1.Best PC Setups for large Libraries 6/24/2021 11:44:39 PM

I looked but couldn't initially find this.

I'm starting to exceed the capabilities of my Primary PC which hosts Cubase11 and one of my VE 7 Pro Servers.

I'm looking into getting something beefy in order to have more bandwidth for large orchestral library configurations in VE 7 Pro Ensemble.

Sweetwater has some products they offer that are tailored for this, but I believe part of the benefit in those is the rack configurations that are portable or can easily be rack mounted in a studio.

What kick-a** systems are other users using on the PC Side, and/or what are your wish-list configurations you're contemplating for when you have the cash?

2.Synchron Bosendorfer Imperial Hollow or Out of Phase - SOLVED 6/12/2021 9:53:41 PM

Ok, I'm closing this thread. I'm an idiot. I had a zone set up on my master keyboard to send multiple cc changes with slider controls and didn't realize I was also sending NOTE data 4 times to the same channel. No wonder it sounded like crap. Once I fixed this, VOILA, problem gone.

------------------------------------------

I use VSL 7 as a host for a number of libraries, connected to Cubase 11.

The piano tends to sound out of phase or hollow, particularly in the octave below middle c and an octave above.

There is no "piano body tone fullness" in that range.

I've heard the wonderful recordings, I'm not certain what I could do differently to remove this.

I've read a bit about phase issues with VST pianos and some recommend using a piano that was recorded mono.

Any suggestions? It's not the sound I fell in love with and want to use at this point and I've gotta think it's solvable.

3.Cannot Preview Samples within Vienna Studio while Cubase is Host 9/21/2020 7:53:09 PM

BTW, I looked and realized the "Release Audio Driver option was toggled Yes in 10.5 but off in 10.0.6

Once I toggled it to off in 10.5 the functionality works.

4.Cannot Preview Samples within Vienna Studio while Cubase is Host 9/21/2020 7:43:00 PM

Actually, I figured out the functionality still works if I run Cubase 10.0.6, but not with the May release 10.5

I have submitted a ticket with Steinberg and am using 10.0.6 from Feb 2020 as a workaround because I need this feature. I appreciate the fellow user suggestions and I hope if anyone is experiencing this it helps them for now.

5.Cannot Preview Samples within Vienna Studio while Cubase is Host 9/19/2020 10:46:03 PM

I could swear that I used to be able to play my midi keyboard that is connected to my DAW (Cubase 10.5) while I'm in Vienna Studios with the instance my track is on in Cubase.

Am I crazy? Doesn't this functionality exist? If it does I have somehow managed to disable that connection.

Everything plays perfectly once I go back to Cubase and either enter note from Synth kb or play the recorded track.

I have looked all around and cannot find any configuration information that would seem to "re-enable" this assuming I am remembering this correctly.

6.Vienna Ensemble Pro 6 Version 6.0.17226 Hangs on Remote Instance 4/29/2019 4:59:03 PM

If I run VEP 6 November 2018 version on my local DAW and also run Cubase 10.0.15 from January (latest) everything seems to go fine.

However, I have another PC that also runs VEP 6 with a lot of EW Play Instances of their libraries.

Same thing, along with some other VST manufacturer products running on the local PC.

I have setup the Firewall rules that are recommended in the manual.

No matter what I try, after about 12-18 hours of being on the remote instance will become unresponsive, which makes the local instances both unresponsive also.

I have tried so many things to figure this out. I'm Stumped. I just bought (but haven't received and installed yet) a new Managed switch as part of my quest for a solution. Right now the local pc and the remote are both getting connection from a local low budget switch and I'm thinking it's possible something with that switch is causing loss of connectivity at random times, but I don't have any real data to support that guess.

Any ideas?

Primary PC: Intel Core i7 4790 32gb ram, 500gb ssd

Remote PC: Intel Core i7 3930 48gb ram, 500gb ssd
