1.Synchron Strings I 2/27/2018 12:25:56 PM

Hi,

Is there a way of checking what components of Synchron Strings I have and haven't installed? The download manager doesn't seem to keep a log of this, and given the updates, fixes, etc, I want to make sure that I've updated everything I need, but without pointlessly re-downloading stuff I already have.

Thanks in advance.

I'm on the verge of talking myself into this (I was going to wait and see, but the lure of €100 discount via a voucher plus the early bird offer is causing my resistance to crumble). Only thing I'm wondering is - is there anything to be gained from buying now, rather than waiting for the demos? Can anyone confirm whether the official line is that some demos will definitely be released before the early bird offer ends?

Many thanks, Stefan. That seems to have solved the problem.

5.[SOLVED] Syncrosoft License Control Message problem 3/12/2012 8:55:58 AM

Hi,

I keep getting reminders popping up telling me that I have only a few remaining appication starts before my L2 licenses expire. However, the annoying part is that hitting "OK" on the message window has no effect - the only way to dismiss the window is to restart the computer. It also seems impossible to start Logic with this error message in place.

Presumably updating to elicenser would fix this, so could anybody let me know the procedure for doing this, without jeopardising my existing VSL licenses?

I'm running a Mac Pro, OS 10.6.8, Syncrosoft version 5.4.18.1,

Thanks in advance,

Paul

6.Vienna Instruments: save all songs before upgrade? 11/28/2011 7:46:40 AM

Hi George,

Many thanks for the reply. Apologies if my original post was explained badly, but I think you've misunderstood me. There's no one specific Logic project that I'm having a problem with. My post referred to the paragraph at the top of the Vienna Instruments software download page (http://www.vsl.co.at/en/68/428/514/210.htm) which says "Please note that Vienna Instruments 2.1 or higher is not compatible with versions older than 2.0 build 4017. If you are upgrading from an older version, please open and save your songs with Vienna Instruments 2.0 build 4071 first..."

So my question was: if I am following the upgrade path mentioned above, do I really need to open and save all of my Logic songs with Vienna Instruments 2.0 build 4071 first, because to re-open and re-save all of my Logic songs that use Vienna Instruments would probably consist of about 2 days work for me!

Many thanks in advance,

Paul

Sorry to bump this, but does anyone have an answer?

Thanks,

8.Vienna Instruments: save all songs before upgrade? 11/24/2011 9:55:17 AM

Hi,

I'm on a pretty old version of Vienna Instruments, so want to upgrade to the latest version (9687, Mac). The instructions say that I must upgrade to 4017 first, open and save my songs, and then upgrade to 9687. My question is, what happens if I don't open and save my songs (in Logic Pro 8.0.2)? I have literally hundreds of projects that would need to be opened up and saved, it'd probably take me a couple of days, so I want to check that this step is really necessary before I do so.

Also, a quick additional question - does the latest VI version still have the "show window" button? I'm crossing my fingers that it's gone!

Thanks in advance,

Paul

10.Logic proprietary effects missing in Ensemble 4/17/2008 12:02:12 AM
Hi,

I've looked for the answer to this on the FAQs and recent posts, but haven't been able to find anything relating. I've just begun to use Ensemble for the first time within Logic Pro 7.2.3, and my first stumbling block is that I only seem to be able to access 3rd party plugins on the Ensemble channel strip, not the proprietary Logic ones. Am I missing something, or is this just not possible?
Thanks in advance,

Vische

11.Need help with Vienna Ensemble and Logic 12/11/2007 12:05:05 PM

Thanks Stephen, that worked perfectly! (I had done that process, but I didn't realise that I had to "select all" before rescanning)

12.Need help with Vienna Ensemble and Logic 12/10/2007 10:57:26 PM
Hi,

I've just installed Ensemble on my G5, running OS10.4.10 and Logic 7.2.3. Currently, when I go to load a patch or preset within Ensemble, there are no instruments to choose from. I'm guessing that this is because - as mentioned in the Ensemble manual - the existing Vienna Instrument presets need to be copied to my computer's "shared" folder? Am I right in this assumption? If so, I have two questions: firstly, are the presets the ".dat" files currently residing in my Vienna/Library directory? Secondly, if these are the files I need to move, then I have a problem, as they are currently on my e-sata drives, and that's the drive on which I need them to stay, whereas my "shared" folder is on my main startup drive.
Sorry for the barrage of questions, but could somebody put me on the right track?
Thanks in advance,

Paul
13.Removing demo articulations 7/2/2007 4:35:00 PM
Hi Paul and cm, thanks for the replies. cm, there are a couple of reasons that I don't want the L2 articulations to show up in the menu: firstly, in some of the larger instrument folders, there are many L2 sounds, but not a single non-L2 sound, so I often waste time scrolling through looking for sounds that I can use, only to find that there are none. Secondly, I don't want to be able to accidentally use an L2 sound that I find won't load into my composition a few months down the line, when the demo has expired.
Thanks,

Vische
14.Removing demo articulations 7/2/2007 3:57:23 PM
Hi,

Is there any way that I can force the early expiry of my extended instrument articulations that were bundled with my Cube set? I still have over 100 uses left, and I don't want the L2 articulations getting in the way.
Thanks...

Hi Powa87, many thanks for posting this!
17.Serial number 6/26/2007 12:50:43 PM
Hi Paul and Conquer,

Thanks for your replies. The insurance company requires a serial number for any item worth over £750 and the Cube falls into this category. I'll give them a call to check my options.
Thanks again,

Paul
18.Serial number 6/26/2007 12:01:42 AM
Hi Paul,
Many thanks for your reply. I think you may have misunderstood me slightly though - I was wondering if there was an overall serial number for the Cube as a whole, as I am wanting to insure the product with my music insurance company, but they require a serial number in order for me to do this.
Thanks again,

Paul
19.Serial number 6/25/2007 10:00:00 PM
Hi,
I need my Vienna Cube serial number to insure the Cube, could anyone point me to this? Is it the USB number?
Thanks in advance,

Paul
20.Orchestration question 6/22/2007 9:15:02 AM
Hi David,

Many thanks for the reply, useful advice there. I own the Cube, unextended.
Thanks,

Paul
21.Orchestration question 6/20/2007 8:17:38 PM
Hi,
I have a question for the expert orchestrators. I'm required by a client to write a dramatic piece in the style of Ride of the Valkyries. My question is: what technique does Wagner use to produce that fantastic, sparkling string arpeggio that serves as a backing to the main melody near the start of the piece, and how might one go about recreating this effect using VSL? (I own the Cube, unexpanded)
If that's an inadequete description of what I'm after, please let me know and I'll try to clarify further.
Thanks,

Paul
22.Blending VSL with East West Gold 5/8/2007 1:16:26 PM

23.Blending VSL with East West Gold 5/3/2007 10:07:02 AM
Hi,

I very recently purchased VSL Cube and am now working on my first arrangement using the Vienna sounds. I'm also using a number of my EWQLSO instruments in the arrangement, but am currently finding that the different sample sets aren't blending together naturally in the mix. I have switched off the reverb release trails in EWQLSO and am routing the Cube and EWQLSO sounds through the same reverb. However, the VSL samples still sound somewhat "fatter", "brighter" and have more presence, even when I drop them down in the mix to compensate. I'm guessing that this is at least partly because the reverb will be embodied within all parts of the EWQLSO samples, not just the release trails, although the release trails are where it is at its most obvious. My question is: does anyone have any experience/advice for combining these very different sounding samples in a mix, in order to give the impression they are originating from the same orchestra?
Thanks in advance,

Vische
