1.[SOLVED] Synchron Player Reverb Module Bypass 12/15/2022 7:30:21 AM

Hello Andi,

thank you for the quick response!

Best regards
Stefan

2.[SOLVED] Synchron Player Reverb Module Bypass 12/12/2022 10:49:17 AM

Hi,

Is it possible to bypass the Convolution Impulse Reverb Module (Synchronized Instruments) via Controller?
Reverb ON/OFF seems to apply only to the algorithmic Reverb.

Best regards
Stefan Telser

3.Factory Preset VelXF sus 9/19/2022 3:31:35 PM

Hi Andy!

Thank you very much for the information.

Best regards

4.Factory Preset VelXF sus 9/18/2022 6:49:53 AM

Hi all,

If I undestand it correctly then all (Synchron Player) Factory Presets "VelXF sus" automatically play long notes with Velocity FX enabled wheras Short Notes are played with Velocity FX disabled.

I tried to replicate this behaviour in one of my own presets, but couldn't figure out how to do that.

In the factory Preset Velocity FX seems to be enabled for all patches.

Does anyone know the secret?

Thanks for any help
Stefan

Hi Jos,

Thank you very much for your encouraging words!

6.Camelot 8/9/2021 6:06:37 PM

Hi all,

With this piece I tried to explored the beautyfull C trumpet with its "marcato" samples.

All instruments are classical VI.

MIDI Programming was done entirely in Sibelius, mixing took place in Cubase.

As reverb I used Vienna MIR Teldex Stage with the following settings.

50% Dry/Wet (with some slight increase to insturments in the back)
Dry/Wet Offset is - 10
Distance dependance scaling is off.

At the end I inserted the MIRacle Teldex Enhancement with a Wet Mix of -15db.

I also added the Cubase Magneto II Effect at the very end, because I like the sound to be a bit dirty, and not too polished (I honestly dont't know if the effect can be noticed)

Camelot

Best regards
Stefan

7.Siegfried 8/4/2021 2:15:45 PM

Thanks Jos,

I used as MIR Setup:

Teldex Studio
Main Microphone ControlRoom
Distance Depending Scaling
Wet 50%
Dry Wet Offset 10%

MIRacle Setting:

Teldex Lenght Enhance with a Wet Setting of -21,4 dB

Best regards
Stefan

Auf Wagners Spuren.

This has been done with VSL, Vienna MIR and with samplemodellings Tuba (I think...)
Not quite sure. But it was fun.

9.l'Orient Express 7/5/2021 11:25:29 AM

Hi all,

Here is a little piece of mine, where I explored the VI Prepared Piano and the percussive possibilities of the Upright Bass.

Some Piano Percussive Effects were created with the UVI IRCAM Prepared Piano, the rest is VSL-VI

- English Horn
- Prepared Piano
- Bösendörfer
- Solo Cello
- Upright Bass/Solo Bass

Have fun

10.Prepared Piano 6/18/2021 11:50:28 AM

I'm sure that was a lot of fun!

I'm just beginning to study the prepared piano and it's posibilities.

Anyway you did great work on that instrument!
Maybe some time there will be more samples. :)

Best regards
Stefan

11.Prepared Piano 6/18/2021 10:15:55 AM

Hi Michael,

thanks for the quick reply.

I think the integration with the unprepared Bösendörfer schould work just fine, regardless of whether the pedals are activated or not (I think they are).

Great samples anyway! Especially the glissandi!

Best regards
Stefan

12.Prepared Piano 6/17/2021 3:13:13 PM

Hi,

I was wondering about the Prepard Piano.

Were the samples (Double Screws, Chain) recorded with the sustain pedal pressed?
It certainly sounds like the whole Piano is resonating when one key is pressed.
I try to mix the prepared piano with the Bösendörfer (using those keys that have not been prepared).

Maybe this question doesn't make much sense, it just occured to me while exploring the Library
and honestly I don't have much experience with prepared pianos.

Best Regards
Stefan

13.Home & Love 11/4/2020 11:21:55 AM

this is really a wonderfull composition and arrangment!

Both singers are great. If I had to choose I would probably pick Kira.

14.Crazy Dream Land 11/3/2020 4:09:55 PM

Hi all,

I'm keeping exploring mixing VSL with different libraries or live players.

This time I used Session Guitarist Electric Sunburst and Scarbee PreBass from Native Instruments.

Here is the result:

CreayDreamLand

I used Izotope Neutron for mixing and mastering.

Studio Weiler was uses as MIR room.

