What is this? Sounds like samples have a terrible modulation. Any suggestions? Please only constructive replies!

Try to combine Orchestral Strings and Dimension Strings, you will get a much better result than using Orchestral and Chamber Strings. It does never work like an additional concept of instruments. Use for Room modulation MIR Pro, you do not need anything else.

If VSL is releasing the Violas, Celli and Bassi soon for Dimension Strings, you can make your sound bigger for String Orchestra.

New logic file

1 Audio Track

Use 4 - 5 Equalizer, all with active Analyzer function

On the bounce track:

2 Master EQ with active Analyzer

1 Analyzer

Press Play

open all used plugins and try to change settings all the time.

My system needs apx. 2 minutes, then my mouseclicks and Keyclicks get responsed with a delay.

Apple has improved this situation with updating to Logic 9.1.8, but it is not solved.

I think it is not a Vienna Suite problem, but when you can reproduce the lag, you can do some improvements if necessary.

Anyway, I will leave Logic at the end of this year and switch to Pro Tools. I have tested your AAX native plugins and everything works fine all the time, so I think it is better to invest in developments for Vienna Suite in AAX DSP Format. That is actually the future for many many Studios and also for my works.

Have the same problem here, I have talked about this problem with the technical support weeks ago, but they could not imagine what is the real problem than Logic itself, they made an update, but until today nothing has really changed.

Apple is releasing the 10.8.3 Beta, after I have installed it, I will report if something has changed with Logic's GUI Lag.

At the end of this year I will leave Logic because Apple has left the Pro Content in its philosophy, so I will change to Pro Tools. I have tested it natively and there is no problem at all. Apple is so .... forget it!

Years ago there was a reason to leave Cubase: LOGIC PRO. Now there is a reason to leave LOGIC: APPLE!

I have 4 slots for HDD's, 1 slot is used for the PCIe Card with the possibility to use 4 more SSD's, so that is enough for me to know. And if Angelbird is recommending me not to use it as Raid if it is used for library loading, it is ok for me. I don't care about the more speed I could have, it is fast enough for me.

But you are right, why not using in Raid-mode? Everyone has to make an own decision.

If you use Angelbird ssd's for library sample loading, then do not use it in a raid system. Angelbird works better when you use it for library loading as a normal hdd. It also recommended in this way by angelbird. I have 64 GB RAM and load everything  via SSD. I am using Angelbird's SSD-PCIe Cards with Samsung and angelbird SSD's. Everything is loading fast enough and works stable. I recommend 64 GB RAM for using in big orchestral projects. I think about extend the RAM to 128 GB. At the moment 64 GB are more than enough, but I am sure in 1 year, after the 16 GB Ram-reels are available for lower prices, then I will extend the ram to the maximum in my mac pro. I have tested two 16 GB reels to reach 80 GB and it only worked in Mountain lion, but I sent them back because the reels were too expensive.

Dimension violins itself need 8GB RAM to work efficiently. By using MIR PRO you need more than 16GB RAM. I recommend 24 GB. If you use all instruments in one MAC PRO I recommend SSD's for system and libraries and 64GB RAM. It works fine.

Yes, I tried till now. It is so curious. I uninstalled every plugin and installed separately every plugin again. WAVES - VIENNA SUITE Problem happens, FLUX - VIENNA SUITE Problem happens again and so on. Curious is after I installed all plugins except Vienna Suite - everything works fine. After installing Vienna Suite - Problem happens again. No Error report or anything like this - as I wrote - it seems like that any cache is full, but I do not understand the problem because the CPU usage is lower than 5 percent during my test and the Hard Drive usage is not displaying, so what is the problem? It depends not on buffer settings, I changed from 256 till 1024 at the maximum. The problem is the same.

Since I have updated to Lion and now to Mountain Lion I have a big problem in Logic I do not know how to solve it and what is the reason?

I am using VIENNA Suite plus Plugins from Waves Horizon, Flux, Fabfilter and so on. After working on a project for 30 minutes and opening new instance of an EQ Logic is not reacting and I can click and click and nothing happens, I have to wait apx. 20 seconds or sometimes 2 minutes, then Logic is reacting to my last order, it seems like that an internal cache of logic is overloaded.

The point is when I uninstall Vienna Suite the problems are gone away. Does anyone have an idea what is happening here? I got no failure message or anything like this.

I had this problem with my previous Mac Pro and now the same problem with my new Mac Pro. The CPU's have more than enough power and RAM is fully upgraded. I am working with SSD's, so what could be the problem?

Any idea?

My question is if it is possible to make a dialog to choose installing a 32bit or 64bit version of these plugins?

I have a problem in Logic. When I use 4 hybrid reverbs in logic, then after opening the forth hybrid reverb and try to edit something, the logic is not reacting for a time of seconds. I have deinstalled vienna suite and the problem was gone.

I am using the latest drivers of elicenser and Vienna installers. Is it possible that you offer just a 64-bit version separately for OSX.

My configuration is:

12core E5645, 64 GB RAM, SSD, Mountain Lion.

