Subject says it all, but I'm wondering what would give the best performance for a large orchestral template: running many different instances of VEP (say 6-10 instances) or one very large instance. Would it make a difference? If multi-instane is the way to go, how would you configure the multi-threading for each instance?

There are many variables. PC's tend to do better with less Instances, and Mac's like many smaller instances.

Machine specs, libraries, concurrent threads, track count, hardware...all things that can contribute to your setup. It is mostly trial and error to see what works best with your unique workflow.

I know it isnt really a straightforward answer, but "it just depends".

DAW = Cubase Pro 9.5 & WaveLab 9.5
VEP Master = Windows 10 Pro - i7-5960x - 64GB Ram
VEP Slave = Windows 10 Pro - i7-6950x - 128GB Ram
Dell P4317Q & UP3216Q 4K monitors
Audio Interfaces = DigiGrid IOXs
