Thank You Dietz, yes ofcourse alot of things are important for a great Balance. I have the Feeling that the Viola Sections and cello sections fighting with the woodwinds, and i have alot of different woodwinds. I now experimentate with Vienna Suite Compressor Presets.

Hi Guys,

i have fun working on a Humperdinck Opera with basic VI Instruments and MIRx, while i plan to go for MIR Pro soon, i find the VI Player MIRx Plugins interesting because if i load a Sound and mute it i can still use the MIRx position, in this Case Dimension Violins and Chamber Violins are at position of Chamber Violins.

However because this is a huge Piece with lot of Instruments wonder what are good Dry/Wet settings. What are your Recommendations for Strings, Woodwinds, Brass and Perc MIRx Dry/Wet Settings ?

I now upgraded Dimension Strings because of the great Holiday Sale and they are still mind blowing. I wished to complete the Humperdinck Opera, but its challenging to make clean MIRx Mix, lots of Woodwinds and Brass playing in the critical Mid Area, maybe I wait to get MIR Pro.

Hi I have Harp I and want to make ongoing Glissando, now i see the Harp II contain a pedal glissando, so is the Harp II then more flexible when it comes to make Glissando ? or is the Glissando Pedal also included in Harp I and because of the 100s of recorded phrases i dont see it ?

Now the Sound will more clean in next Updates, I made a classic Orchestral Hit and use this as a Reference Point. If all of Instruments play a short Note with maximum expression and participate in a natural Orchestral Hit with Timpani  just below zero, then it should sound very clean (when all of the instruments Levels are setup correctly)  and nice when the Velocity X Fade and Expression is going down. The Sound will also be louder. Quiet Parts at - 20 dB, basic Play at -12dB and crescendo up to - 1dB

Thanks jasensmith, with the new version on filmmusic i changed the strategy. I make every Sound with full Expression and Velocity Crossfade and then I decide about Volume Levels and make EQ Changes, after that I turn down the Expression and Velocity Crossfade and have then a Situation where the instruments cant get too big in their Range.

The Punchiness yes Im aware of it, it has to do because of the low Cello playing a melody, but this melody is important for the whole Sound. I work on it

Thanks Beat for your Comment,

I mix in Mono and there I also decide how much Reverb a Sound gets. If every Sound is stacked on each other, you can analyze precisely which Frequencies are clashing or which Instrument is too prominent in Realtion to another Instrument. With a Amount of 35% it would be too dry. I use different Settings for different Instruments. In this Case the Flute was clashing with some of the Strings Notes and the Strings are closer than the Flute. 

The idea that Staccato Notes are louder is good and has to do with the Playing Technique. thats a Good One

Thank You Jos, Yes thats the Idea. A VSL User is in the Situation have one of the best Library, but it also needs alot of Attention and Mixing Skills. To me Its not easy to mix 2 or 3 Flutes and Piccolo, I see this here on the Polkas but also on other Mockups.

I use only MIRx Konzerthaus  (and Im happy for this One Slider Solution). Its sound better than what I tried with Vienna Suite Hybrid Reverb, but ofcourse this has Potential too

I now often mix in Mono. The Idea is when all Instruments stacked on each other I hear which Instrument is too loud in Relation to another Instrument.

I often use the Highest Instrument a Flute and Bass , this is my Reference Point to mix the other Instruments in. But this Reference Point also change when different instruments play the Lead Melody.

a good Mockup you have here, clean in Sound w2ith alot of Potential, i still miss the Edge in the Cellos. This often can be heard on basic sustain Notes. It sounds very deep. I dont have the correct Words, but I think you know what I mean.

Thank You Paul, One big Challenge I see is to get a full Stringsound. I basicly use Dimension Strings on Top in every Piece. Somehow I miss the Edge in Cello and low Register of Viola.

So this is a Question I have almost for a Year now. maybe a good layering with Brass or Woodwinds to get the Edge in the mid low Register or Compression ?

Thank You Paul, I general use a Low Cut on Master Channel. Yes Im aware of the Noises. Its caused by non correct Volume Levels, Articulations especially in the Brass and the Snare is not correct programed.

I now have many Mockups to work on. Beethoven 6th Symphony, the Polkas, Humperdinck Hänsel und Gretel Overture, some Mozart Mockups and for the use of Bb Trumpet - Trumpet Voluntary....and ofcourse my own Pieces.....so its never boring ;)
