I recently bought Jazz Drums and I'm completely new to VIP. I've found the JD-GM[X] presets useful and of course it sounds really good. 

I'm in the situation now that I'd like to make mix and match a little. For example, I'd like to have a preset that essentially has JD-GM_Sticks preset as a base, but adding / replacing, say, snare (D1) with a certain brush slap. Or maybe extend the Sticks patch with select brushes on unassigned keys. In addition, I'd like to have the Speed / CC1 assignments as well, so a patch matrix for each key assignment. Also, I'd like to save this new preset as a customer user preset. 

Is there any way to do this easily? Any how-to videos on this out there? Of course, I might addressing the need in the wrong way, please let me know in such case. I know I can keyswitch between the two in JD-GM, but that's not really what I want.

Hi good people,

Been sketching with the Tutti patch. Simple stuff, because it's just backing strings. I have three lines, all Long notes, soft release and I'm using Tutti Ambiance Room mix. Later a line in a higher register comes in.

After sketching I want to convert to separate tracks, as especially the higher register needs better modulation automation.

After separating out the midi the it struck me that while I'm using the same articulations and mixer preset each track, it sounded a little dull and too close. It was lacking shimmer / sparkle. I then doubled the violins with violas, which gave a better result.

Of course, I assume the difference lies in the fact that one note in Tutti may trigger more than one section. Also, the sound of the separate tracks is slightly more boxy and I'm wondering if it's the compounded effect of separate reverbs instead of the one in Tutti glueing all together?

Are there some considerations or advice to achieve the same sound, division of responsibility and a more cohesive sound?

Hej Martin,

NTFS indicates you're running Windows. You may know this already, I've heard quite a few horror stories about built in Windows Defender Antivirus software (or some other anti-virus software) severely lowering performance, especially for sample libraries, which requires a lot of file access and often.

The solution often is to add your source and destination folders to an exclude list, so that the Windows Defender stop checking at every file access. That, of course, has it own set of problems, so you'll have to do your own risk assessment.  

PS. You may have to restart your computer before seeing the effect of adding folders to the exclude list. 

Never mind, finally got it solved. iLok man, something tells me we're not going to be friends...

Synchron Player and Elite Strings worked when I last had it open, with iLok, before upgrading. I upgraded, becuase there was an update in Vienna Assistant. I didn't download any new version of the software from scratch.

So the answer to both your questions is yes.

Pretty much subject.

What I've verified:

• iLok session is running
• Restarted DAW to make sure iLok session is running before starting DAW
• External drive (containing the samples) is mounted
• Verified issue by adding a second Synchron player instrument, no patches from Elite Strings are showing

Been looking at this example reg. divisi: Divisi Special: Synchron Elite Strings & Synchron Strings Pro Divisi Special, by Guy Bacos but I'm a little doubt about how to make use of divisi the way it was intended with Elite Strings and could use a clarification.

I've read the manual on Divisi, which explains that divisi mixer presets are available in the Full library (which I have).

In the video above, parallel melody lines are shown during the divisi sections, but I'm wondering if this is truly on the same track, or if it is separate tracks in a blended view intended for the video, and each of these tracks would then have Mic 1 and 2 enabled respectively? So for example a Violas Div1 (=Mic1) track and a Violas Div2(=Mic2) track?

I felt like I had to look more into your input here.

Turned out that the iLok interface showed the state of an open session (in the menus), but the session must have gone stale somehow or not gotten updated, because closing and starting a new session did the trick! (I know, oldest trick in the book, but everything looked good in iLok)

The iLok session is on and track in Logic was added after starting it.

I also tried removing and adding the aforementioned path again in Synchron settings, just to see if that could trigger some sort of indexing of the instruments, but to no avail.

After doing this I noticed that a file was created in the folder called _latency test, so the player definitely has access to the folder on the external ssd.

I seem to have the same problem with the Vienna Instruments Pro (to use with Jazz Drums) - no instruments / patches are showing. Wondering what the heck is up here. Although, in any case I'm new to to Vienna, so not sure if there is some obvious manual step missing on my behalf, that "everyone" else takes for granted.

Adding a screen dump to show what is in the target folder, in case that gives any clues.

Ok. Regarding the purpose of the Compatibility version, may I suggest that you add this in the description? I believe the description text is the same for both version at the moment (and link to the same product page).

For someone new to the eco system such as myself (and I actually have a friend who might be diving in as well), it would be good to be able to which version that safely can be ignored.

Thank you for the quick response. 

I don't believe this is related to transitioning from e-Licenser to iLok, because I've only recently purchased my first instruments with you (2,5 day ago or so, disregarding the MIR license I have), so all of these have been issued with iLok license. 

