1.synchron vs VIPro 10/16/2019 11:37:28 PM

Just wondering, I use mir pro in each channel that represents one instrument or set of intruments and by that i can decide where my 2 Mic position to, so why do we need to have MIR Pro support multiple mic positioning if i can use it the way i described it above? so if i decide i would have 32 channels for my song, then i can have at least 32 mic positions

What am i missing?

2.Practice shaping 9/20/2019 7:58:33 PM

Okay thanks.

Now the following question is going to be, is there a way to import PDF music notes directly to Cubase?

3.Practice shaping 9/18/2019 6:43:20 PM

Hi All,

Is there a place online to find songs played by multiple insturments so that i can practice shaping?

Also is it a midi file as raw that i can find to work on? Or

Notations for muliple instruments for one song that i have to plug them in Cubase and shape each instrument individually then put it all together?

How does everyone do that? do you just play a song on your keyboard, record the midi then shape it, and you do that for voilins, brass, woodwind, percussions, piano, etc?

Thanks.

4.Cubase editor 8/16/2019 8:47:49 PM

Hi Ben,

The way i picture this that is if i'm playing (live, or recording) using both of my hands, i can use the mouth piece as a third hand adding effects for any CC at a time but,

if i do have a midi recorded, so i don't need to use my hands, or i can free up one hand at least, can't i assign any fader or the mod wheel and make the same effect against the CC instead of the mouth piece?

5.Cubase editor 8/15/2019 8:06:44 PM

Thanks Ben, Bogdan for your replies,

I have heard of the breath controller but never put a thought into it,

now i'm checking sweetwater, they have this one

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/hb1MIDI--hornberg-research-hb1-midi-breath-station

$840

Are there different types of them? like one is smooth and one is not? or any basic device should just do the work?

also when you're done recording with one, do you see a wave after that in the editor for a certain dynamic? or you don't see anything

6.Cubase editor 8/14/2019 10:14:32 PM

Hi All,

I'm still learning, is everybody uses cubase editor - pencil to draw shapes for any song notes ex.:(CC11, CC3, CC14, etc),?

I just think even if i spend so much time to perfect drawing the shape i want  If you ask me to do it again, i guess it won't be the same.

In other words, how would i make sure i can make the same effects drawing shapes using the pencil and expect same results?

I have tried to use other tools (square, sin, triangle) but they don't serve well as I need to have a random shape.

Is there a way to do this more accurately or consistantly? or at least whatever i do, i can repeat it and expext same exact results?

or is it all close enough, around 80% (i'm just throwing any % here) close to the desired shape and eventually to the desired output sound for that patch?

Thanks

7.VE pro 6 and Cubase 9.5 6/7/2019 9:19:53 PM

No. You should hear the sound with VE Pro in focus. Right now what's in focus here is a different instance, #2, than what I have in Key Editor solo edit, communicating with a channel in #4 and it sounds. Something is wrong if this is not true.

Are you saying i should hear the patch sound and VEpro in focus too BUT the Instance/Channel/Port in VEpro in focus "should" be the same as in Cubase if i'm playing that patch?

In other words if i solo some patch in Cubase and it doesn't match what is highlighted in VEpro while the latter is in focus, then i don't hear a sound, correct?

8.Vienna Suite Pro 6/3/2019 5:23:16 PM

Hi all,

I have Vienna Suite pro, but i can't find Hybrid Reverb Pro or it is named differently.

i'm actually looking for convolution reverb but i found with VS pro, i have the complete version of the same reverb, and supposedly its called Hybrid Reverb, but for some reason i can't scan it in VEPro.

What am I missing?

Thanks

9.Memory question 6/3/2019 5:12:56 PM

Hi Jasen,

I thought i mentioned i had Apollo Twin MKII DUO 2x6 Thunderbolt (that is my sound card)

to answer you:

1- no i'm not sure, how do i know if the signal is clipping or not?

2- I'm very sure my UAD sound card drivers are up to date (at least I'm sure of that) now, the settings? so there is a buffer setup at the sound card level so that is my sound card and windows, then there is buffer settings on VEPro, then there is buffer settings or sampling rate at the DAW level with is CuBase 9.5.

i played with those settings but maybe there was improvement 10% difference, i think the crackling is gone at least 80%, but when i pick another sound more richer i still get sound clipping.

also i noticed, it is kind of it clips at the beggining then it cashes it out it acts a little better after hitting the first note, then when i switch to a different not, it clips again and then it stabilizes again.

it is just puzzaling with this kind of hardware (sound module - the UAD with thunderbolt, CPU and memory) and i can't play one single note without clipping, never the less putthing 100 tracks together and use muliple sound processing (filters, reverb, etc...)

10.Memory question 5/30/2019 6:54:49 PM

Hi All,

I'm still learning and here is what i have:

I-7 4 core - PC

64MB RAM

Apollo Twin MKII DUO 2x6 Thunderbolt

VEPro 6 and Cubase 9.5

Running everything in one machine.

So i was trying to assess my system, i played 6 notes of Trombone same time from VSL libraries, here is what happened:

Crackling sound in my speakers, i thought speakers somehow broken, so i switched to headphones (sennheiser) same thing happened- crackling, the appolo showed max red light on the meter, Cubase showed red light on the Volume.

