1.elicenser problem? 7/30/2020 12:49:27 AM

Hello everyone,

Has this issue been resolved yet?

I'm having the exact same problem with my VE 6...

2.Directory Manager Gone? 3/9/2013 2:41:12 AM

Never mind. I already sorted out the Directory Manager problem.

The only question that I still have is, are there any library updates for the Special Edition Vol. 2 dvd?

3.Directory Manager Gone? 3/9/2013 2:15:32 AM

Hi,

I'm trying to update my libraries but I don't have the Directory Manager anymore and I don't kow why this happened. I just installed the latest version of Vienna Instruments and Vienna Ensemble and I don't know if this was the reason why the Directory Manager disappeared. I'm in Mac OS X Lion.

Also, are there any library updates for Special Edition Vol. 2 (DVD)?

4.Strange nosies in Solo Cello Legato Samples? 3/19/2008 1:48:02 AM
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has the same problem as me. Some Solo Cello Legato samples (specially lowest D,D#,E, F# below middle C and others) have this strange noise in the back which sounds as if the player is hitting the strings very lightly "col legno" when I play those notes in a passage.
Some samples don't have the noise depending on the passages. For example, if I play the lowest C and go up to the next B and back to the C, everything sounds ok, but if I play the lowest C and go up a fourth to F and come back down, the F has the noise and the C does as well. This kind of problem is also present in other notes.
I also noticed that when play the from the lowest A and go to the lowest C, there is another type of noise coming from the right side way in the background but it is audible.
One last thing, the first G and G# below middle C is way mellower than the other notes. If I play from C below middle C up to G below middle C, the G sounds much weaker than the C or other notes.
Does anyone have this problem? Or is it just me? This happens in the Solo Cello Legato of both the Solo Strings Lib. and the Special Ed.

I'm using an 8 Core Mac Pro 2.8, DP 5.13, Leopard.
5.VI Special Edition DP Files? 2/15/2008 11:33:28 PM
Yes indeed. As orchestralalala said, that doesn´t work because the files can´t be recognized by DP. I guess us DP users will have to wait until this is either fixed or do everything manually which wouldn´t be such a good option.

Hi,

I´m trying to open the SE Tutorial DP files but I can´t since they are exec. files. What am I missing?
7.Intel Quad Cores, 2 of 2.8GHz, 2 3.0GHz or 2 3.2GHz? 2/11/2008 10:04:14 PM
Hello everyone,

Thank you guys for your interest in my question, but I as Stephen says, the question still is if it is really worth the exra $1600 for the two 3.2GHz processors instead of the 2.8´s. Perhaps it would be better to buy 2 MacPros w/two 2.8 each (considering we are paying $400 for every 0.1 GHz)?
8.Intel Quad Cores, 2 of 2.8GHz, 2 3.0GHz or 2 3.2GHz? 2/5/2008 3:52:02 PM
Hello,

I'm about to buy a Mac Pro but I want to know if 2 2.8GHz processors will be enough (I'll be sing VI Special Ed. Full + Plus and the Spectrasonics instruments in DP5) or if its worth to spend a couple of thousand dollars more getting 2 3.2GHz? Or maybe just a thousand more for 2 3.0GHz?
Is there really a lot of difference? I know the more processor power the better (besides RAM) but I just want to make sure I don't spend a lot of money and end up by not using that much processor power.

Thanks.

9.MAC PRO w/2 3.2 GHz Quad-Cores or Mac Minis? 2/2/2008 1:16:57 AM

Will do. Thanks again for the advice Brian.

10.MAC PRO w/2 3.2 GHz Quad-Cores or Mac Minis? 1/31/2008 7:22:36 PM
Thank you guys for your replies and recommendations. It looks the winner is going to be the Mac Pro then. Thank you Brian for posting the links to the stores where I can get RAM sticks for a reasonable price.

Best,

-Alvaro
11.MAC PRO w/2 3.2 GHz Quad-Cores or Mac Minis? 1/31/2008 12:54:55 AM
Hello everyone,

I'm about to start buying some equipment for my studio. I just want to know what's a better option, a MAC PRO w/2 3.2 Quad-Cores or start a VSL farm using Mac Minis? I've read that the "Farm approach" is a good choice if you want to have all your samples loaded all the time in the background (which I think is a good if you are actively working on big projects that might require a lot of instruments w/many articulations loaded and playing at the same time right?), but since I just graduated, I will be working on smaller projects. As a matter of fact I'll only be using the VI Special Edition Full and Plus libraries + other stuff such as the Spectrasonics Instrumnets, etc. and probably Solo Strings, Orchestral Strings 1 and 2. I must say that I don't plan on loading a huge amount of articulations and instruments at the same time. And I'll be loading my instruments depending on the project.
In this case which would be the wisest choice?

Thanks
12.Orch. Strings problem on Powerbook G4 11/10/2006 4:18:26 PM
No I have the 828 in the FW400 port and the FW Drive on the 800 one.
I opened my yesterday's DP session and added more instruments and it seems to be performing ok. Its wierd, but in the good sense that now I am able to load an play a couple of instruments with different articulations.

Jerome, what do you mean by after or before the 828?
Funny thing happened, I started a new DP session with 4 VI instances. I loaded 3 patches in my VLNS. and 1 patch in my violas, cellos and basses and they are playing ok. Just a few hours ago I was having trouble with just one patch (especially if I used the mod wheel for Vel XF) and now I have several all with the Vel XF on and everything seems to be working ok. I wonder what happened?
By the way, thanks for the advice about defragging the drive JWL, I'll try that as well.
14.Orch. Strings problem on Powerbook G4 11/10/2006 3:00:21 AM
Thank you all for your responses. As a matter of fact I've tried increasing the buffer but it didn't do any good. As far as the power needed to have a good string section, I am aware that but I'm not going to able to load a lot of patches into a matrix on my G4 and expect them to play properly (that's why I'm getting a new computer in the next couple months) but I am talking about that I can't even play one single patch. This G4 should be able to play at least a few patches isn't it? I'll try to free up some space on my FW drive to see if that helps.
Thanks.

Forgot to tell you, I have my library installed on a LaCie firewire drive and I use the MOTU 828MKII as audio interface.
16.Orch. Strings problem on Powerbook G4 11/9/2006 10:59:56 PM
Hi,
I just purchased Orchestral Strings I and II but they are basically unplayable. Way too many clicks and pops. Any ideas of what could cause this? I'm running these on a 1.67 Ghz G4 with 1.5 Gig in RAM. I know it is not a very powerful computer but I'm surprised I cannot play even a single patch well. Some patches have more problems than others, especially when I turn on the Vel XF and use it with the modwheel. For example, Vlns. stacatto long aren't that bad, but if I turn on the Vel XF the clicks and pops start. The interval perf. legato even without the Vel XF has too many clicks and pops. Remember here that I'm talking about a single patch and not even a Matrix with many patches. I've been able to load projects using up to 10 or even more tracks all at the same time in DP (using the VSL files that come with Kontakt2, EastWest stuff and Spectrasonics) and never had any problems at all. Up to now I haven't been able to play I patch well with VI even using it as stand alone with no other applications open. Any answers to this?
Thanks.
