1.Synchron Player can't find installed libraries... missing package file? 11/27/2022 11:54:24 PM

HI Guys and Gals,

I have Big Bang Andromeda and Smart Hits. I have also a few of the freebies. I just downloaded a trial of the Prime orchestra and the Synchron player can't see it or the freebie instruments. I have pointed the player to the folders that contain the freebies and Prime instruments but it refuses to "see" them. The only difference I can spot is that there is a "package file" for both Andromeda and Smart Hits and not a package file for the freebies and Prime. This has been frustrating as I'm thinking about buying Prime but can't load up the demo.  Any thoughts?

All the very best,

Darren

2.Vienna Key Question 11/28/2019 2:31:58 AM

Hi Guys and Gals,

I'm thinking about buying the Vienna Smart Orchestra and Expansion. Currently I own Vienna Special Editions 1&2 (plus their expansions) and Appasionatta Strings (plus the expansion with sordinos). These libraries are the older non-Synchronized versions.

Do I need to buy a new Vienna Key or will the one I use for these existing libraries?

Thanks you in advance for any help and Happy Holidays,

Darren

3.Vienna Ensemble problem 2/2/2014 11:05:00 PM

I fixed the issue by going back to older versions of the Pro player (2.0.973)  and Ensemble (4.1.0)  in case anyone has a similar issue.

Happy day!

6.Vienna Ensemble problem 2/1/2014 2:26:56 AM

I recently had to replace my C: Drive and had to reinstall my Vienna Stuff. I have a bunch of the Special Editions, Appasionatta 1 & 2, Elements and Fanfare trumpets and the Vienna Pro Player. I was using the free Vienna Ensemble. I downloaded the newest version of the player which also installs the free Vienna Ensemble.  So after the reinstall I boot up Cubase and open a song that has two Vienna Pro instruments inside the Vienna Ensemble program. The Vienna Ensemble program loads up but no Vienna instruments are in it. It appears that the first two slots are occupied... but they're not. If I click on the icon in the bottom left to launch a new Vienna Pro Player instance one pops up and I am able to add a sound to it. The problem is that some songs have a ton of Vienna patches loaded through Vienna Ensemble and even though I meticulously named them in Cubase (for when I have problems just like this) Cubase and Vienna overwrite the names I wrote in and it just says Vienna Ensemble (x64). So I can't even manually reload all of the oatches as i can't remember exactly which ones I had loaded. Is there a bug in the Vienna Ensemble that is now bundled with the Pro player? User error? Someone typed a 1 when they meant a 0? It kills me to think I have to guess at the instruments I had  loaded (no I don't use a template that I can refer to) and it kills me even more to have to manually reload in the instruments. Help? Anybody have this problem?

I'm using Cubase 7.5 64 bit and the latest Vienna player and Ensemble. Can I download an older version of the player and the separate older Ensemle? any help would be so appreciated.

All the very best,

Darren.

7.Special Edition Plus articulations questions 12/26/2011 8:39:42 PM

All,

I have VSL Special Edition and the extended version. I have been thinking about buying the Special Edition Plus DVD and the extended version of this library. Are the extra articulations worth the investment? It's around $900 and for that kind of money there are quite a few nice choices on the market (not necessary apples to apples, but other quality instruments). I have just invested in VI Pro 2 and fanfare trumpets. (love them both) Should I complete my VSL SE or look more towards other orhestral instruments like Albion or Symphobia? I write music in all different styles, soft, Hollywood epic, etc)

Darren

8.New VSL user - what to get next 12/24/2011 8:35:00 PM

Windsurfer,

$250 is not a lot of money in Vienna's world but you get what you pay for. I recently bought the VI Pro 2 player and it is , hands down, the best purchase you could make if you own any VSL libraries. I am having an amazing time making huge layered patches with it. It is a must have as far as I am concerned. I also bought Fanfare trumpets which is a fantastic sound set. To me VSL has always been the Rolls Royce of sample libraries and their new software additions only affirm that these guys are at the top of their game.

Happy Hunting,

Darren

9.Does VI PRO 2 negate Vienna Ensemble? 12/23/2011 2:42:24 AM

Whoops...

Figured it out. Clever little button in the bottom left corner allows you to load in VI Pro and the one next to it VI Legacy...

