Hello,

so are there any news regarding a Synchron Stage Extension for MIRx or will there be no?

Greetings,

4.Comparison between Orchestral Strings, Dimension Strings, Synchron strings...and Appassionata String 4/9/2018 7:59:39 AM

Personally I prefer the Orchestral+Dimension Mix. Lush broad sound with a lot of depth. Dimension and Appassionata on their own sound great too. Appassionata sounds really lush and powerful. The weakest, in my opinion, is in fact Synchron.

5.Comparison between Orchestral Strings, Dimension Strings, Synchron strings...and Appassionata String 4/5/2018 1:46:16 PM

Thank you very much for adding Appassionata Strings. ;-)

6.Comparison between Orchestral Strings, Dimension Strings, Synchron strings...and Appassionata String 3/13/2018 3:28:09 PM

Wow, thank you very much for this great comparison. Too bad there is no snippet for Appasionata Strings.

Judging from those snippets, in my opinion Dimension Strings are still the holy grail and pinnacle of all the VSL string libraries, yet combining them with Orchestral Strings really adds alot to them which is astounishing.

It is also quite interesting to see how well those old Orchestral Strings aged and still boldly stand against all the newer libraries, including SyS.

8.GS3 STOOOOOPID QUESTION!!! 5/11/2007 6:13:49 AM
Hi,

really simple. Within the Quicksound-Options there's a checkbox named "show only instruments that match search". This one has to be UNchecked. It may be that you have to restart GS to let this change take effect.

Kind regards,

Seb
9.Gigastudio Instrument list problem. 12/5/2006 6:23:02 PM
Hi,
Simply UNcheck "show only filetypes that match search" within the Options.

This should do it. I ran into the same problem after updating from 3.04 to 3.12

Best wishes,
Seb
10.!!! Super Bonus for Symphonic Cube users !!!! 10/7/2006 2:01:21 PM
Woooooooow !!

Not only that I finally got a job ! (well - which nowadays is almost like winning the lottery - especially here in Germany) - and sooner or later will be able to update to SC [Wink]
the fact that VSL is heading right towards a choir library made my next 5 years !

Thanks soooooo much Herb.

11.Nobuo Uematsu (video game music) 6/3/2006 6:54:29 AM
BTW: Have a look at www.snesmusic.org - a great resource for original classic-console music. Offers complete soundtracks for download, infos about composers and many more. I've found some real gems there.

But there's something about that main theme from FF VIII that still gives me chills every time.

Hi Ben,

Which one do you mean ? The military-style march on the opening credits or the action-tune that plays during the intro-movie (where Squall and Cipher have their duell) ?
(Besides the music - in my opinion Square did some of the best designs in the whole industry - their flying ships are simply outstanding -and the environment in FF VIII, with this cross-over style of futuristic technology and pre-industrial architecture is simply stunning. Cool
And which real FF player didn't want to own Squalls "gun-blade" Big Smile

13.Nobuo Uematsu (video game music) 5/31/2006 3:23:42 PM
Hi B.C.

Want another Uematsu fan ? Here I am.

It was back in the 90's (the shining time of Nintendo Snes and Sega Genesis) when I played my first encounter of Final Fantasy (III) - I guess it's VI in the USA, right ?) - and the first thing I gave attention to was - well - the music.

Since then I played nearly all FF's (exept the ones after IX) and although it's not a secret that Uematsu often recycles his themes, he's an outstanding artist of his kind.
To my opinion: His work for FF VII is still the best.
Guess what - I still own a 3-CD Set of the FF VII music - imported from Japan Wink
Well - I remember me and my class-mate waiting and hoping to hear the Sephiroth-Battle Theme as a real orchestral recording - but all we got was the beep-beep-beep midi sound you could hear on the Playstation Sad

Anyway - it still rocks !

Greetings,

Seb
14.GS3 DEF Filter for VSL? 2/7/2006 1:23:53 PM
Hi,

I've allready created some DEFs using the iMIDI rule without any problems.
My guess: As soon as you want to build a dedicated DEF patch within the editor, it seems to require 24 bit samples, on the other hand, you are still able to create DEFs "on-the-fly" within Gigastudio itself using iMIDI.

I might be wrong, but at least it seems to work fine this way with 16 bit samples.

15.Assigning a MIDI controller to Fine Tune? 1/19/2006 3:04:17 PM
Hi,
I asked this to myself many times (although in my case, I want to control the course tune, being able to control tuning in half tones.. doing this, one would have up to 3 or even 5 different sounding variations of the same pitch - through tuning up/down by 1 or 2 half tones...), but at the end it seems not to be possible to control tuning via a midi-controller - I really tried anything - even GS3 custom rule builder (which really is a pain to work with..)

I really would give anything to be able to do those things in realtime....

maybe someone else (david govett ?) can help us...

Greetings,
Seb
16.Epic Horns: WOW 1/6/2006 3:48:17 PM
Could not agree more. - They arrived yesterday - glad I made it before the holiday prices end - and I only played arround with them. Man - they are by fact my personal favorites out of my whole VSL collection - simply amazing !

Missed the summer sale, but this time I simply couldn't resist.
BTW - got Solo Strings too - lots of new toys... [Wink]
Ok - no time - back to work

18.Editing VI- patches 11/28/2005 10:21:54 AM
Paul,
I've read this topic with much interest, and as excited as I am about those new things, I'm also a bit dissapointed.....

Don't take me wrong, but one of the main reasons why I bought VSL was the fact that it was available for GS, allowing me to edit the patches on the sample-level.

There are not much, but there were some broken samples in my First Edition which needed either to be edited (in most cases my Wavelab Declicker allready did the job), or completely altered with a pitched neighbour-note.

In case for the VI's:
What if we come across a "bad" sample ? We would be stuck with it, cause there's no way to edit those patches on the sample-level, right ?

.......well, the same dillemma as with EWQLSO.... Crying

Hi,

within the quicksound options, get sure that "show only filetypes that match search" is UNchecked.

I've run into this after updating to 3.1 - and travelling over to NS forums gave me the solution above.

Hope it helps,
Seb
