Hi—I have exactly the same problem (this happens with either Server or Standalone):

MacBook 2022 16" M1 Max 64GB RAM Mac OS Monterey 12.3.1, VE Pro 7.1.1298 iLok

1. Open VEPro Server
2. Create a new instance (my default only has a "Master Bus", otherwise blank)
3. Add a plugin (for instance, Kontakt 6 Stereo) Any external plug in, VST or AU
4. In the Channels left sidebar, click on either the channel 1 or the name "Master Bus"
5. VEPro exits unexpectedly

It happens 100% of the time. If I type F3 or select "Mixer" in the bottom tab it does in fact display the mixer section and MAY allow me to click on "Master Bus" or other channels without unexpectedly quitting, but it's not 100% reliable. This only seems to happen with external plugins. If I add inputs, busses or folders before adding plugins I can freely click in the Channels window to select. Also, if I try to add a plugin: Integrated Vienna MIR Pro Room Tone plugin then VE Pro exits unexpectedly. Can anyone else reproduce?

I'm having the same problem on Mac OS 10.8.5 only, not on my other slave computers that are running 10.9 nor my main system running 10.11.6. If I try to open either the VEP Standalone or Server I get the same message as Osamu. The exact dialog box says:

Vienna Ensemble Pro cannot be opened because of a problem.

Check with the developer to make sure Vienna Ensemble Pro works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.

Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.

I also have ProTools 10 and 11 installed on this system. If I try to launch ProTools, I get an error message that says:

ProTools could not load the following plug-ins either because no valid authorization could be found, the iLok key was not connected or the plug-in was damaged:

Vienna Ensemble Pro Audio Input.aaxplugin

Vienna Ensemble Pro.aaxplugin

I double checked that both my eLicenser and iLok installers/drivers are the most recent versions downloaded from their respective sites (although I realize the iLok isn't used here).

Any ideas how to get this most recent version to open?

Hi-I most certainly support the need to protect your intellectual property, but I have a question about implementing NIs copy protection. If the proposal is to lock the user to only two computers without purchasing additional licenses, I have to respectfully submit a comment.

I am really happy with Kontakt... I migrated within the last few years to mostly Kontakt (I'm using it on 5 of my studio computers, the other 3 still run GS). I also own the full version of a competing orchestral package that is locked with NIs copy protection, and it has been an undue burden to not be able to allocate the samples as I see fit across my computer systems, and the only solution was to purchase another complete copy of the package!

I have invested a tremendous amount in your company--I own everything Vienna has released, including quite a few crossgrade licenses, and I greatly value the ability to open your products on any of my platforms; it has afforded me the ability to have far more of your product available in my real time pallate than you would expect (I'm working on two TV series and two independent movies at the moment--there just isn't time to reload or render--it just has to be all there at once![] ). The thought of integrating the Perf Tool into the instrument to further streamline the process is really enticing, but I would be really disappointed if I have to further repurchase all of your products to maintain that flexibility. Perhaps a compromise could be worked out to address this, admittedly, isolated situation?

Anyway, I apologize for the lengthy post, I just wanted to provide a bit of groundwork so this hopefully wouldn't come across as a baseless rant.

I work occasionally with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra here in Los Angeles, and few summers ago they played a 20-minute suite from Star Trek the Motion Picture (with Jerry Goldsmith and Robert Wise (director) in attendance). The suite was made of clips from the original score, and that was played in sync with the corresponding scenes from the movie. What an incredible experience to see that!

Anyway, they had "The Beam" in the percussion section, and I had an opportunity to look at it up close. The concept is really similar to a slide guitar, where the artillery shell serves as a big slide to change the pitch across the strings. I have no idea how the orchestra arranged to have it, but I'm sure it is a very expensive rental!

Sorry I can't contribute any ideas on how to get samples of it... have a nice day!

Hi, Mattias--thank you for clarifying that! I feel one can never have too much information when trying to troubleshoot, and for a long-term mac user I always appreciate tips on working with Windows machines.

Chris (golem)--I passed on the information to my installers and they will make sure those fonts are available to the system for future builds. Thanks very much for taking the time to respond!

Hi, Denny--thanks for replying. I do have my font size set to normal... that was the first thing I checked. I am certain the problem had to do with fonts because my tech had pulled most of the fonts out of the system, and when I reinstalled all the fonts, the problem was solved!

That's why I'm trying to find out what font the tool is looking for so I can make sure I have it available to the system. Any ideas from the programming team?

Hi, everyone! I reviewed the thread about font size that was posted this past Feb. and I need more information. I was experiencing the exact same problem with the perf. tool (the bottom pane partially hidden by the second row of midi channels) on a few of my computers but not the others (font size set to normal on all machines).

I discovered my installer (BYC VisionDAW) had removed most of the fonts from my fonts folder to optimize performance, and replacing all the fonts solved the problem. Evidentally, the font the perf. tool was missing and it was substituting another which caused the problem.

Is there any way to find out (short of adding into the system one by one... I'm afraid I don't have time under my current production schedule to do that!) which font(s) the tool is looking for? That way, I could make sure that the necessary ones are active and avoid the problem. My rep at VisionDAW asked me to pass on any information so they can adjust their routine to make sure this issue can be avoided in the future. I really appreciate any help!

Hi! I searched to see if any one else had posted on this, but couldn't find any topics. In the Vl-14_tr-HS_cre patch, about 2 1/3 sec. into the sample of B5 and C6 (two 8ves above middle C) the sound stutters briefly... not sure if my file is corrupted or not... can anyone else reproduce this?
