run lots of Vienna and Kontakt instances to accomplish my large orchestral film projects. I have spent many hours creating a template with more than 200 tracks, including group buses etc and now I see that all of it may have been a waist of time. Is hard for me to believe that VEpro can not use all the cores of my mac pro:(------------------------Please read all my tech stuff:Logic Pro (64 bits)preferences buffer: 1024 for Playback, 256 for midi imput. each VE-pro is a 16 track multinstrument. I use in Logic thr midi multinstrument for the midi tracks in the organize window  and aux tracks in the mixer for the audio returns from the  VE-pro server.VE-pro (64 bits) server preferencesmultiprocessing: 2 threads per instance (I also tryed out with 1 thread, 4 threads etc without noticing any chanches)

bestTomás San Miguelwww.musimagic.com<http://www.musimagic.com>______________________________________________________VSL´s ANSWER HERE:::::::::::::
Hi,

there are some flaws in Logics audio engine, most notably being:

- Forces processing of all outputs from multi-output instruments to a single core.
- Forces processing of any send chains from these channels to a single core

Combine the above, and you may end up with the scenario you describe. For whatever reason, Logic behaves better when no Aux outputs from the AU's are being used. Then it can spread the load of processing onto several cores. Thus, my suggestion to you would be to use only stereo returns from each VE Pro instance, mixing inside the VE Pro mixer - which has a properly multithreaded audio engine.

We have not experienced this behavior with any other hosts.

Thanks,

<You can place your favorite default metaframe in your startup folder (in OS X, it ́s the Login Items

defined in your accounts, see below), so that all samples and settings are loaded up when you come

back from your morning coffee! >

So if I understand it right, what you say in the VE-Pro manual is not posssibe at the moment if you want to load this way a 32 bit metaframe file, right?:

This will not come with the new update, but rather with a following one

Do you have an idea of how long we will have to wait for that

best

16.[VE PRO] Wishlist 10/9/2009 12:06:21 PM

About the meta files, I would like them to be fixed.

Saving/recalling the meta files from VE Pro server 64 bits works fine. But there is a bug with the 32 bits VE Pro server. When you doble click such a metafile that contains Kontakt instances, it gives you a loading error. This error happens only when you doble click the meta, because if you open the meta from the server ir opens fine all the kontakt instances.

I found out that such 32 bit server meta files, when you look in the file info, open with, it alows you only to be opened with the 64 bit VE Pro server. I think that is a bug and should be fixed with the new update.
