  • VI Samples behaving weird

    Hi! There...

I have just got new VI stuff afew days back. I installed everything except Woodwinds 1 and 2 before.

And I played Brass 2, Appasionata and everything - it was all fine.

I had problems installing Woodwinds 2 before - After installing disk 1 - it asks for disk 2 - and then it asks for disk 2 again! So first time I got confused why it was doing that and stopped the installation. Then I repeated the procedure - this time when it asked for Disk 2 - after just using Disk 2 again - I inserted Disk 3 - and it accepted the disk and changed the number to 3 - all went well. It was all good. After that I installed Woodwinds 1.

But now - the entire library is messed up.

    1. It takes quite long for VI to load up.

    2. None of the samples are playing the way they should - Legatos are all sustains with weird attacks and nothing is just right. And this is the same for all the samples I have been able to test so far.

One thing I should mention is: I have split the samples over two different drives.

The first is an Internal SATA 2 7200 16 MB cache with enough space.

Second is an external WD My book pro 7200 16 MB Cache.

Earlier I was using Brass 1 and Orchestral Strings 1 and it all worked perfectly well.

Ever since I have installed Woodwinds 1 and 2 - nothing is working properly.

    VSL - Help!

    Thanks.

    Best,
    Tanuj.

  • By the way, though it's OK to have various VI collections installed on different hard drives, I wouldn't have thought it was a good idea to split the samples from a single collection across two drives.

  • Hi Tanuj, that's great. Could you tell us how you fixed the problem in case the same thing happens to someone else?

  • I just had the same problem. When disc 2 is done, it asks for disc 2 instead of 3. Then when disc 3 is done, it asks for disc 3 again (but it means 4 I'm sure). This must be a bug - but almost a year has gone by.

So what are the consequences of this? How does it mess things up and how do I fix whatever problems this caused?

Or is it just a simple numbering error?

I just bought and installed quite a number of Vienna Instruments. I also noticed that the installation prompts you to insert the same disk you just loaded. Clearly an error in the manufacture but I was confused at first. I am presuming that a lot of boxes were sent out to distributors with this flaw. Mine were quite old since the software included is old - I bought from Time and space in the UK. I wonder if VSL have fixed this yet?

  • Deja Vu....now I'm seeing duplicate messages too. Must not be getting enough sleep....

  •  The latest software installer from http://vsl.co.at/en/68/375/377/239.htm has this bug fixed!

Our sincere apologies for the inconveniences!

    Best, Marnix
