I have two question regarding my new library Vienna Percussion (Standard) and Sibelius 7.5

1.

I would like to find list of articulations for percussions to be used in Sibelius

In the manual "VE_Optimizing_Sibelius_Playback_v2.7" it's said (regarding Percussion library):

 

"The list of all included instruments and articulations is too long to be covered here, as this is the most complex sound set of all. You will find this list in a separate manual. "

But I am not able to find this manual. Only thing I found is "VI_Percussion_Manual_v1", but it seems to not include articulations needed to be used in Sibelius.

 

2.

I am trying to make in efficent way on crescendo and diminuendo on rolls - (on instruments like bass drum, suspended cymbal).

I already know, that this instruments doesn't have option to use Velocity X-fade by dynamics.

I use now midi messages, 

I have Vel.XF on/of set to CC12. 

My questions are:

a). How to turn of Vel.XF on/of (CC12) when I once turned it on by using midi messages? What midi commend should I use?

b). Is it any way to use Sibelius dynamics instead of midi commends to achiveve creescendo/diminuendo?

I have heard about plugin included in Sibelius called "Add Continuous Control Changes" (could it be helpful?), but I can't find it in Sibelius 7.5 plugins...

 

ps. It would be so nice to have option Velocity Xfade on rolls of Suspended cymbals and Bass Drums (like it is on Timpani)...

I have a problem with setting up my Vienna Ensamble Pro with Sibelius.

I have installed all Vienna Instruments properly with Soundsets etc, but I would like to have also Choir from Kontakt inside Vienna Ensamble Pro instance, and I would like to hear it in Sibelius.

I want to have Kontakt sounds based in Vienna Mir Pro, that's why I need to have it based in VEP, and I can't add only Kontakt Player to "Playback Devices"in Sibelius.

 I can't find a way how to do it.

I placed additional VEP Event Input (4) for Kontakt library in "Playback Devices" in Sibelius. 

Sound Set is set up to : "none"

I made two "unused" places for choir (sopran and bass choir)

In Vienna Ensamble Pro Instance I added two channels for two Kontakt instances..

With Midi Ports: both 4

and  Midi Channels:  1 and 2

 

In Sibelius mixer I set up apriopriate channels and playback devices.

But Sibelius doesn't play back Kontakt sounds, but plays Flute sounds from Vienna sounds....

 

How can I make it works correct?

I am in doubt now. I woud like to connect my Macbook as a master computer and my PC as a slave by Vienna Ensamble by Vienna Ensamble Pro and Ethernet Gigabyt cable.

On my PC I would like to keep my biggest libraries (Vienna Dimension Strings and so on) and on Macbook Pro have Mir Pro.

I don;t really know which cable should I buy to have fast connection between computers. I know it should be Gigabyt Ethernet cable. Could you send me a name of cables that could work well it this set up?

Yesterday I finished my composition using Vienna Dimension Strings, Vienna Suite and Cubase 7 ( composition written before in Sibelius 7.5, and transferred to Cubase later on)

I would like to ask you what need to be made better, and what are my weak points. I want to learn something, so don't worry, criticize, but in constructive way, please :)

Hi there! If I set Dyn Range Scaler to value 127 for all my instruments in template in Cubase (which I like the most, because I can control dynamic from silence to the loudest point - what is adequate dynamic in Velocity X-fade for each dynamic (for example, for PPP what value should be for Velocity X-Fade, for PP what value, P,MP,MF,F,FF,FFF and so on.) Is there any rule?

I have troubles with articulations in Sibelius 7 and Vienna Dimension Strings. What I did:

I selected in Manual Sound Sets Vienna patches (for Dimension Strings), I selected House Style (Vienna Symphonic Library, and loaded all settings) , in Vienna Ensamble I opened in VI Pro Sibelius presets ( Sib_DimViolins_All_PRO and so on).

Now when I try to write scores, some articulations works wrong.

for example:

when I use staccato, it turns good articulation, but always VI change patches from fe. All Violin to Violin solo.
And when I use commend "normal" or "ord." it turns articulation "FP".
Commends like " A8" ,"A6" works perfectly.
But I can't turn articulations like "molto vibrato", "espressivo" , it always turns "proggressive vibrato"
And any of SUL commends doesn't work. Also Portato.
Tremolo - single, double works ok. triple tremolo is fine, but is with harmonics (even if I don't write commend "harmonics"
pizzicato works ok.


I was trying also with commend "normal" to put it after some variations of articulations (I found this suggestions on forum)

I put normal above, and different articulations below. But it doesn't help unfortunatelly..

How to control x-fade i the best way?

I would like to ask you if it's a good idea to have assigned Expression CC and Velocity X-fade to the same CC?
Then I can achieve variable timbre depending on the loudness of the sound and wide dynamics (from 0 to the maximum, which is not possible with only velocity x-fade).
Now I have both velocity x-fade and expression assigned to one CC , so they have always the same value.
Is it good way, or you can recommend other better techniques?

