  • Please Help me, I can't add instrument to my Vienna Ensemble

Hi, I really need help I don't know what wrong with my Vienna Ensemble It isn't working actually We will see a little square icon at the below on left corner. There is no a little square for add Instrument? 1. It seem like it can't found my Vienna Instrument !! ( new version ), but my VI stand alone is work just fine. What I have to do? 2. My Vienna Ensemble Pro also can't found my Vienna Instrument ( it found just old version )Even I have VI new vision in my computer already Actually it has 2 little square icon but, my Vienna Ensemble Pro show just one!! How could I fix this problem ?? I'm sure that I already have install Vienna Ensemble Pro and all library licenses.

  • Make sure to install the latest version of VE Pro as well as VI to make it available inside VE Pro.

  • Same problem here  . Can you explain further with more detail? Since upgrading to VEP 5.1 none of the Epic orechestra instruments I had in some  previous projects show up in VEP . How do I get them back in there so I can add a Vienna instrument? My Play libs etc.  show up fine. Do I need to download the epic Orchestra again? It is still on my sample hard drive .

  • Chlady,

When you upgraded to VEP 5.1, did you reinstall VI ?

VI is no longer included with VEP 5.1 and it must be reinstalled...

  • No I didn't reinstall ithe library. So That's my question , do I need to redownload the epic library or is there a way to reinstall from the library on my external HD? Is there any documentation about this anywhere that explains this procedure for 5.1?

  • Chlady,

No, not Epic Orchestra... The Vienna Instruments Player must be reinstalled.

The Vienna Instuments Player is no longer included within Vienna Ensemble Pro 5.1.....

For some reason they call the player "VI or Vienna Instruments", which causes confusion because in this case you consider Epic Orchestra

to be your collection of Vienna Instruments.

In your user area go to:        Software / Vienna Instruments  and download this.

  • Ok thanks Mike, that did it and my epic orchestra is now up and running again in VEP after reinstalling the vienna instruments player. It would be nice if VSL was a little more clear about all of this since it all changed after upgrading from Ver. 5 to 5.1.

  • Great,

Yeah, I love all my VSL products. But will never understand the decision to call the player "Vienna Instruments."

  • Hi,

quick attempt of an explanation: You are actually learning and playing the "Vienna Instruments", the software. The cool thing is that you can fill this meta-instrument with such a variety of virtual instruments. We also wanted this to be a reminder that we were always aiming at much more than "just another sample player".

  • Paul,

That was actually a solid explanation, and you have succeeded in creating much more than a sample player.

But you must admit, for some, the title causes a bit of confusion.

  • Hi,

I admit that I agree that new concepts often create a bit of confusion [:)], but once the dust settles....

    Hello Steven,

Please uninstall the installed VI Player with the included Uninstaller. Which version are you actually using?

OS X 10.4.11 needs one of our legacy versions that can be found in the software archive.

    Paul

  • Paul, Thanks. I'm using the Vienna Ensemble player. I am in touch with the tech 2 ILIO. They are herlping me thru the legacy stuff, Steve

  • Should I uninstall, then reinstall the Vienna Ensemble?

  • Hi Steven,

Yes, uninstall the software with the included Uninstaller first, to be safe.

  • Sorry to bug you again Paul, FYI, Austin @ VSL tech asst has been great. I'm using Special Edition 1 PLUS on a G5, Ptools 7.3. I unzipped the instruments onto a FW drive(from a USB stick) using a friend's laptop @ OS 10.6. This was Austin's workaround for my OS 10.4.11 G5. Then I plugged the FW drive into my computer, ran the directory manager. My licenses are there just no sound. Also I'm running VE as a stereo rtas plug with I assume is what you do in OS 10.4.11. That's where it appears. Do I need to run it as a multichannel RTAS pugin? If so I'm lost til I get hold of my PTools folks at Pacific Pro Audio here in Seattle(monday). I never installed the 5.1 stuff which is where I believe the multichannel rtas lives. Thanks, Steve

  • Hello Steve,

    You unzipped the sample content??

The installation actually needs to be done with the LIBRARY INSTALLER that comes with Vienna Instruments. Please check if there are *.dat files on your firewire drive.

A G5 is of course already a very old machine. Let´s focus on the instruments first, then take it from there.

  • Hi Paul, Again thanks for your help. I believe I used the library installer correctly to unzip the files. I'll have access to that "modern" computer later today if you think I should try "reunzippiing" the sounds. The sound files on my FW drive have a "blank box" icon followed by "SE_Volume-1_Brass_01.dat". Is that correct. Thanks, Steve BTW that's Austin at ILIO in LA, not VSL. We still haven't heard anything from Vienna.

  • Paul, BTW the G5 is a 2x2.66 dualcore Intel Xeon. mem 4 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 FB-DIMM
