  • Vienna suite demo licence

So I downloaded and installed the trial version, downloaded the demo licence key, and my licence manager says everything's hunky dory. Only the plugins tell me "no licence". Am I forgetting something (again)?

  •  Dear rocnathan,

do you have the latest version of LCC installed? It´s version 5.4.10.4:

    http://vsl.co.at/en/211/496/945/1456/1071.htm

Please restart your computer before installing this software.

    Kind regards,

    Maya

  •  Yes, I upgraded to the latest version (even though it installed and registered fine on the old one), and - here's the annoying part - it counts down the starts and days till expiration, but it won't let me use the plugins.

  • Hi Rocnathan

    Please check:

Make sure that the PlugIns are in the correct folder. Perhaps you should "deal out" them.

Perhaps you are using the 32Bit-Cubase with the 64Bit-Vista (no problem)

But the automatic installation copied the PlugIns into the 64 Bit VST folder... ?

    Example how it should be:

    • C:/Program/Steinberg/VstPlugIns/VSL_Compressorx64.dll (64 Bit)

    and

    • C:/Program(x86)/Steinberg/VstPlugIns/VSL_Compressor.dll (for 32 Bit)

The folder names could be a bit different because I'm not sitting in front of my music-PC just now.

    But they should be similar.

    A lot of success

    Beat

  • Well, Just for VSL people - yes, I have the latest version of LLC. Just wondering why Vienna Instrument loads fine whereas the plugins behave like - do not know, just look for a bad word yourself? Then one plugin loads and the other one does not, or it loads on the second attempt to insert it or never. And the Vienna licenses are all on the same key. I mean syncrosoft for Mac was always a joke, but that is way worse, sorry - this is a waste of time and totally unacceptable. As I said, it seems that VSL VI works quite well, so I guess there is something with the plugins ... I would say - unusable is the word that fits the behaviour of the plugs best. this is on OSX 10.4.11 with Logic and DP ... Maybe it would be not too bad to think about offering Mac users a copy protection that works - I have syncrosoft protected programs for 6 years now or so and it once got better but since one year it gets worse and worse. How about iLok for MacUsers? Thanks EDIT: Well, did some more tests - seems like the other syncrosoft plugins work fine - Vienna Suite keeps complaining and crashing. This is on PPC - maybe you want to check that again. Thanks EDIT2: Seems to work all fine in VE - so, why do they not work with DP6.01 and LP 7.2x on the same system? EDIT3: seems that in VE for Mastering EQ the characteristic settings (A/B/C) are not saved with the VE project/file best

Thanks for the well-intended help, but I checked all that - the plugins show up in the menus and everything, they just behave as if they weren't licenced when in fact my dongle says they are. But I guess from some of the other people's responses that this is indeed some syncrosft issue - sigh. I'll just trust VSL to reset all the demo licences when the issue is resolved (wink, wink) 😊

It's not like I desperatey need them, I have a zillion plugins. But I was interested in the VSL-specific settings, and of course I'm not going to dish out 400 euros for software I know nothing about.

  • I aggree. The for testing the suite is to short.

Before the demo version expired I could test it only once. So I get really no feeling regarding the money worth of the suite.

What I miss is the reverb module.

So I have to spend extra money for the reverb!

  • You can test it for 30 days. If you demostarts are used you can refill them within of 30 days as often as you need it.

    best

    Herb

  • Interesting. My demosuite stopped working after few days.

In the meantime I uninstalled it.

So I will install it again.

    Will that work?

  • If you refill your demostarts on your key before, there shouldn't be a problem.

    best

    Herb

  • If I refill the demo start on my key on the 29th day of my demo period, will I get to use those new demo starts beyond the 30th day?

    Thanks, Brian

    Hi steff

    [H]

..and keep in mind that there are not only MAC-users (... I mean iLock for PC was always a joke [:)])  I can tell my stories as well - with Altiverb and iLock but also here: It seems that the problems are solved ...

I'm sure that VSL will do "its very best".

There are so much of possibilities: AMD, Intel, Windows XP/Vista MAC, Leopard, 32Bit, 64Bit, hardware combinations ...

    I wouldn't be a software developper.

    regards

  •  Hello Johann,

this will work if the Demo License is still on your key (you didn´t remove it).

Brian, the Demo License is time-limited, it will only work for 30 days.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hello Beat, therefore I was talking about MacUsers - I know that a lot of PC users prefer syncrosoft and I think iLok on PC is not really worth it - it gets cracked to easily. Anyhow, seems that there is a problem between VS and Logic Pro 7.2x on PPC, OSX10.4.11. (sorry, but after several hours of crashing and on loading the plugin tells me that I only have 50 starts left and in the next second it tells me that no license can be found ... pretty sarcastic ...) In Digital Performer it now seems to run fun (after I logged out after Logic crashes and logged in again to start over new in DP). Also in VE it seems pretty normal. Also seems that for the Master EQ the A/B/C settings do not get saved with the project (as they cannot be automated perhaps ?) Well, sure there are - but for mac you only need a hand full of combinations. And yes, maybe I am too used to VSL doing their best and not expecting my computer to freak out for hours (well, seems only one program - but still) I do not think that Logic Pro 7 is a host that is only seldomly used on Mac. Thanks best

    Hi steff3

Thanks on behalf of VSL [:)]

Herb and his team need these negative feedbacks because VSL can't simulate the diversity and wide varity of systems  we can have.

So your crashes will help to bring the Suite up to a higher level - even if it is/was not a very pleasant situation for you.

I'm sure that you will get a better or well running Suite soon.

Thanks for the answer Paul. [:)] I think I've got this straight.  OK...so every time you demo a Vienna Suite plugin it subtracts a demo start while at the same time the Vienna Suite demo license itself is limited to 30 days.  This means that every time you run out of demo starts you have to refill them to demo the Vienna Suite even if you still have time remaining on the Vienna Suite demo license. So if the demo license only lasts for 30 days then why do you need to subtract demo starts at all? Wouldn't it be a lot easier if the demo license just worked unlimited for only 30 days? [:^)] This way you wouldn't have people confused about why the demo stopped working before the end of the 30 day trial period.  Maybe this is a Syncrosoft thing, but it seems complicated to me.

because otherwise a demo license could be used for an unlimited period - as you might have noctied with other types of demo licenses ...

  • Thanks for answering Christian!  I'm still confused, but I'll live. [:P]

  • Just downloaded the demo, and amazingly enough ALL 30 starts were taken up during the authorization process in Logic 8.0.2! I then refreshed the license and opened a single instance of the analyzer plugin, I'm down to 28 starts! Opened the EQ, down to 26. I dont understand it, but it seems each plugin takes 2 starts away!

Thank God that VSL decided to do a 30-day trial and they allow you to refresh the number of starts! Looks like I'll be refreshing my starts many times in the next 30 days, that is unless I buy it before then! [:D]

  •  well i can't say what exactly is going on onder the hood of logic during the validation process, but theory says that *touching* a plugin (eg. for validation or for loading) is using up one start. inserting the same plugin into a second track should use no additional start now.