When the problem happens the CPU usage is lower than 3 % and the HDD usage is not displaying any usage, I guess because of SSD speed.

Do you have any idea what happens there in Logic Pro 9?

MIR Pro is not overpriced. Pro24 has a similar base like Pro SE, so why founding a new small version if there is a platform of Pro SE users. I worked with the demo of MIR Pro and found out that my Mac Pro 8-core is not fast enough to do all the things in a satisfying speed, so I will invest into the MIR Pro after replacing my 3,1 Mac Pro with the new one coming in April 2012. 

MIR Pro is worth the money in all functions. I am happy that the price is not higher than 800 Euro. If you earn no money with music, so just for spare time, then I agree that the price is hard to overcome, but if you earn money the price of 800 Euros is nothing against the results you can offer to the music industry. Think about it.

What is the upgrade price from pro24 to pro?

U R right, Cyril... Hope that Apple is no more delaying the new mac pro because of waiting till the Ivy-Bridge Support will be released! I expect that they will release the new one in March 2012 because the pressure from the public eye is too high, so there could be an upgrade to the Ivy Bridge later this year, but they have to release the Pro with the Sandy Bridge and two thunderbolt slots. The new one will have Ram slots with 1600 MHz, but they are not offered until now from the manufacturers..., so there could be an expensive price-range at the start... An apple employer said that it needs more than 1 year till prices of new Dimms will decrease, so in case of that it is better and more economic to use the 1333 MHz Dimms, the chipset is using 4channel support for Dimms, so the speed between 1600 MHz and 1333 MHz is not the most important thing relating to a higher price-range.

In case of using multiple instances of MIR and VE5 in Logic, I think that 64 GB RAM bundled with SSD's over Raid and 2 x 8 core processors is more than enough to get a satisfying workflow for a longer time. Actual logic supports 12 cores, but in practical use there are lots of bugs by using the 32bit-Bridge, so Apple's Logic-Team has still a lot to do! I hope that Logic Pro X in an expecting PRO-DESIGN will break those limits!

Do you think that it is possible that you are offering a slave integration via thunderbolt additionally to ethernet for the future? or as a payable upgrade for macusers?

Please make a test:  Take out all equipment sticked in your USB-Ports and just put in the E-licenser key, start your computer again and try it again. Then it should work. I think this is an overloaded USB power problem. Your key is getting not enough power to be identified by your System. Try it out and give us a short feedback about the result.

It is not a question of competition or what product sounds better... All I can say is that the VSL DVD-Libraries were recorded many years ago, but everything sounds still up-to-date. I am also using East West SO Platinum, Symphobia and also Cinesample Libraries. If I got a customs order for a quick production with low budget, I am using low budget and time-saving libraries like Cinesamples, Symphobia or EastWest, but when I score for our theatres, high budget orders or for Films, then I automatically compete with a real orchestra, so then I have to use VSL to reach the best result close to real orch-players. OK, you never replace a Real Orchestra, but in my case I am mixing VSL with real players; believe me this is the best situation for such or similar productions. Especially the possibilities of the VI Pro are amazing comparing with human players and I don't want to miss it. Yes, it needs a lot of time to configure every track and sequence exactly, but the result is still amazing. I am very sure that VSL will create a similar string product like DIMENSION BRASS, but we talk about 10 or 14 Violin players, I think that would be a hard task. I tested East West Hollywood Strings and they still have the same bad up- and down-bow as in Platinum before. OK, you can say in the final mix no one is listening to an exact played down-bow or a clean marcato, but the string quality itself is the point. Newer Disney Films will be partly produced with East-West products, yeah and so it sounds, it is a question of a budget and contracts; in my opinion and my recording experience with human players VSL is closer than every other product I am using and I have tested!

Finally again, it is a question of what you want to do. I don't like such discussions. It's a bit beside the real point.

In my opinion I can say that Vienna has the best instrument quality all over the world. I tested more than 10 companies including East West Project Sam and many more... It is a premium quality at all... Honestly I do not like the Appassionata strings because they sound a bit like phased out in some Velocity steps, but the Chambers and Orchestral Strings are amazing in playing and in sound.

The competitors EASTWEST or anything like sound always like a real sample factory, I tested their new Hollywood Strings and it still sounds like a normal sample box, not more and I have to pay for more than 1000 Euros... I thought they are joking. Play the samples completely dry and you know what I mean... Anyway.

Again, this is business, if you know that you have a very good product, then you create your own philosophy to reach people to buy their biggest boxes or DVD Libraries, so you share appetizers like SE and SE+, you guess that the people want more of this stuff and share new appetizers and release the Download instruments and discount options.

You can change to competitors or you pay the premium level that VSL is offering. This is your choice.

It is just my opinion, should not be yours...

This is business. Everyone is working like this, why should Vienna sell their products like a down-market option. Such products need creative and qualified manpower for development and processing. I support VSL's policy. It needs more input than just Soundssampling, e.g. Software development, updating processing, New development and so on...... And look at their products since 2005, big steps and unique ideas in handling Instrument player... This is what I expect from Vienna today and in the future...
