Is the VSE supposed to substitute and be the end of the line for Opus 1 and 2 ?

End of production for Opus 1 and 2 ?
-
opus 1 is finished but will you do a opus 1 instrument ? or is it special edition who replace it ?
Thank you [:)]

yes i have seen special edition, but i have yet solo string, guitar distortion and sax.
i don't need piano, guitar nylon and organ so , what can be interristing for me is the opus bundle i have with vst instrument version , just that.
So my real question is : does the special edition have all the opus bunddle inside or does some sound missing ?and what about the sound quality beetween the opus and the special edition ?
Thank you

Hi Thierry,
Some Opus articulations are indeed missing in the Special Edition. As I interpret Herb's first response above SE is the replacement for Opus and there will be no other Opus-like collection (although the possibility of later add-on packs to SE was mentioned in the thread I linked to above). I'm an Opus 1+2 user contemplating whether I should upgrade or not. This is how I see it:
Positive:[list:70101cc170][*:70101cc170]24 bit samples instead of the Opus 16-bit ones (decompressed in real-time so the RAM requirements shouldn't change much)
[*:70101cc170]Many more instruments. In particular the broad range of strings, French Oboe and Epic Horns seems nice.
[*:70101cc170]Better workflow and easier articulation switching using the VI sample player.[/list:u:70101cc170]
Negative:[list:70101cc170][*:70101cc170]Some articulations like trills, pfp, flautando etc. not included.
[*:70101cc170]Needs much harddisk space since one will not be able to completely uninstall Opus 1+2 - something I could live with though.
[*:70101cc170]I might need to buy some convolution reverb effect since I've previously relied on the one in Kontakt2.[/list:u:70101cc170]
Regards,
Nils

The Special Edition is too light in articulations in its current form to really be a replacement or 'upgrade' for Opus, especially those of us that have both I and II... I like the concept of the SE, and all the extra instruments and chamber strings (even the bonus appasionata patches) are very desireable additions in my view - but without those other articulations, it is too lacking in detail per instrument. Especially since it has been stated that there will be no further upgrade scale from this set to the full vi packages... if 'this is it' for us poorer VSL users... [:O]ops: [:'(] a more complete basic pallette would make all the difference.. if at least the articulation set of Opus were matched, the SE would be a very impressive contender for both upgraders and new users.
