1.My Vienna Full String Library Purchase 1/27/2018 11:41:27 AM

Well, I finally made a purchase! I decided to go with the full Appassionata Strings library. Although Synchron Strings sounds good, is newer, and offers different mic positions, I was somewhat disappointed that there was no portamento as I read in a post on here. Will portamento be coming in the future?

Also, I really do like the sound of the Appassionata Strings better than any other strings I've heard. I spent a while listening to demos of several different libraries including VSL Synchron Strings, Spitfire Symphonic Strings, Cinematic Studio Strings, Berlin Strings, and so on... The Appassionata Strings are very lush, warm, and they just sound awesome. I'm not saying that the other libraries sound bad, but the Appassionata Strings sound best to my ears.

As mentioned earlier, I already had the special edition version, but after spending some time with the full version I'm even more impressed. I really love the strong vibrato patches and the dynamic patches. Although I wish there was a pre-made patch for a full strong vibrato ensemble, I was still able to make one just layering the sections. It really sounds great!

So now comes to my next decision... I'm thinking of getting Voices Complete. After testing things out with the audition player and listening to the demos, I have to say those soloists are the best I've heard when it comes to virtual instruments, and the choir is nice and hauntingly warm as compared to other choirs that sound epic but less warm.

Also, I would like to see Vienna sample more soloists in different singing styles such as 8DIO's Jennifer! With the recording quality of VSL this would be so great! Anyways, happy buyer here! Thanks for the great products.

Regards,
Richard

2.How do you get Vienna Audition Credit Player to Work in DAW? 1/27/2018 11:18:43 AM

At the bottom right where it shows the latency, click on it and you can change the latency settings. I set mine to 150 which worked a lot better. Unfortuneatly, I coldn't get the DAW to work properly with the audition player though.

3.How do you get Vienna Audition Credit Player to Work in DAW? 1/23/2018 12:58:03 PM

Thanks for the help and info MMKA. I tried the Loopmidi, but all I get is an awful loud sound as if the instruments are being pushed beyond clipping point. I'm using Sonar 8.5, and I'm wasting audiiton credit time trying to get this to work. :( I don't have a midi keyboard, and I really want to hear how chords sound for both the Vienna Choir and the Apassionata Strings on PFP 4. Sadly, this eliminates the mouse since I can only click on one note at a time.

Regards,
Richard

4.How do you get Vienna Audition Credit Player to Work in DAW? 1/22/2018 10:15:41 AM

How do you get the vienna audition player to work in your daw? It says in the description: "Use your mouse, a MIDI keyboard, or your sequencer/notation program." However, there is no VST.

5.Appassionata Strings Vibrato Demo Request 1/10/2018 10:54:22 PM

@TFIS:
Thank you very much for creating the demo.

@Steve:
Thank you for sharing your composition. It sounds really nice.

@Fabio:
Thanks Fabio for the information. I didn't even no that audition service was even available. I think I will indeed pay the small fee to test out some of the intruments. I'm also stuck on whether I should get the full solo strings library or voices complete. Out of all the choir libraries including the new EW choir via composer cloud I have, I still like the individual Vienna soprano choir I purchased back in 2008.

Thanks again guys. I will defintely be upgrading to the full library of the appassionata strings from the special editions before this promo is over.

Regards,
Richard

6.Appassionata Strings Vibrato Demo Request 1/10/2018 9:03:21 AM

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could make a quick (even 30 seconds) demo of how the different vibratos compare to each other in the full appassionata strings library. As mentioned earlier, I have only the special edition of the appassionata strings. I would love to hear what the sustained progressive and strong vibrato patches sound like as compared to the basics.

Regards,
Richard

Hi William,

I just listened to the composition, and it sounds great. I really like the sound of these strings. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Richard,

nice to meet you again! Yes I confirm it: yesterday i did quite a bit of experiments with Dimension and Chamber strings and MIR Pro. I wasn't able of replicating the nice sonic balance of Synchron strings default stereo mix, that always sounds better than any of my attempt to mix in MIR Pro old lybraries then finally I consider it a real added value (it was my main doubt buying the lybrary).

ciao, Fabio.

I would say the standard library is enough, unless you need to work in Surround and 3D sound formats. The mics available in the standard library are more than sufficient for a standard stereo production and sound great.

Hi William,

That is exactly why I do love the Appassionata strings, the big lush shound. I'm just wondering if it is possible if you could create a short dmeonstration of the dynmaic patches in the Appassionata Strings so that I can hear what they sound like. They never did show those in the videos. I have an idea what they may sound like because I have a few libraries that have them, but it would still be nice hear what they sound like.

Richard

Hi William,

Absolutely beautifu! I loved your No Greater Love piece. The strings indeed do sound top notch quality and expressive... Now, I have to decide what I'm gonna get... Upgrade to full Apassionata Strings library or get the Synchron Strings. Now, I really have to think!

Regards,
Richard

No portamento? :( WIll they possibly add it in via an update?

14.Testing out Synchron Violins 1 (Legato) 12/31/2017 12:51:50 AM

Are there any full string ensembles in Synchron Strings?

