Defenitely a few more than this.

We know the sample amount pretty accurate, but not to 100%.

Some participants of our Choir quiz seems to be very close, therefor we can't announce an amount which is not 100% accurate.

By the way the quiz is still running for all who haven't attended so far.

Congratulations on another product which I am sure will be as impressive as anything else this company has proffered.

It has been discussed before and I know that the company has made its decisions at least thus far, but I still would like to stress the wish of many of us here, for a literate choir. As beautifully as I am sure your choir will sing, I would very much welcome some innovative VSL player which would allow your singers to articulate words (including soloists). Only then would I be compelled to purchase it, not before. As I have said on another occasion, a couple of vowel sounds are great for a magical Jay Bacal rendition of -what are only a few- classics like Daphnis and Chloe, Prometheus, etc. Otherwise, you are encouraging their over-and-over-and-over-and all over again incongruous and lamentable use in kitschy soundtracks (allowing for the odd exception). For the sake of good music, and not pretending to know the logistics of such an undertaking, since east-wurst-tomatos (as you say) have managed it, as a fiscally naive composer I am voicing my heartfelt wish for your company to improve on that concept someday.

Kind regards.

If you can't notate/MIDI it yourself, it's NOT your music!

In the catalog from NAMM, it looked like the choir was being split by section. I would recommend that splitting by vowel would make more sense. Let people purchase a good legato "ahh" library, then they could upgrade for more vowels.

Absolutely right. But as far as I know there should not be any information about  a section split in the catalog. Fact is, that  standard versus extended collection wil be divided in different vowel articulations.

Will you be publishing the Articulation list soon, that would be interesting...and wouldn`t give away anything in regards to the number of samples i think?

Please put us out of our misery and give us the competition results. I never win competitions but I feel like I'm dying here...

I was (humbly) wondering,  does the choir have a "Wordbuilder" like EWQL?

Though even if it does not (yet) I totally disagree with that previous post which pontificated pretentiously that VSL should not do a wordless choir because then they will be contributing to "Wordless Choir Banality" or whatever .  What a bunch of bullshit!   I would LOVE some "Wordless Choir Legato Banality."  Because guess what - single note NON-legato sampled choir that is wordless OR with words SUCKS big time.

The VSL legato choir sopranos, thought they were very small in terms of sampling, are still superior to all other sampled choirs.   Because for the first time in history they sampled vocal legato which is the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT IN SINGING!

There was no pretense in my post, and as far as pontificating... I could take that from almost anyone else on this forum, just not from the arch-pontiff.

Now, I agree that "single note NON-legato sampled choir that is wordless OR with words SUCKS big time". When did I say any differently? All I was doing AFTER CONGRATULATING the company for its new release, was nudging them to invent something like the VI player that would add words-capability, to what I am sure will be an excellent choir box, consistent with all their hitherto releases. As a long term customer, I also added that I would wait until then to purchase their offer; I am sure VSL welcomes all market-share wishes and comments. If I am the singular minority in this, then great for them, I'm very sure by now they know what they are doing.

As far as their "contributing to Wordless Choir Banality", they are doing that inadvertently, by providing supremely untalented composeurs the tools to subject us to such turgid abominations as are most B/C-grade movie-soundtracks. People don't know how to evoke fear, greatness, or a religious experience without immediately resorting to the wordless choir... Such falling back to the cliche, to the absolute lowest common denominator compositionally infuriates me! And - like I said before - that is allowing for the odd exception. However, that was a bit of a joke that was lost on most it would seem. I just wish I can avoid listening to the compositional hilarities that will spring from this latest release. I can only hope that at least one of the upcoming demos will be a JB rendition of a tasteful piece, and after all, everyone here has been allowed to voice their aesthetic opinions forcefully, and often aphoristically. I don't see what should keep me from doing it.

If you can't notate/MIDI it yourself, it's NOT your music!

I remember from reading a post a number of months ago that the initial release of the choir would be one without a wordbuilder, but that a wordbuilder might be an option for a future upgrade.

Hey Herb - how's the schedule?  When will Illio over here (USA) have their hands on this one?

The quiz page mentions multiple interval performances, which I assume means legato, and it says no word builder.

No pretense?   Ha-ha!  Though yes, some excellent pontificating I must say.  I particularly enjoyed the turgid abominations and composeurs.  For those who pose as com-POSE-ers prior to decom-POSING.

I am eager BTW to contribute to Wordless Choir Banality.  My favorite Wordless choir is not Debussy Sirenes, but rather the main title of Wizard of Oz with its ferociously wailing wordless sopranos using extreme portamento.  Love it.

True, would you like to try mocking that up though? Lots of work.... I guess one of the immediate choices for the non-classic demos will probably be Alexander Courage's Star Trek, although I would love to hear The Secret of NIMH done by one of the top people here...

My apologies for the delusions of grandeur.  I received the medications but was released a bit early from the straitjacket.
