1.More Color and Timbre for the Composers 8/17/2006 8:15:20 PM
You are right of course..... However, VSL has provided a great template for orchestral tones. It's up to us to fabricate the rest of the nuances. Either that or hire live musicians to play the part.....
2.Appassionata Strings for the rest of us 6/12/2006 4:19:42 PM
I second that..... Heres my 1 and only problem with the upgrade scenario, if I buy the Orch Strings 1 and download the upgrade.

My whole system currently is geared for Pro Edition. This will leave my Violin-14 and Appasionata sections as ANOTHER seperate program I have to run with Giga and Cubase. So now if this is the case, I'll have Cubase, VSL PErformace Tool, Giga Studio AND VI interface to navigate.....I am real turned of by this. Too many programs running, more cause for concern with Errors.....We all know how unstable Giga is......

So these new Strings only work with the New VI Interface? Or do they also work with the performance tool.

4.Gigapulse Problem 5/7/2006 3:55:08 PM
Hi Omega,

Yeah I checked that out but it's real cryptic. No REAL information about it at the site, which sucks. I was hoping you or someone you knew had it...keep me posted. It does look like it's something we could both use.....

5.Gigapulse Problem 5/5/2006 4:44:04 AM
Yeah I know, can you believe it? I wish I had known this solution before I reformatted my machine and reinstalled everything ..... Shows what you will do when your desperate to get something working....... I don't know what possesed me to try it....Nevertheless, glad it worked...

Now mabey you can help me out........Have you heard anything about that new GVI coming out. A dedicated Gigastudio VST program.....I can't find any real info....

6.Gigapulse Problem 5/4/2006 9:04:01 PM
Omega,

Don't laugh when I say this.....I was having the exact same problem with my system which is similar to yours. I was until I opened the case a blew all the dust off of my CPU fan and the powersupply....Now my Giga and Gigapulse act normal......No joke.
My theory is that all that dust was acting like insulation trapping heat and thus letting my processor overheat.

7.Appassionata Violins 5/2/2006 5:17:53 AM
Herb,

Just so I'm clear, I'm going to have to buy at least the Orchestral Strings 1 Vienna Instruments standard package in order to get these Appasionata strings as a "bonus?". Not that I mind, the more strings the better. I'm going to get everything eventually.... I just want to be able to have access to these samples..... And would like to know the quickest route. Please draw me a map....

I'm a pro user but don't have the VI yet...Am I going to have to pay for these? If so, how much?

9.Strange glitch!! 4/25/2006 10:40:12 PM
Guy,

You're use of samples is obviously at an advanced stage. I really enjoyed your demos on you webpage. Question for you about the VI. You mentioned that you can allow a "GREAT" amount more instumentation with VI in real time as opposed to the pro-edition. Can you elaborate a little? Thanks!

10.NEW VST Gigastudio? 4/25/2006 3:59:11 PM
I hear Tascam is coming out with a dedicated VST Gigastudio this year. What do you guys think of this? And how is this any different than just getting the free VST adaptor? Are you all thinking of getting this?

It's called GVI....Just remembered the name.

11.List your 3 favorite all-time film-scores 4/24/2006 10:59:20 PM
You know another similar scenario with regards to this was Congo. I thought the score was great, movie not so great. Jerry G, had a knack for keeping me intersted even though the move was flat....

14.Running VSL and other sounds libraries TOGETHER? 3/29/2006 6:53:19 AM
VSL, as good as it is (and it is the best), is just another sample library, so Of course you can draw sounds from other librarys and use them together.....That is, if Herb lets you [Wink]

Hi All,

It looks like the folks at http://www.starshipexeter.com finally released Act II of the episode The Tressarian Intersection". This ones a doosy! I can see why it took them so long to edit....The music was done 4 months ago...Enjoy!

18.Fixing Latency with GIGA-VSTi? 1/28/2006 8:18:44 AM
Hi Polar,

Yeah the Voxengo stuff looks like it's a little better, like .22 milliseconds or something. Makes all the difference though. Thx. My giga is acting wierd regarding latency and CPU spikes. I guess it's time for a re-install....

19.Epic Violins for our "Pro's" - an offer 1/26/2006 8:00:28 PM
Hey VSL peeps!

Hows the recording session going with the new strings? Should be doing it around this time according to my calculations?

21.Fixing Latency with GIGA-VSTi? 1/25/2006 12:06:53 AM
Greetings,

After frustrations with re-wire, I just installed GigaVSti from FX-max and hooked it up Via Cubase. It works pretty good, but for the life of me I can't get the latency fast enough WHEN I'm using a VST effect like SIR or Voxengo? Otherwise the real-time playing latency is fine (without any effects going). Any Ideas where I should adjust?

22.Giga slowing down? 1/13/2006 4:55:08 PM
I understand that after your computer has had some mileage programs don't perform like they use too initially. My problem is related to Gigapulse..... I use to be able to run 2 instances of gigapulse with 7 or 8 simutaneous midi tracks without any hiccups...Processor level running at around 50%....This was a year ago. Now, I can barely run 1 instance with about 3 midi tracks before it starts to hiccup. Anyone know what would cause such a dramatic bog down and how to fix it. I've defraged my system, checked for Viruses, cleared all my spyware........ HEre is my system...

23.Freezing Midi Tracks in Cubase 3.0 SL 1/10/2006 7:24:05 PM
I'm sure this is a simple thing once you get to it.... Anyone?
24.Epic Violins for our "Pro's" - an offer 1/10/2006 4:46:30 PM
Janilia,

I agree with you, I don't believe just making the section bigger will solve everyones problem. Concentrating on the tone and the Vibrato probably will make them sound more "Real" (What ever that word means now). The fact of the matter is.....We are still going to have to tweak them and add our own imperfections to the samples to give it a human touch. People expecting Epic Strings to solve all thier string problems out of the box WILL be disapointed, I guarantee.

25.Freezing Midi Tracks in Cubase 3.0 SL 1/10/2006 7:04:01 AM
Hi,

I'm relatively new at Cubase. Can anyone tell me how to freeze a track in Cubase. The help file "Tells" me but it doesn't show me. What does the Freeze button look like in the inspector? Am I missing something? Thanks.
