In Mainstage you define a Patch list / song list
Look at this video

For each item of the Patch/song list you define the setup of your keyboard
So when you are live you just select the song/patch, you do not have to fiddle the buttons
On the attached file, they use the Patch/song as an instrument selector
I hope you are going to be compatible with NI NKS ;) it will be so helpfull for playing live
With my band we are not using VSL because it is too complex to use it live, With VMO and NKS it will much more simple
