I have been working with the special editioni n sonar.  In my midi trracks I havebeen trying to switch back and forth among the various articulations by setting midi notes into the piano roll view.  No matter how I set the keyswitch, nothing will affect the sounds.  Now my original legatos change from stacatto to sfz without any coaxing from me.

HELP

You are probably setting or playing the wrong keyswitches. Remember, no matter what Sonar tells you, Middle C is C4. Play in the correct octave, and all should be fine.

Well, I am not sure this is the problem.  I set the keyswitches according to the matrix, I even check it out by playing it on my keyboard and watching the patches change.  Then, I add the midi note, by hand, to the piano view.  The computer recognizes it as it passes over, but nothing changes.  I have tried with the keyswitch icon pressed and unpressed.  Also, it seems that keyswitches from one patch may be affecting another, I have been following the instructions someone gave to me about having the inputs to all patches midi-omni.  Was that wrong?

OK, have a look at the piano view as you play the keyswitches. I'm sure that you are putting them by hand in the wrong place. Alternatively play them in, just to test them, and see if they come in the same place.

OK - I did play in the Keystroke triggers and, for the most part, they worked.  Here is the new problem. For some reason, maybe I am being careless somewhere, When I apply a controller to one track, it affects another track. I am not leaving the other track armed, so it is not a matter of recording on two tracks.  Does the Echo-on have anything to do with this?  Does one VI instrument affect another?  I would hope not, but I am really having trouble with this.  ANY help would be appreciated.

I work in Sonar and you have to be carefull at times because you can highlight multiple tracks and be recording midi in a different track than you think you are in.  This might slow your process down a little,  but it would ensure you are recording midi on the intended track...GO to Options>Global Options>General Tab and uncheck the "Allow Midi recording on an unarmed track".  Go to the Cakewalk forum and you should get plenty of help if my suggestion does not solve the problem.
