1.NEW Synchron Woodwinds 12/11/2021 5:41:34 PM

Hi

Will bass flute be added?

Thanks

2.MIRx presets missing 5/8/2021 8:29:53 PM

This is the screenshot from Ensemble Pro, showing the icon for MIRx and the pop-up dialogue box.

3.MIRx presets missing 5/8/2021 8:28:39 PM
4.MIRx presets missing 5/8/2021 6:46:55 PM

Hi Dietz

Thanks for your suggestion.

A restart did yield them in Instruments Pro, but not in Ensemble Pro.

"No MIRx Venue Presets available"

Thanks

5.MIRx presets missing 5/8/2021 3:20:11 PM

I have recently redownloaded my Teldex MIRx software.

When I try to load this up in Ensemble Pro, or Instruments Pro it does not appear.

In Ensemble Pro, its says no presets are present.

In Instruments Pro, Teledx appears in the drop-down menu, but is not selectable and there are no presets

6.New iMac's - amazing prices 5/4/2021 8:12:14 AM

Hi

So my PC is on its last legs, and I have decided to replace with a good spec'd iMac, 27 inch.

I was about to pull the trigger on Apple's site, but came across this Official Apple reseller on ebay.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/deecies

(The full range of iMacs is 'hidden' under the 'More' menu item.  They seem to offer every possible combination.  https://www.ebay.co.uk/s...ther/_i.html?_storecat=1)

They have been on ebay since 2001. They have a 100% positive feedback for last 12months, 2.3k plus lifetime reviews.  Reviews are all very good and gushing.

For a 2020 27 inch iMac, with 10 core, 10th gen i9 .. 128G RAM (128 !!!) ... 1TB SSD ... and 5700 XT video card, I managed to order for £3850, inlcuding VAT and delivery.   Listed at £4,099 ... but they accept offers. Brand new, manufactured to order (3 week delivery timescale)

The exact same iMac on Apple store is £5,999  I seem to have saved £2,150 on a brand new top of the range iMac.

Anyway, based on all of the positive reviews I have ordered.  But would obviously be interested to hear if anyone else has had experience of them, good or bad.  I am puzzled by their business-model. My best guess is, they buy in bulk (discount), base models ... and then upgrade memory and storage themselves (& hence not chargin the apple tax).

7.Moving from PC to iMac - best options for sample storage 5/2/2021 3:01:23 PM

Thank you Macker for your insights.  Really appreciate it.

Thanks in particular for pointing out that Thunderbolt SATA caddies are not going to offer Thunderbolt 3 speeds.

I think your suggestion to connect via USB might be the best option.

Hmmm. After a bit (a lot) more browsing I am wondering whether using one of these, (CalDigit TS3 Plus)  to offer genuine USB 3.1 via thunderbolt, in conjunction with some USB 3 to SATA cables.

8.Moving from PC to iMac - best options for sample storage 5/1/2021 3:16:53 PM

My current PC is on it last legs.

I am thinking of moving to one of the latest iMacs, and storing samples on external drives.

All of my current samples are stored on 3 separate SATA SSD.

I am finding it difficult to find out:

a) can I buy a caddy to connect my existing SSDs that will convert to thunderbolt 3

b) what other options are available for external large volume SSDs?

Does anyone have any recommendations?

9.After New Update (5.4.13715), VEP Window Closes After Loading Project 4/25/2015 4:07:52 PM

Something similar is happening for me, but this ha[[ens when I load the stand-alone client.

Even worse after loading a project ... VEP window disappears totally ... although I can still hear and interact with it via the midi keyboard. But no icons, no windows to see. Its invisible !

10.So MIR now comes with absolutely no bundled impulses? 4/4/2013 11:22:06 AM

Hi

I thought the new MIR 24 pricing would be a cheap way to get aboard ... but I see that I will have to pay at least an additional €165 to make use it.

Or is there a minimal set of impulses included?

thanks

11.MIR and DAW on a single PC 11/16/2012 6:06:31 AM

Thank you for the overnight responses.

- The older generation Xeons I am considering do not seem to be as fast as the i7, according to the benchmark test results (thanks for the link).

(The new generation prices rise very rapidly exceeding a reasonable budget for me)

- And even though they would be in a dual configuration, they are much more expensive, the mobo seems to be very outdated (no sata 3, or usb 3) ... and although they enable upto 192GB, I can't foresee needing that amount in the next 4 years, especially as Sergino points out SSD mean relatively smalller amounts of RAM are required.

An i7 Hex core overclocked to 4.4Ghz with 64GB RAM would seem to be more than adequate for my needs, costs £1000 less than the xeons,  (64GB v 32GB RAM is only £100 more ... no brainer)

(The £2200 price tage, is for the complete system I might add. Excellent case, silent cooling, silent 850W power supply and silent ATI graphics, 240gb ssd system drive, and Windows 7 64bit Pro)

Thanks again to everyone for your thoughts and insight. I am very grateful.