10.Does VI PRO 2 negate Vienna Ensemble? 12/23/2011 2:18:19 AM

Sorry guys but still having trouble. I downloaded the latest version of Vienna Ensemble and installed it. Then I downloaded the latest version of VE PRo 2 and installed it. When I launch Vienna Ensemble it looks newer than my old version so that update worked. When I add a new intrument the old Vienna PLayer (not my newly purchased VBE Pro 2) posp up in the Vienna Ensemble window.

Any idea as to what I am doing wrong? Do I need to uninstall something. (the old VE player?)

All the very best,

Darren

11.Does VI PRO 2 negate Vienna Ensemble? 12/19/2011 4:58:44 PM

Paul,

Can you point me to the link on the VSL site that has the latest version of the free version of Vienna Ensemble? Also, do I need to uninstall VI Pro 2 and then reinstall after installing Vienna Ensemble?

All the very best,

Darren

12.Does VI PRO 2 negate Vienna Ensemble? 12/18/2011 4:57:34 PM

Are you saying that you can load VI Pro 2 into the older free Vienna Ensemble? When I load up Vienna Ensemble the instrument player defaults to the older version of the Vienna Instruments player, not VI Pro2.

13.Does VI PRO 2 negate Vienna Ensemble? 12/18/2011 1:34:57 AM

My question was really about the amount of ram an empty instance of VI Pro 2 takes up. It seems a tad inefficient to load up 40 or so instances of a piece of software when in Kontakt, for instance, you load it up once and populate it with up to 16 different instruments. In the Kontakt scenario the playback engine is only loaded once and then it's just the samples that add to the memory footprint. If it takes a large chunk of memory to just load up an emypty instance of VSL Pro 2 it will gobble up a lot of memory on a larger template. The fact that it is not mult-timbral was a surprise to me.I'm just hoping I can get a large palette of sounds together on my quad core machine with 8 gigs of ram.  I have to say that VI Pro 2 is very powerful. I am enjoying building up "Symphobia" like layered patches. Well done VSL!

14.Does VI PRO 2 negate Vienna Ensemble? 12/17/2011 8:20:00 PM

 Hi Paul,

Thank You for the quick response. Are there any concerns about additional memory being used up each time an instance is launched? (memory used by VI Pro 2 not the samples themselves) For instance if I load up a 40 piece orcehstra I'll need 40 instances of VI Pro 2 running. Will I be able to host the same amount of instruments as I did with the older version of the player and Vienna Ensemble? (hope this makes sense)

Sorry one more question, Will VI Pro ever be multi-tmbral or will I need to by Vienna Ensemble pro?

Great work on the video tutorials by the way. I learn a lot!

All the very bst,

Darren

15.Does VI PRO 2 negate Vienna Ensemble? 12/17/2011 8:02:54 PM

Probaly a dumb question but I used to use the free VI Ensemble to load in intruments on different MIDI channels. I just bought VI Pro 2 and can't figure out whether I can assign a specific MIDI channel to a Matrix. I hope this makes sense. In other words, like in Kontakt, you have the ability to load in 16 different sounds on 16 different MIDI channels. Can I do this with VI Pro 2 or do I need to launch multiple instances for each instrument I want. (I understand that they will all be Vienna Library Instruments (i.e. no kontakt, omnisphere's etc)

All the very best,

Darren

16.Elicense problem Please help! 12/25/2010 3:16:58 PM

Thanks Paul. Yes the dongles are from my original Cubase and another was from my Lorg Digital Legacy collection. If I buy a new Elicense dongle from VSL will it hold more keys? (as well as other developers?)  The iLok dongle apparently hold quite a few licenses. This is why I was concerned about the old Hypersonic demo licenses that are taking up space on the Cubase dongle.

I am thinking about buying the Fanfare trumpets and new VI Pro. I assume these will need to be licensed and I'll need to have room on one of the dongles.

As far as the other response to this thread above the other key does work (it has my Korg licenses on it) for some reason the Elements license just up and dissapeared. I thank you for the support Paul!

All the very best,

Darren

17.Elicense problem Please help! 12/24/2010 8:41:42 PM

I have two USB E-Licenser dongels on my machine. THe other day I was tryinmg to transfer my VSL Elements lib to the other dongle that holds my VSL SE, + Extended and Appasionatta strings + Extended. The transfer didn't seem to work and now my VSL Elements license is not on either key.

