I've been using VEP and VIP for what seems like -forever- but I'm clearly not 'getting' something pretty basic.
1. When I save an Instance of VEP does it or does it not save ALL the slider settings for each loaded VIP instrument?
2. When I load a saved Instance of VEP and then load a Cubase project (CPR), what settings do I need to enter in VEP to make sure that when I save the CPR it will -override- the VEP Instance and save all the sliders on each loaded VIP Instrument?
What I'm getting at is that I have a standard VEP Instance I've used for a looooong time but I've been changing the settings of a couple of VIP instruments and it doesn't seem as though those settings (Volume and Exp) are being reloaded by VEP when I next start up my DAW.
Do I need to make an explicit automation entry into every Cubase MIDI track to set a starting Vol and Exp value? I sure hope not.
My guess is that these are total noob questions. I just got started with something that 'worked' 5-10 years ago and never had the need to memorise the underlying concepts. I beg yer patience.
TIA,

The state you saved it in should hold.
I just tested it, a couple of things... a CC11 scaling curve and a slot fader in the mixer of VI Pro 2, for two different instruments and the instance of VE Pro 6 opened with the new settings. I don't have to think about this, everything I use is going to be from a Cubase project, I don't look at it otherwise but that's my results.

Hi,
I'm still a bit skeptical. I'm on Windows. The only two parameters I'm trying to 'remember' are Vol (7) and Expression (11).
When I load VEP, I have the 'Preserve' box checked.
I then load a VEP preset which loads values for each instrument.
I then load a Cubase 10 CPR which I -expect- to override the default value for Vol(7) and Exp(11) for each instrument, but it doesn't seem to. Instead, it seems to simply stick with the default value of the VEP Preset.
Hope that made sense.
What am I doing wrong?

This will ensure that VEP keeps the samples loaded in memory – and it will not read settings from your DAW unless you tell it to.

Yep. You have the choice to keep the VEP settings, or load in the settings from the DAW.
When you load your DAW project which has VEP, you'll see the "Load plugin data" button (down arrow) light up. Press it and choose "Load incoming project data", and VEP will read the settings from the DAW project. If you don't want the settings from the DAW, you can choose "Discard plugin data."
This is explained in the section "PRESERVE, DECOUPLE, CONNECT AND DISCONNECT – AN OVERVIEW" of VEP manual, p57 of English version 3.1. WOW. I have a much older version of the docs (I'm stilling using VEP 5) and it is nowhere -near- as clear as this. THANK YOU. I wonder how much the concepts are the same between VEP 5 and VEP 6?
