I've been struggling with this issue for a while now. Unfortunatley a deadline is now looming and I'm stuck.
Generally I'm getting amazing performance from VE Pro, a 2013 12-Core/PTHD 11.1.3/Yosemite 10.10.1.
One BIG problem though. Whenever Pro Tools changes tempo, I'm getting clicks and pops from the instances of Kontakt running in VE Pro. It's especially noticable on rallentandos.
I can see the Kontakt instances in VE Pro follow the PT tempo changes so it is obviously syncing to Pro Tools, its just that I get the clicks and pops whenever this happens.
Any ideas?

You might try to see if any of the problematic instruments/sounds has convolution reverb in the sound. It's my experience that it can cause crackles and pops, when you change the tempo of an seq. because the reverb is going to recalculate the space, or something like that. ;-)
You can bounce to audio and put the reverb on from PT maybe.

Thanks Stig.
Good call but no convolution reverbs in Kontakt invloved. I'll bear this in mind for the future though. EVERY Kontakt instument is clicking and popping in VE Pro when there's a tempo change in PT.
My current workaround is to load the Kontakt instruments in Pro Tools instead. Far from ideal although PT11 is maturing into a pretty impressive VI host here... (apart from BFD!)

I had a similar problem recently with an older VSL plug. I think it was the hybrid reverb that was causing popping noises. That's been uptdated since .. but you might want to try isolating the various plugs you're using and see if you can find which one causes the pops to start when the tempo changes.
It's not likely a disc speed problem as PT 11 is pretty good for dealing with RAM and CPU.

This has been a problem for Cubase users as well. The two solutions are:
- Make sue that you only have tempo sync switched on in Kontakt when you absolutely need it
- Don't use tempo ramps. Use jumps.

I'm getting the clicks on tempo jumps as well as ramps.

Yeah I dont think its a disk speed issue. I'm using a Sonnet 8 bay disk expansion chassis in an xMac Pro server and performance is oustanding. Im getting thousands of voices of polyphony.
As I mentioned, without tempo changes in PT I dont get the clicks.
I have no reverbs running in VE Pro including ones internal to Kontakt.

OK, have you checked what happens if you don't use patches that have sync on in Kontakt?

Just had chance to check. If I turn sync OFF in the Kontakt instances running in VE Pro then the clicks stop!!!
I wonder if this is a NI or VSL issue?

It's a Kontakt problem. NI is aware of it, but hasn't yet acknowledged if/when they are going to fix it.

Please also try manually disabling App Nap for your VEPro apps.