What I'm experiencing is no content after I adding and then opening the Synchron player in Logic or, as far as I understand, no indication of a possibility to open an instrument. It looks like it's the default view. 

I believe I've downloaded and installed the correct version of Elite Strings, which has been placed in a folder called: Synchron Elite Strings - iLok. The path shown in the previous picture is correct.
In addition, I've similarly recently downloaded Synchron Player, so everything is all new.
As mentioned, I've also activated my license in iLok cloud.

Did I miss some step or something obvious here? 

Attached is the content from my Installed section in the Vienna Assistant. Green arrow just to indicate how I understand the relationship between player and sample libraries. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. 

This is exactly why I gave up my MPC Live II. Lovely piece of hardware but AKAI kept on adding new features, new synths etc, meanwhile some of the most core functionalities had bugs in them. Some of the bugs were years old, as far as I could tell from the facebook forum. 

In addition to removing feature, a gentle strategy to this is to hide a functionality first for a few updates. Depends on timeframe, of course, but it's a good to gauge any outrage. If no-one objects, remove it entirely.

I recently bought Jazz Drums. I'm new to the VSL eco system in general.

Downloaded and installed Jazz Drums via Vienna Assistant. This is a VI instrument, but I'm not sure which player to use: is it the Vienna Instruments Pro for VI, not to be confused with the other one called Vienna Instruments Pro? Slightly confused as to what the difference is here?

I've downloaded and installed Elite Strings, and I've also activated the license in iLok. 

I just added the Synchron player to a track, but I'm not seeing any patches. I'd expect them here (see attached image), unless there's a step I've missed?

The patch file path seen in the image is correct. 

I believe I saw the same issue here also. I restarted Vienna Assistant and the install buttons appeared for the products I had downloaded but not yet installed.

I'm experiencing something similar to this.

After download in "download-only mode" I have an install button, but seemingly can't get past download space requirement, because it seems the check includes Elite Strings data that has just been downloaded. I'm trying to install onto a different volume than the download volume, so it seems like the check is redundant at this stage. I'll send info and screen shots to support email.

The website CSS dark theme follows the setting on my computer, which is great. 

But there seems to be an overlap in the colors of read-only fields and the chosen font color in the CSS, which hides the contained information.

Yes, missing this part was that was indeed the case, as I mentioned myself above. And it would be unreasonable of me to ask for a refund. I'm not, not fully or partially.

I'm asking for more flexibility in how I can spend the vouchers, so that I don't have to spend money outside my vouchers, until I have spent them all. 

For example, if I have a basket with a total of €140, I would like to be able to spend €140 of my vouchers by using 2 vouchers of €100 value, with the remaining €60 still being held on the second voucher for a later purchase. In this case I would have to spend €40 extra outside the purchase of the vouchers, which is a damage, as you call it. In most stores, vouchers work this way, so it's not an unreasonable request.

However, since this is not possible and probably wont be, the remaining question is still: can I convert the €100-vouchers myself by purchasing €50-vouchers with them (simple 1-to-1 value conversion), thereby lowering any potential remainder when I purchase from you?

Knowing that I'd be diving into the VSL eco system in some way in 2022 I bought vouchers some months ago at a favorable price. 

It turns out they must be used in full. Of course, I understand now that this has always been the case, but I missed that information at purchase, because I was in a hurry.

So here I am... it's ultimately on me for missing this information, but it's still a very real friction. For example: I am currently interested in Jazz drums. Normal price is €76 (€57 with current sale), but in any case I can't use one of my €100 vouchers. Only solution presented here in this forum is to bundle with a different instrument so that the price goes over €100 (use in full).

However, an instrument combo will most likely always go over 100, so while I have several €100-vouchers waiting to be used, I still need to bring out the credit card out to pay for any the remainder of any total that is not divisible with 100. Also, I'm not really interested into buying anything prematurely or with lower priority, just to be able to redeem my vouchers.

Respectfully, and voucher discounts aside, I don't think this is a favorable or customer centric solution.  

What is the life hack solution here? Can I buy €50 vouchers for my €100 vouchers so that I at least can minimize the damage when I have to pay for remainders?

System: MacBook Pro 2019.
OS: Catalina
Logic version: 10.6.1

I’m having the issue that the Mir plug-in I expect to see after installation is nowhere to be seen. I’ve looked in Logic’s plugins manager and what I believe is appropriate places on the main disk, but don’t see it.    

Installed and activated MIR Pro 24 and Room pack 2. eLicenser shows both licenses. I have also successfully run Vienna Mir Pro.app, seems to be working fine. 

Before writing this message I closed Logic, ran Vienna MIR Pro 5.4.16751.pkg (which should install the VST/AU, too), started Logic to force a plug-in rescan. But no success. 

Any advice on this?
