1.Vienna vs Hollywood Strings... 1/16/2010 1:27:19 PM
fritzflotow wrote:

I woul definately not fall for this offer:

1) From the demos you can tell that it's definately not bad, but also not, if it's really great.

2) For me every newly recorded string legato performance sounds great in the beginning (if it's not really bad, like the other new competitor next to lass, I forgot the name), but that's only because it's fresh. You start to hear more details using the library.

2) I hate east west for their policy (forum moderated, huge discounts after a short time,...)

3) The Play engine still sucks, especially on mac.

4) One year ahead for 700 bugs in a 2for1 deal.

... Ahhhhh, feels good to talk freely, my attempts to write in the soundsonline forum ... but I admit, the chromatic violin runs where the best I encounterd, if they are really playable (why did they include major and minor runs thought???).

I will rather wait for next VSL strings and maybe lass2 (lass is my only strings in addition to almost all VSL Strings). Where are the damn choirs ...?

Fritz.

I thought the end was really nice on the demo. Sort of sounded real.

2.Does anyone use VI on Sonar? 8/10/2009 2:46:17 PM

I use Sonar, and have no problems at all with it. I have 4gb with a AMD dual core. Runs excellent.  Hope this helps.

Best, Joseph

3.It'd be great if you could have a listen 8/3/2009 2:43:56 PM

Very nice work on all. Also have to say Crystal is my favorite. Keep up the good work. Best, Joseph

4."Sadness of Sauron" and "Mourning" 3/15/2009 10:40:29 PM

Guy well done in all. Really like what you have done. Best, Joseph

5.New Amazing Impulse Response Lib. EMT 245 11/24/2008 2:11:45 PM

Thanks a ton for the link! Just got them today, and the Lexicon IR's sound very sweet & smooth. Even simply running a verb at a low level on an entire mix added a wonderful hint of clarity and wideness to the music. Excellent stuff, right outta the box! Cant wait to dig in deeper

Totally agree.. I have just downloaded the impulses. They do have a nice warmth to them. For the price, not bad. Best, Joseph
6.My First Mix using VIENNA SUITE 11/16/2008 12:43:04 PM

Chuck, I thought it was a nice piece.  Well done. Best, Joseph

7.Comments Please 7/15/2008 10:47:35 PM

Its been sometime since I put I post up. Comments are truly welcomed on this piece. It is cut short, since the full version is about nine minutes. Would love some thoughts on the mix. Will be adding a Tenor once I know my mix is fine, and the sound. Then I will post the long version. The Title is The River Flows. Many Thanks in advance. Best Joseph

8."Comments please!", part 2: Long and winding roads................ 7/10/2008 1:28:31 AM

Hi Erik, after all in all I now prefer number one. I would love to hear this with the App strings, which I have. I also own the KH library, but I noticed today after long sustains the KH library it loses it beauty, which I do not find in the App strings. In other words from a nice Vibrato to a non Vibrato, no matter if I adjusted the settings or not, which of course I did not find in his heavy vibrato samples, which carried a nice sustain.   I have been back and forth with both libraries all day trying to make a comparision since I really had the time to really dig into them for hours on end for the first time..As of now I prefer the Vienna.  KH does have a fantastic library also. It can be, I also do not control the controllers correct in Kontakt. But I still find the App strings, the Pro edtion Giga format I have, still to have more of a rich sound. My thoughts of course.Best, Joseph

9."Comments please!", part 2: Long and winding roads................ 7/8/2008 11:43:39 PM

Erik, I must admit, the second version breeds more life. More expressive.. I would like to hear them both with more reverb in it. My thoughts of course. Best, Joseph

10.Sibelius 5.2 and Vista 7/5/2008 11:26:21 AM

Hi Chris, When you reopen Sibelius, in the playback devices did you try rescan, closing Sibelius and then reopen. It should show. If not, send me a PM with your e-mail and I will send you a snap shot of my folders. I know how frustrating it can be, I also had the same problem. Best, Joseph

11.Sibelius 5.2 and Vista 7/4/2008 8:04:43 PM

Hi Chris, What does your VST folder have in it for Sibelius?  Does it show the dll file for the Vienna Ensemble?  If not you need to drag the Veinna dll file into the Sibelius VST folder. I am also running the same config as you. And had the same problem. Hope that helps..Best, Joseph

12.Vienna ensemble and Sibelius 5.1 7/4/2008 3:04:04 PM

Glad to here that. It can be frustrating at times. Best, Joseph

13.Vienna ensemble and Sibelius 5.1 7/4/2008 11:49:56 AM

Hi Richard, Yes it does sound right. I had downloaded the V2 from the Vienna site, the same as you. Then I dragged the Vienna dll file only in the Sibelius folder VST. Then opened Sibelius hit scan, then closed Sibelius, and reopened and all was fine. You should be okay, since it shows the dll file within the plugin folder. Let me know how you make out. Best, Joseph

14.I couldn't find out my activation code... of cause I've already registered 7/4/2008 11:30:33 AM

15.Vienna ensemble and Sibelius 5.1 7/3/2008 12:22:39 PM

16.Sibelius users need help 6/28/2008 10:53:20 AM

Thanks CM for the reply. Yes my M-Audio card works fine. And I did not need a midi mapper as Sibelius support had told me. I just had to do some editing in the VST plugin folders in the registry. All is up and running fine. Best, Joseph

17.Sibelius users need help 6/24/2008 12:36:17 PM

Anybody?

18.Sibelius users need help 6/23/2008 11:20:15 PM

I have just installed Sibelius 5.2 on my PC. I have been on the phone with support for hours now. They are telling me I need to run it through the Vista audio card, and a midi mapper and not my M-Audio. It starts once and after closing the program cannot be started again, locks my computer up. And they are telling me this is the problem..Can anybody tell me there set up. I am using the Vienna ensemble, windows vista with 4gb of ram. Best, Joseph

19.Tedious Download Process - Can't it be Improved? 6/14/2008 4:02:00 PM

I am downloading the woodwinds now. And so far no problems. I can get two files downloading at a fairly nice speed. It is time consuming somewhat. But no complaints....

20.List your favorite Composers 6/13/2008 8:42:58 PM

Samuel Barber would be on my list first, then comes Ennio Morricone.

Hi ktnujynisis,

well, what do you need?

Best,

A new wife would be nice. One not so cheap. One that always answers if you need it, buy it. Where can a man find one of these lovely creatures at? Thats all I need. Any suggestions would be helpful. Best, Joseph