12.MIR and DAW on a single PC 11/15/2012 8:01:40 PM

Thank you everyone for the advice you've given.

So my choice comes down to the following;

I want to be able to Cubase 64bit, VSL, MIR 24, and a mixture of Kontakt instruments etc,   all on a single system.

Typical arrangements are between 24 and 30 VI's.

Options

1)   i7 3976 Hex Core, overclocked to 4.4Ghz with 64GB Ram  for £2,200 (no spare capacity beyond 64GB)

or

2)    Dual Intel Xeon E5640, Quad Core, each 2.66Ghz, with 48GB Ram for £2,903  (capacity to 192GB)

or

3)   Dual Intel Xeon X5650, S 1366, Westmere Six Core, 2.66GHz, with 48 GB RAM for £3,200 (capacity to 192GB)

Would the i7 suffice?

If not, which of the Xeon system would you go for ... is the 4core E5 more powerful than the 6 core X5?

Thanks for your suggestions.

13.MIR and DAW on a single PC 11/13/2012 7:24:41 PM

Thank you for the kind replies everyone.

Maybe an overclocked i7 with a motherboard upto 64gig will suffice.

If you want more than 32 Gig RAM you need 2 Xeon CPUs. I would recommend the new E5 CPUs. With this you be able to host your DAW and your VSL with MIR.

Thanks for processor suggestion.

I think this is the basis of the scan.co.uk system I am looking at. Why do you recommend this processor family in particular?

Be greatful if you have a moment to share your views.

15.MIR and DAW on a single PC 11/12/2012 11:01:36 PM

Many thanks for the replies.

After doing my own research I think I will I think I will give myself a budget up to £3k, and go for a dual Xeon system ... with 32gig, with expansion capacity toward 192gig. (I'm fed up of buying new system every three years becuase I've run out of memory capcity ;-)

I don't have the time to build a system myself, so was considering scan.co.uk

Can anyone suggest any other reputable DAW system builders in the UK, that might be worth considering?

16.MIR and DAW on a single PC 11/12/2012 1:43:36 PM

bump...

Anyone able to advise me on a spec for a machine capbale of runnin both DAW and MIR?

thanks

17.MIR and DAW on a single PC 11/10/2012 11:48:08 AM

What machine would you recommend for a combined DAW and MIR host.

I am not a professional, and rarely use more than 24 instruments in a piece.

I am looking to replace current workstation with something upward of 32gigs (with even more room to expand for memory).

But as to CPU's, I have not kept up with developments over the last 3 to 4 years ... so do not know my i7 from my xeons.

Budget might be £1.5k,

Thanks

18.Dimension Strings - auto divisi 9/23/2012 12:04:31 PM

Yes, my orginal question was whether if playing, say a chord, the software would automatically play the separate notes on different different violins.

19.Dimension Strings 9/20/2012 1:13:52 PM

Will this be available via the Vienna Hard drive?

I recently had a bit of nightmare downloading an Albion library over a weekend ... and that was only 20 Gig .... downloading 33 Gig ... and more in the future is a bit impractical for me.

20.Dimension Strings - auto divisi 9/20/2012 11:43:58 AM

I am tempted by Dimension Strings (after having sworn to myself only 2 weeks ago, "no more string libraries")

Although I never bought Dimension Brass, I was impressed by Auto Divisi.

Is there something similar in Dimension Strings?  (Does it even make sense I'm wondering? )

Thanks

Andrew

21.Jazz Drums question 7/7/2012 12:48:06 PM

Sorry, but how do I install these files ... have looked in the vienna area and can only see .dat files.

thanks

22.Have you any white papers on the use SSDs with VSL? 11/26/2011 10:15:16 AM

Amazed by latest version of Pro 2.

Up until now my templates have not been that large, but for the first time I think would like to load many more samples to take advantage of the new features.

So I see you also have a promotion for a manufacturer of SSD.  I have a couple of SSD's already but, but they are SATA.

I think I would like to invest in SSD now for my entire VSL library.

I calculate I need about 600GB.

But now I am new to the concept of PCIe SSDs.

Do you have any white papers on the benefits of PCIs over SATA? Have you done any calculations about the size samples that could be loaded if PCie were used verus SATA.

Thanks

23.Bosendorfer ... very quiet instrument 7/6/2011 8:35:15 PM

(Huh?   I own "boatloads" of your stuff ... all properly registered ... under this this log-in  ... I could buy new Mercedez for the amount of money I've spent with you)

I am referring in this instance to the first piano library ... the inexpesnive one.

So the output on this is deliberately set lower than other libraries. Is this set in the instrument or is it in the samples?

Thanks

Andrew

24.Bosendorfer ... very quiet instrument 7/6/2011 5:54:04 AM

Hi

Just bought the Bosendorfer ... lovely sound, but very very quiet instrument when compared to other piano libraries.

is it just me?

thanks

25.[SOLVED] Installed latest version of Ensemble PRO ... license disappeared 8/25/2010 5:26:59 PM