Can someone explain to me why is that? my system should take more than that.

11.VE pro 6 and Cubase 9.5 5/21/2019 6:34:00 PM

Hi all,

I have an external midi controller, M-Audio workstation 88 keys, it does have piano keys and knobs and sliders.

if i open a cubase session and add Vienna Instrument from the rack, i can control VI instance from my midi controller, and that means playing the sound and adjusting all sliders and knobs

if i use VE server pro and create an instance and connect from my cubase, add instrument track etc...

i can play that patch on my midi controller keys, BUT i can't use the knobs and sliders anymore.

Does anyone know what do i need to do to set that up?

Also when i think about this.. as you know when you want to hear the sound you have to bring Cubase project to the front, but then when you want set the sliders in VI (adanced tab), you have to bring VE pro to the front and you can't adjust and hear the difference same time, it seems to me it is not the best way to deal with this.

and if you ask me how do i use this now, it looks like you need to know exactly all your sliders (0-127) and where they suppose to be and then run the sound.

am i missing something?

Thanks

12.VSL online training 3/18/2019 6:21:21 PM

Hi there,

i'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but if it is not, maybe you can direct me to where can i post my question,

for the VSL online training that is 7 months, as prerequisite, how much knowledge should i have in:

1- Music, able to read music scores (still a beginner)

2- Skill level of Digital Orchestration (still a beginner)

3- Skill level of using DAW (still a beginner)

Thanks.

13.New to VSL 8/13/2018 7:48:38 PM

Hi Paul,

Sorry I was away, now i'm back, so what is the best way to enrich the sound of VSL libararies, now i'm hearing from people that UAD plugins will create big lantencies,

I have consulted with sweetwater and they suggested to me to buy VSL Libararies (i got special edition 1,2,3 and 4)  with appolo MK2 quad core and bunch of plugins for sound processing as it has 0 latency.

i have apolo mk2 quad, i have VSL, i have cubase 9.5, all in one PC.

the sounds are high quality but needs reverb and other processing, not ready for production.

so my question what is the best way to set all that up?

Thanks

-John

14.Multiple computers vs UAD MK2 quad 8/3/2018 6:45:03 PM

sorry ... Vienna Enssemble Pro 6 .. got it

15.Multiple computers vs UAD MK2 quad 8/3/2018 5:02:29 PM

Hi James,

Few things that i didn't understand here, don't forget i'm just setting up this and learning how it works.

You won't be able to run UAD plugins from VEP6 on slave machines (what do you mean by VEP6?)

i'm still not clear of your reply, are you saying we don't need to buy UAD, the plugins are worthless at the end?

I'm still asking do we need UAD at all if i'm using VSL, how am i suppose to get an hp output without UAD or sound module?

are you saying i need UAD but plugins are worthless (at the end)? then how do i enrich the sound from VSL as it is dry as you may know?

are you saying the best solution is using master slave computers with VSL? how many slaves (servers) do i need?

initially (and in theory) i thought i can run everything in one single strong computer (which i have) and use a sound module to add processing at the end which has 0 latency.

is there such thing that i can use slave machine(s), with master and i still use the master with UAD and its plugins? so the audio signal goes from the slaves to the master through my DAW and enrich it in the UAD plugins?

let me list the plugins that i have and sure, please send me your list:

ps: doesn't include the free ones that came with UAD appolo (bought 6 plugins)

1-AMPEX ATR102 Mastering tape recorder

2- API Vision Channel Strip

3- Dytronics Cyclosonic Panner

4- Lexicon 224 D reverb

5- Manley Variable Mu Limiter Compressor

6- Manley Massive Passive EQ

Thanks

16.New to VSL 8/2/2018 8:08:50 PM

Hi all,

I'm still new to this but i had other program with lots of sounds very old.

my question is, i asked my vendor of how to select and choose among products is VSL, they told me i just need to buy the complete edition VSL,

Now i see lots of names like Synchron, MIR, what are these, do i need them?

what i have Cubase, VSL, i thought i need to connect both and building tracks

Thanks

17.Multiple computers vs UAD MK2 quad 8/2/2018 6:02:37 PM

Hi everyone,

i have a general question, let me start by saying what i have.

1- One computer (PC), latest hardware and lots of RAM

2- Cubase

3- VLS special edition complete

4- UAD thunderbolt, MK2 Quad core.

5- Reference speakers, headphones, others.

What I’m trying to do is combine quite a lot of sounds (in general) to play sound track movies and others.

I have been looking around in youtube and other forums to see if i need to run client server with VLS, so using master PC and multiple server(s).

my question is, as i can see using UAD is so powerful with all the additional processing (equalizer, compressor, etc)

Do i still need to invest in multiple PCs to run my projects?

I'm not sure when i will start seeing coughing (popping and clicking) sounds (overload processing) while i'm trying to do what i want to do.

I don't mind spending money (actually i have more than few PCs), but the headache and the work involved setting up all of this (might be overwhelming)  which will push my focus away from creating music and just dealing with computers.

I'm doing this as a hobby, not a business, but i don't want to have limitations, especially i struggle a lot with older system that had huge latencies.

Thanks for your input and time.

-John
