1.Synchron instruments cut out.. red lights on all instruments 2/9/2020 10:08:38 AM

+1

The only thing that "solves" the problem for me is quiting the DAW and reloading the project, just once though, after that everything seems to be working fine.

Would be interested in this as well.

3.Syn SE: weird articulation behaviour 9/7/2019 5:27:53 PM

Hey weirdo,

thanks for the reply.

This is exactly how I do it: changing the art just before the actual note.

I think this is just a bug that hopefully will be fixed shortly. Because it happens on some instruments and not on others, e.g. on solo cello 1 but not on solo cello 2...

4.Syn SE: weird articulation behaviour 9/6/2019 1:49:08 PM

Hey everyone,

while working on a current project I've noticed some weird behaviour with the articulation switching in Synchron Player. Not sure if all or most instruments are affected, I'm working with the solo strings for now.

Example: need a portamento from E to C. Before (in VI Pro), I could choose any art for E (leg, sus, etc.) and then choose portamento art for C - and it would do the job, I would get that slide from E to C. Now, however, when I do it this way on, say, Solo cello 1, I don't get the portamento any more, even though the Syn Player switches to the portamento art. The workaround that I found is to choose the portamento art for both E and C, then you get the slide. So, basicly, you need to assign the art that you want to the note that precedes the one you want it on. This is not just the portamento, I noticed the same behaviour on legato arts.

Interestingly though, this is not the case with the Solo cello 2, i.e. here I can just choose the art for each note just like before on the VI Pro. However, the second cello has another quirk (that I maybe never noticed before?): for the legato art to work the notes need to to overlap, otherwise you don't get that little transition sample. And here, coming back to solo cello 1, the overlap is not necessary, just make sure there is no gap between the notes and you get your legato.

Now, the obvious question is: is this a bug or a feature?

I could get on board with the overlaps for legatos (makes sense), but the example with the art switching on cello 1 really bugs me (no pun intended)...

Has anyone else noticed this?

Hey Paul,

do you have any info in this? Would appreciate it.

8.SYNCHRON IR's are MIA in Cubase 9.5 & 10.0.30 7/5/2019 9:55:39 PM

Hey Paul,

I'm on 1.1.1621.

I thought that maybe this had something to do with memory, I only have 8Gb on this machine, all the samples are on an external SSD, though. Never run into these issues on VI Pro with MIRx.

9.SYNCHRON IR's are MIA in Cubase 9.5 & 10.0.30 7/5/2019 7:27:05 AM

I second that.

Also happens to me. Haven't tried freezing and rendering in place, but when I open existing projects, the impulses are missing. Closing and reopening them again solves the issue.

Also on Cubase 9.5, but on a Mac.

10.Syn SE - CC11 affects convolution reverb? 6/27/2019 9:40:07 AM

Hi everyone,

I've noticed an odd behaviour when using CC11 (Expression) to fine-tune the volume: it seems to affect the volume of the convo reverb as well, not just the volume of the actual sample. When pushing Expresion down to fade out the note and then bringing it up again for the next note, there is a noticeable reverb tail reappearing...

Initially, I thought this was the release sample, but I set those to 0 in the player and the result is still the same. This does not affect the algorithmic reverb.

Anyone expereince the same issue?

I also checked with the VI Pro verison and the problem does not exist there.

11.Synchron Player and MIRx? 6/18/2019 6:50:56 PM

Synchron Player does not support MIRx.

12.Synchronized Special Edition Vol 1: very slow loading 6/8/2019 9:29:19 AM

Hey Paul,

you wanna talk to ctornieri, he is the one experiencing those problems. It's all good on my end. :)

And just as an FYI: I'm using an old iMac from 2013 with an external SSD without any hiccups.

13.Synchronized Special Edition Vol 1: very slow loading 6/8/2019 9:19:22 AM

I haven't experienced this problem. If anything, it loads even faster in the Synchron Player.

Have you installed it on an SSD?

Alternatively, you can disable the slots on load, so that the player doesn't load all the samples at once, but only on MIDI activity.

Well, it kinda makes sense this way. The Vienna Synchron Pianos is a host software for the piano libraries, just like the Vienna Synchron Player is a host for all the instrument libraries.

Thank you! Very happy to hear that!

16.HOT NEWS: SYNCHRON-ized Special Editions 6/7/2019 8:06:56 AM

Hey Paul,

I'm loving the Synchronized SEs so far, everything sounds fantastic, and the Synchron Player is sweet! One thing I noticed: I use MIRx in the VI version, and there I can select multiple positions for e.g. Triple Horn within the section (Triple Horn 1, 2, 3, and 4). In the 'synced' version there is only one IR for Triple Horn...

Are there any plans to add more positions for such instruments like Horns, Trumpets, Trombones, etc. within their dedicated sections in the near future? Or maybe just additional presets?

I guess I could do it myself with power pan and EQ, but I just don't know enough about this stuff to get the right results...

Thanks!

You need the Vienna Synchron Pianos (download it from your Download section in MyVSL for free), it's like Vienna Synchron Player but specifically for pianos, I guess. Just tested it, works fine. ;)

19.HOT NEWS: SYNCHRON-ized Special Editions 6/5/2019 12:32:06 PM

Hi Paul,

the synchronised SE looks very, VERY tempting. I have a couple of questions, though.

Am I going to run into some phasing issues when playing the same note on the 1st and 2nd violins at the same time? Would a workaround from the VI SE work (pitching the 2nd violins by a whole tone and then repitching in the daw)?

Is it possible to swap the positions of the solo viola with the solo cello (a là string quartet), via presets perhaps?

Thank you.

20.New Release - electronic / orchestral 4/11/2019 5:43:25 PM

Hi everyone,

I just released a new EP, you can have a listen here: Horizon

All the orchestral instruments are VSL, except for the pianos. Hope you enjoy!

Stan K

21.Help me ! I can not install STEINWAY D 1/11/2019 10:24:07 AM

What exactly can't you install?

You say the Synchron Player and the eLicenser software are installed. It seems to me that now you just have to install the Steinway D library.

I don't have this product myself, but that's how it works with other software and libraries from VSL.

Does this message that you attached pop up as a reminder or when you are trying to do something? Have you downloaded the library installer file from MyDOWNLOADS in MyVSL?

22.Using Synchron Player with VST expression maps ? 9/5/2018 10:19:20 PM

I think you can do it by just adding another event in your Output Mapping. Go to Expression Map Setup, choose your Marcato Sound Slot, press + in the Output Mapping (top right), choose Note-On and add another note like C#1 or G6. Have not tested it myself, hope that works.

23.VI Pro Preload Size problem? 8/3/2018 7:15:07 PM

The preload setting definitely affects the length of the gap between the legato and leg-sus samples. Maybe there is something wrong with the patch.

Granted, I don't have the newest machine (iMac 2013, 10.12, 2.7Ghz i5, 8Gb), but other SE instruments don't have this problem, only the saxes for some reason.

I guess I will just have to do without this one patch.

24.VI Pro Preload Size problem? 8/2/2018 8:19:25 PM

But why is the delay so audible, i.e. why does the leg-sus sample kick in so late? Is there a way to fix this?

I remember having this issue with some other instruments right after I moved my library to an SSD and set the preload size too low. However, now, even on the lowest setting, other instruments seem to be fine. The only problem is the pLeS patch on saxes.

25.VI Pro Preload Size problem? 8/2/2018 7:46:00 AM

Hi Paul,

thank you for the swift reply. I have attached both an mp3 with pLeS and pLeg for comparison as well as a Cubase project file.
