1.When will standalone MIR be updated to 6.0? 2/19/2019 9:39:13 PM
Thanks for the response. I guess at this point it will be more likely an upgrade to 7.0 :) I definitely hope to see it happen.
2.When will standalone MIR be updated to 6.0? 1/31/2019 4:42:44 PM

When I open Vienna MIR Pro 5.4 (standalone) it shows a message that version 6.0 of Vienna Instruments and Vienna Ensemble is available. When using MIR in VE 6.0 it is High DPI and it looks very nice.

However, this update does not update the standalone version of MIR. It still seems to be based on an old version of VE, which has the old GUI and is made for low DPI screens.

Can we expect standalone MIR to be updated to 6.0 as well?

3.Konzerthaus organ, certain 8 foot stops not looping on middle C 1/16/2018 2:50:34 PM

I wish the libraries would get updates for known/reported issues like these. We could then always expect a certain quality level of VSL libraries. We can't edit the libraries ourselves after all, even if it's a small change.

4.SYNCHRON STRINGS vs. Old VSL strings Demos (what we were talking about...) 1/9/2018 6:31:04 PM

About the problem with "baked-in reverb" pulsations I even opened a specific post before :). It's a double sided feature the user has to carefully manage. I find my usual work-flow not compatible with Synchron, and I started thinking about and experimenting. My actual opinion is that to keep the quality of Synchron ambience you MUST let the reverb ring, and every serious manipulation of volume is compromising realism a lot.

If you or someone else has Synchron Percussion, is this a problem there at all?

My feedback is that it's nicely done work. ^-^

6.Introducing Legato Blur 1/6/2018 10:23:48 PM
Can we expect this feature to become available for non-Synchron libraries at some point?
7.Synchro player and old libraries 1/6/2018 1:31:13 AM
They said it might in the future, but it will take some work.

I tried it with Chamber Strings but I could hear no difference.

Good demo video. This shows the importance of new options like these for the library, and makes me excited for what the Synchron Player will be able to do with it.

But again, thank you for video. Will check how this blur works.

This is very interesting indeed. :3

Way to make drama out of hearing some opinions different from your own.

Wanting others' opinions to be deleted if you don't like them is not at all constructive. Especially because some of the feedback here is useful and shouldn't be swept under the rug.

Many owners of this library do not seem happy with the legato transitions and that was expressed in this thread.

MIR is excluded. I hope there will be another MIR Pro / Roompack discount soon though. Last time it even was 30% off, but I couldn't make use of it.

I'll be holding my vouchers in anticipation...

I was not talking about phaser pedals... You just seem out to pick a fight and don't make any effort to understand what I mean. I'll pass.

On-topic: I hope to hear more impressions of Synchron Strings users.

It may not bother you, but it's hard to deny that it's an issue.

Where does it have anything to see with the phase ?

The phasing is what makes it sound like more instruments. With a single instrument, there is no phasing until you crossfade, then there is and it sounds like two instruments.

If you crossfade from one single sample to another single sample then the impact is the least. But if you don't take such care, you'll stay in between samples, meaning that most of the time you can hear more instruments playing than in the original samples. Of course this has impact on the sound, but like I said, it's a bigger problem with solo instruments.

And I disagree with your rule "phases are a problem when crossfading between velocity layers", as soon as they're made of different samples.

That's not how a forum works. It's a place for discussion, not an echo chamber for whoever started the thread.

I hope what will be implemented is something similar to Steinberg Zero Downtime. It seems to work for them, right?

22.Articulation Insanity - Studio One 4/3/2017 11:05:01 PM

There is this extension to Studio One that might be useful:

http://studioonex.narechk.net/index_en.html

Quote:
Articulation Assistant command:

Paints Virtual Instrument articulations for the selected notes. Articulation Assistant uses the standard Pitch Name files which can be created and loaded in Studio One Music Editor (Piano Roll view) in Drum Mode. The following animation demonstrates the process of loading and painting articulations in PRV.

23.About to dive in to VSL - eLicenser question 3/29/2017 1:14:59 PM
jasen, here's a summary of the problem:

- If you lose the dongle VSL acts like it's physical property (like studio equipment) you should've insured.
- But physical property is something you can *always* resell, without anyone's permission.
- But they don't want you to do that, only by their grace you can sell your dongle *if* you pay them substantially. They say it's a license.
- But if it's a personal license, you should still have the license if you lose or break a dongle. But you don't. You have to pay either 50% or 20 euros per license.

VSL picks and chooses whether it's property or a license when it's convenient for them, which is the worst case scenario for costumers.

By the way, another discussion about this is held at http://vi-control.net/co...ened-to-vsl.60820/page-3
24.About to dive in to VSL - eLicenser question 3/29/2017 1:52:26 AM

Sorry, VSL is not beyond criticism. As much as I agree that they do good work, that does not include their licensing system, and I'm not the only one who thinks that.

25.About to dive in to VSL - eLicenser question 3/28/2017 9:46:58 PM

Please take my word that what you're noticing is mostly disappointment. I like a lot of VSL's product and am very close to purchasing MIR still, but I can't justify to put more money into something that can be gone the moment I lose a dongle, or I'd have to pay a lot per license for in case it breaks. All in the name of anti-piracy, at the cost of the legitimate customer.