15.Appassionata Strings Special Edition vs Full Library 12/29/2017 10:24:08 PM

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm really interested in hearing how the dynamic patches sound in the full library.

After doing a little more research and listening to the 8dio century strings, I don't think they sound as full big as the Appassionata strings. I believe they were made up with smaller sections of strings. The one thing that I really like about them though is their dynamic patches, but I think the Appassionata strings will do just as good with their dynamic patches, but I wish I could hear some samples that focus on the dyanmic patches.

Anyways, I think I'm indeed leaning more on the upgrading to both of the full Appassionata 1 and 2 string libraries. I use them in everything I compose now, and I love the sound of them.

16.Appassionata Strings Special Edition vs Full Library 12/27/2017 10:05:50 AM

Out of all the string libraries I own including 8dio Adagio series, EW Hollywood Strings via composer cloud, Kirk Hunter (all concert series), Garritan, EWQLSO Silver, and Sonivox the Vienna Appassionata strings special edition are the  backbone and main string library I use in like 95% of my compositons. There is something about this string library that really inspires me, I really love the sound and recording to these strings.

However, I am now coming to a very big decision making choice in the next couple of months. 8dio has released their new Century Strings which has some pretty good patches for dynamics and the such. I am stuck between either upgrading to the Appassionata Strings full ibrary and the 8dio Century Strings.

For those who own the full Appassionata String library, how does it compare to the special edition version? Is it a day and night difference? One thing I love about some of the full vienna instruments I have is the dynamic patches like the pfp_vib_4s patch in the solo violin 2 library. Is it worth upgrading from the special edition of the Appassionata Strings to the full library?

17.Solo Violin 2 Lower Dynamic Demo, How many Dynamic Layers? 10/27/2017 9:42:40 PM

Thanks Oceanview for the the information on open strings. I was wondering what it did. I tried the AB switch and I couldn't tell the difference until the information you gave me. I was wondering why some keys didn't have vibrato in the vibrtato patch.

18.Solo Violin 2 Lower Dynamic Demo, How many Dynamic Layers? 10/27/2017 1:56:39 AM

Thank you Beat and esperlad for the information. I did end up buying it last night, and I am very impressed with the violin. It's exactly the type of sound I was looking for. Having the 4 layers on the sustains and legatos is really nice. I also like the different patches in the dynamics section. What are open strings? Sorry, I am not too familar with instruments despite using them in sample libraries.

Regards,
Richard

19.Solo Violin 2 Lower Dynamic Demo, How many Dynamic Layers? 10/26/2017 2:41:20 AM

Hi Beat,

I'm looking to hear a full demo of how the Solo Violin 2 sounds when you change the velocity layer to low. In other Vienna instruments such as the Alto Flute and the Flugelhorn it makes the sound more softer/warmer. I was interested in how the violin sounds in the softer tone when the velocity is set to low. Also, do you know how many dynamic (velocity) layers Solo Violin 2 has?

Regards,
Richard

20.Solo Violin 2 Lower Dynamic Demo, How many Dynamic Layers? 10/25/2017 11:55:20 PM

I'm interested in getting Solo Violin 2, but does anyone have a demo of what it sounds like in the lower dynamics when the velocity is set to low?

EDIT:
Also, how many dynamic (velocity) layers are there?

21.VSL Composer Cloud 9/7/2016 10:14:21 PM

+1, I would love to see a VSL composer cloud. I have used EW composer cloud and it works pretty good. However, I have had constant issues with their *Play* engine, so I cancelled. I have no issues with Vienna Esnemble or the Player, and I also love the the sound and dryness of the instruments. Vienna is my number one library for composing music.  I think having a VSL composer cloud will open up doors for Vienna by bringing in more customers because it will be much more affordable for customer to pay by the month than to fully buy out each instrument. Eastwest seems to have been very succesful at this including bringing in new customers.

22.Solo Voices 12/28/2014 12:24:11 AM

Right on man, they sound great! Thanks for putting together these demos. Now, I just HOPE AND PRAY, that someday in the future Vienna will release these as separate voices. :) I will only ever need the Soprano and the Alto.

23.Solo Voices 12/26/2014 12:17:49 AM

Right on! Hey LAJ, do you think you could do a quick demo with only the soprano and alto with no intruments. I am very interested in hearing the raw voices!

Regards,

Richard

24.A Question Regarding Solo Voices! 12/26/2014 12:13:22 AM

Thanks for the quick reply. Dang, I was hoping you guys would do something like that. Perhaps sometime in the future? One downfall with all the soloist libraries I own is that they use Kontakt, and I dislike that sampler, it's so buggy and always crashes on me. Out of all the years I have been using the Vienna Player I have not had one single crash. I spent like 170 on a piano library for Kontakt, and I am just thinking of buying your piano library to replace it just because I am sick and tired of the stability issues with Kontakt. I really do hope in the future you guys make single instruments out of the voices.

Regards,

Richard

25.A Question Regarding Solo Voices! 12/25/2014 8:41:17 PM

You my be right, I assumed they just took the samples from the actual full choir sopranos.