I have installed the most recent version of Elicense (6.1.1.1048) and tried the Recover button. No success. The recover button says:

"Recovery An error occured which prevented the operation from succeeding. Please restart your computer and try again (which I did) or contact your software vendor..." (which I have done directly and am also doing in this forum)

When I try and enter the Activation code Elicence recognizes that it is an VSL Elements code but then gives the following error:

"The activation code has been used already... Please contact..."

What has happened here? I also have an old Steinberg demo of Hypersonic and 3 Hypersonic collections that are on one of my keys that I would like to delete but there is no way of deleting them. When I hilight them the "Remove License" option from the drop down menu at the top is grayed out. I really don't care if these old hypersonic licenses are still there but I really need to fix my Elements issue.

Any help would be appreciated. I have to say that I was pretty Ok with this form of copy protection but now that I am having problems I have to say it sucks. (Not VSL of course, they rule!)

Thanks for any help,

Darren

20.A couple of questions regarding Elements and Strings 11/5/2009 6:40:49 PM

Thank You Beat. You are always so helpful. Any idea on the instrument in the Elements demo?

All the very best,

Darren

21.A couple of questions regarding Elements and Strings 11/5/2009 3:07:54 AM

Hello,

There is a demo song on the Elements page by Bill Brown called Ambient 1. At just over half way through the song there is a very fast string run and then the sound of a very haunting percussive instrument. I assume it is in the Elements library and may be the lithophone? I'm hoping this is an instrument that can be downloaded separately.

Also, I own East West's Gold library and it has a patch for 18 violins called "marcato long" I have used it a lot for faster string lines. It has a quick attack but seems to hold a little longer than a typical staccato patch. Does VSL have a patch like this?  I own VSL SE, VSL SE Extended and Appasionatta Strings and Appasionatta Strings Extended. While the staccatos in Appasionatta are nice they do not hold very long. Does VSL have a patch like this in any of their libs?

I am not well versed in the terminolgy of the orchestra so maybe I have a patch close to this in one of my VSL libs already? I am just looking for a patch to layer behind the percussiveness of a staccato but still "breath" a bit of "space" into the sound. (hope that makes sense!)

All the very best,

Darren

22.New purchase and problems with VSL Ensemble 2.0 4/2/2009 1:30:06 AM

I fixed it! Just installed the latest version of Vienna Ensemble 2 (later build) and it sees everything now! Time to play!

23.New purchase and problems with VSL Ensemble 2.0 4/2/2009 12:46:43 AM

I own VSL SE and VSL SE Extended. I just purchased the Appasionatta strings and am having a problem. When I load up the Vienna Instrument in Cubase I see the Appasioanatta Strings as a choice for patches and matrices. When I load up the Vienna Ensemble I can't see the Appasioanatta Strings as a choice anywhere. However when I load up the Vienna Ensemble in standalone mode there they are again. I have used the Directory Manager and it is pointing to the folder where the Appasioanatta Strings are. (the same folder as SE and SE Extended.) The Vienna Ensemble sees the SE and Se Extended at all times (standalone and in Cubase) Even when the Vienna Ensemble can't see the Appasioanatta Strings it says over on the left hand side of the interface that the license is there. Am I doing sonething wrong? Should I reinstall the Vienna Ensemble?

Any help would be appreciated!

24.Audio demos and Sample Content for New Downloads 3/17/2009 2:55:19 AM

Is there any chance of being able to listen to demos of the new Glass instruments and the Lithphone and see their sample content? I am thinking about buying these in the "Buy 3 get 1 free" Spring offer. (The demo and sample content buttons on the web page seem to have no link)

Can anyone tell me if these are the instrumnets used in the full Elements demos? Specifically Martin's Glass and Stones demos. What would the differnence be between these two libs and the full blown Elements library (aside from the waterphone and tamtam)

All the very best,

Darren

25.Ethnic Instruments and... 3/6/2009 8:06:12 PM

 Herb & Team,

Have you guys thought about branching out into non-traditional orchestral instruments? (besides the rock guitar) Because of the quality of your sound and great  interface it seems like you guys could maybe venture into instruments like the dudk, shakuhatchi, ehru, etc.

Are you also planning on adding to the choir offerings?

Maybe some large percussion?

A guys gotta dream!

Thanks for making such wonderful instruments1

Darren
