1.Separating audio from midi over lan aka--Using local sound card whilst in client mode 2/6/2010 3:00:13 AM

An excellent idea to be sure.  I hadn't really thought it through.  I just got Ipmidi and am using VEPro in standalone mode.  But, retaining the features of client mode whilst (I love that word) using Adat or Madi to bring the audio back would really be the best of both worlds.  Though I'm sure you'd lose some of the conviences of client mode in the processes.

2.Separating audio from midi over lan aka--Using local sound card whilst in client mode 2/5/2010 7:50:24 PM

Using the 32bit with 5 instances of Kontakt 3.5.  Run a test for me if you would.  I tested the system over serval days by just using a single patch of an 8 bar sustained looped over and over.  Every 3 to 10 minutes I'd get a noticable dropout.  In actuall practice it would drop out every 15 to 20 minutes.  I just can't take it.  I know for many that this would probably be fine, but I just can't handle it.  Makes me doubt every mix I do thinking that I've recorded a pop or dropout, ect.....

3.Audio over LAN - your experiences 2/4/2010 9:38:29 PM

I really like the mixing software but for me the audio over LAN is too inconsistent to trust in day to day work.  Even the latest build gives me dropouts every few minutes.

I would get it and just do a test on your system to see if you can live with it.  Latency is just a little bit sluggish running at 256 on my main machine and running 2x buffer over LAN.  The software is good, but the audio over LAN is not that great imo.  Also, I've heard that the instability increases as you add more machines.

I don't fault VSL for the less than adaquate performance of audio over LAN.  I've used FXteleport audio over LAN and it also has the same problems.  LAN just isn't well suited for the work that we do.

But VEPro is a more than capable mixing host.  Probably the best one out there.  I plan on using it in standalone and using IPmidi and using ADAT for audio back.  Kind of combersome but on initial test it seems to be the most stable solution with no dropouts at all and extremely low latency.

best,

Jose

4.Separating audio from midi over lan aka--Using local sound card whilst in client mode 2/1/2010 12:04:36 AM

It would just be nice to have this feature.  I also like VEPro as a host.  Just not liking audio over lan much.

5.Separating audio from midi over lan aka--Using local sound card whilst in client mode 1/31/2010 7:46:03 AM

Hello,

I was wondering if there are any plans to do this.  I want to use the midi over lan feature in VEPro but I want to lightpipe the audio back to the DAW.  Audio over Lan is driving me crazy.  Too unstable.  Too much latency for any serious work.  But, instead of buying Midi over Lan I'd like to use VEPro as both a midi over lan app and a standalone vst host.

Thanks,

Jose