15.MIDI control for Bypass Reverb? 9/29/2020 6:34:45 AM

Ctrl Map has a setting Reverb On/Off. You can assign a MIDI controller there.

16.French Horn Sonata with live French Horn Player 8/14/2020 7:18:43 AM

Hi tchampe,

thanks for listening.

I hired the horn player via fiverr, and he did an amazing job.
But it is hard to comunicate such a syncopated piece via internet.

I put the sheet music as a download link here:

17.French Horn Sonata with live French Horn Player 8/13/2020 10:39:33 AM

Hi all,

I am continuing my exploration of combining real players with VSL.

French Horn Sonata #1

The Piano is the Bösendörfer distant MIC with soft key noises.

As reverb I used MIR Mozartsaal, two microphones (Conductor and Balcony) and "Delicate shimmer" in Miracle mixed in at -25db.

One reason why I prefer to use live Players for Solo Parts is, that I just don't have the skill to produce a convincing Solo Part with VSL, although many arrangment in the forum prove that this is perfectly possible with VSL.

The other reason is I'm just too busy to do it myself. And a bit too lazy as well

Best regards
Stefan

18.First time string quintet 8/12/2020 6:39:57 PM

Hi,

I find the piano perfectly ok. I never worked with the Imperial before, only with the Bösendörfer which perfectly suits my needs.

I generally shy away from the close mic plus the key noises enabled. I think this is might be a problem at the beginning of your song. I find the piano and the keynoises too prominent.

Otherwise everthing's just fine, I would just make the voice just more prominent. I find the lyrics hard to understand although I'm a native speaker.

Alas, I have to say that I'm not a very good sound engeneer, so my advice is solely on personaly taste.

Best regards
Stefan

19.Oblivion - Astor Piazzolla - Clarinet version 8/12/2020 9:59:33 AM

Very nice melody and arrangment. The dynamics are very convincing.

The clarinet I would give a bit less reverb as it is supposed to play in the foreground.
Would make it shine even more.

The phrasing of the melody is very excellent.

Best regards

Stefan

20.First time string quintet 8/12/2020 9:52:39 AM

Very enjoyable to listen to.

I would put the piano more into the background though and brighten up the vocals a bit.

Regards
Stefan

21.Marco Polo - VSL and Live Brass 8/10/2020 12:34:55 PM

Hi all,

I am continuing my exploration of combining VSL with Live Players and here is what I came up with:

Marco Polo on Soundcloud

All instruments are classic VI instruments in their full edition.
Brass instruments (except Tuba) are performed by a real player using multitrack.

The venue is the Teldex Stage with Miracle enhancment (2.1s Synchron Stage Vienna Enhance).
Wet signal of Miracle is set to - 10db.

MIR Reverb is set to 1.1 sec and reverb offset set to -15% (all instruments beeing at 50% and a bit more in the Background). Thats pretty much what the Enhancement description recommends.

Any comments are very much appreciated.

Best regards
Stefan

22.Synchron Woodwinds Vibrato 7/27/2020 12:50:15 PM

I don't know if this is helpful:

Sometimes I adjust the vibrato in Melodyne instead of adjusting controllers in VI or fiddling with different vibrato patches.

Regards
Stefan

23.Comparative loudness of Flute and Oboe 7/27/2020 12:47:31 PM

Hi Thorny,

thanks for your answer.

I wonder if these differences in volume reflect the actual distance of the corresponding instruments to the MainMic.

Regards
Stefan

24.Comparative loudness of Flute and Oboe 7/27/2020 9:54:51 AM

Hi

It seems to me that the Flute plays at a significant lower volume than the Oboe in the Synchronized Woodwinds.
I know that the perception of loudness is subjective but I don't have the same impression when comparing both instruments in the VI Player (Flute I and Oboe II)

As I'm new to the synchron player I would not rule out that some of my settings are responsible for the effect.

Just wanted to make sure.

Regards
Stefan

25.NoteOff triggering Release Sample Playing in Legato Patch 7/24/2020 10:36:22 AM

Hi,

I have the following problem with this line in Sibelius (maybe after updating to the newest VI Insturments):

Example

The patch is HO1_perflegato_novib. (Horn Vienna)

The noteOff triggers a release sample although the has note stopped playing.

I know this behaviour from previous versions with the perf_rep samples, but never encountered it with any legato samples before.

Deactivating the release Samples helps of course.

Interestingly the triggering of the release sample does not happen with the HO2_perf-legato.

Regards Stefan
