1.Synchron Piano Player Will Not Load in Dorico, Crashes the Audio Engine 12/9/2020 5:37:40 PM

I am unable to get the Synchron Piano VST to load in Dorico or Cubase. I can run the player standalone without issue but if I add it to Dorico, the moment I select a preset ("Pop"), the VST will crash. Dorico will not crash but I will get a warning in the bottom right hand corner that I lost the connection to my audio engine. The same thing happens if I try to use the VSL/Dorico Playback template. I assume these issues are the same.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a new Dorico project
  2. Add new VST instrument
  3. Select Synchron Piano Player.
  4. VST window pops up
  5. Select a preset (ex: Pop from the Sync Vol. 1 Special Edition)
  6. Piano never loads and eventually the audio engine is lost again.

Attached are screenshots from Dorico, a screenshot of a Windows Application log error, and the Synchron Piano Player log. For the log, I added the player (step 3 above) at 12:17:00. I selected the preset (step 5) at 12:18:00.

Windows 10 1909 (18363.1256) 32gb, Dorico 3.5, Synchron Piano Player v1518, all drivers updated. All software uninstalled and re-installed.

Thanks,

Chris

2.Vienna Synchron Player/Piano always crashes my Hosts Cubase 10.5 and Dorico 3.5 12/5/2020 6:34:10 PM

I moved this to its own thread. Thanks

3.Synchron Player (VST3) Cubase 10 PRO crash 2/28/2019 11:28:36 PM

Having the same issue. Windows 10. Everything up to date. Using Cubase 10.

I can load the Synchron Player VST 3 (Rack Instrument). When the player comes up, I can double click to load Synchron Strings or Smart Orchestra but it will crash as soon as I send it some midi data (sometimes creates a dump file, sometimes just takes down Cubase with no dump file). I can however load it within VEP6 and everything works. It does not seem to like being loaded in the DAW though.

4.Velocity, Expression and more (Newbie questions) 3/9/2018 6:14:40 PM

To piggyback off the original question. I have also been trying to get a better handle on how to use X-Fade vs Expression (and Dynamic Range Slider).

I have assigned X-Fade to the mod wheel and I only use that when recording. I then adjust xFade within Cubase for more detailed adjustments. I have not been using Expression (yet). I simply set it and forget it. I think I will go back in later for expression tweaks to ensure everything fits together. Dyn Range I also set and forget (at least for now).

And Master Volume - I might adjust this only at the very end if the section as a whole is too high.

Any thoughts on this? What should the default values for Expression, Dyn Range, and Master Volume be? I want to set defaults that will work for my initial work but also give me wiggle room up or down as I get further along?

Thanks