I am looking for good tool to learn orchestration and mixing my Vienna Libraries. This course seems to say much about preparing templates with samples and about mixing and, at the same time, about orchestration.

But how to compare Cinematic Orchestration to this course:

This course will teach me using well VSL products. It is great. I want to learn it.
But do you think that Cinematic Orchestration is enough resource to learn also to use VSL products and use it in composition?

Is there possibility to apply this configuration in Vienna Instruments Pro 2 (I have just bought it ) for Vienna Dimension Strings:

When I use Auto Vocing for fe. dimension violins, I would like to have all available violins (if there is fe. All Violins Matrix turned on there should be 8 violins) when I play mono, just one voice. Like it is when Auto Voicing is turned off.

And I would like to have divided sections when I start to play poliphonic ( fe. two notes at the same time - in accordance with subordinated slots )

Right now as I see when Auto Voicing is turned on, and when I play one note - only instruments from Slot 1 appear. It is obvious.

But,
Can I set it up somehow, that when I play one note, all violins play, and when I play poliphonic, auto vocing is working?

Hello! I have questions regarding ssd disk. I have laptop (HP ENVY dv 6 i7-3630QM 16GB/1TB /GT635 2GB WIN8) with usb 3.0. I have also Dimension Strings, Appasionata Strings, Special Library 1Plus, Vienna Suite.
I could not find any information that my laptop has Sata III unfornatelly.. So I am considering to use ssd disk with adapter usb3-sataIII. I know that I will lose 1Gbit compare to 6Gbit of sata III. Is it good choice?
I am also wondering if this disk is a good choice for me - Crucial M500 240 GB.
It is cheap and I don't have money now to buy bigger one. Is this 240 gb should be enought for my libraries (also with upcoming double basses of Dimension Strings? I thought to install all libraries on the external ssd disk, and other things, OS, software, keep on internal disk. Is it a good choice?

Is there any possibility to use SATA III via laptop?
Is this adapter is ok for usb3 -> sata III?

Hello, I am kind of "newbie" in using reverbs. I read a lot lost days about it. I have my Vienna Suite and I would like to use Convolution Reverb in my project based on VSE and on Cubase 7.

I have made FX chanell, I made sends on tracks with pre-faders (I already know how to do this).

But I am really wonder what is the best way to use reverb. Normally it is rule that for accoustic music there are made on FX channel to reverbs - with long tail and early reflection, right?

How to do this with convolution reverb?
Should I put two convolution reverbs on FX channel , long tail and early?

I am sorry for easy question, but I really need to finish my project, and learn using well reverb!

How to manage this? I have never done anything like this.. Is there any tutorial step by step how to do this?

So I should first open string instruments in "Score setup" in Notion and choose one of sets for VSL Special Edition.

Is there any possibility to adjust Vienna Appasionata I and II (Appassionata Strings Bundle , Standard) to Notion 4?

I would like to do this, but Notion doesn't have this sounds sets, only for Vienna Special Editions.

Could somebody help me? Is there any solution, or was there a similar topic before?

That is what I need to do:

I would like have in Sibelius my Vienna Appasionata and VSL's sounds, but also I need Ivory piano, and I would like to hear all the plugins at the same time.

Is there any possibility to make it?
BTW > I don't have Vienna Ensamble Pro (maybe there it is possible, but right know I would like to avoid another purchase...)

Maybe there is another solution for my problem?

I am trying to set up my new Vienna Appasionata with Cubase 7 Expression Map. I simply download VSL_Strings_Expressionmaps_v.1.1.zip file from Needful Things - VST Expression Maps, I have connected it with Cubase , I loaded maps in Expression map Setup, I loaded VSL Strings - Violins, Violas, Celli.expressionmap. I turned it on.

But the result is that diffrent keys seems to react to diffrent articulations commands. I don't know what I did wrong. Maybe should I also read maps in Vienna Player?

Can somebody helps?

I am using Cubase 7 and I have Vienna Special Edition 1 and PLUS and Vienna Suite. I loaded to Cubase properly VST Expression Maps (as it has been shown in the tutorial movie) to Cubase.

I am trying now to configure Expression Map to use it in Cubase , I can already set up different articulations , everything works fine except one thing. The names of different articolations in the Key Editor window, in the Controler line called ''Articulations'' don't appear, so I can attach new articulation, but I don't see what kind of..
And it makes me confused.

I've just purchased Special Edition Vol. 1 PLUS , and of course I have already Special Edition Vol. 1.
I've downloaded and installed everything properly, as usuall, and run my Cubase 7.

I was trying to find any new option in articulations of each instrument, but I can not see any change compare to Special Edition Vol. 1.. did I made anything wrong? Or should I turn on new plug in somehow?
