  • VSL doesn't rely on hype!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but VSL as I've seen doesn't hype their products. If there is any hype to be done, it's done through user demos and actual uses and applications. VSL relys on these demos much more than their own programmed demos (that sampling companies do to hide the flaws)

I've been trying to find somewhere to say this without offending anyone..

but I'm sick and tired of various sampling companies (not VSL) hyping their projects beyond what they are.

A certain sampling company that I have been buying from, continually keeps saying things like:

"This is the first time anyone has done this."
"No one will ever come close to this library."

When in fact, they aren't entirely true. I've seen statements (yet a little more professional) by VSL, but guess what? It's true in most cases.

Not to mention when you question the developers and they get all offensive is kind of wrong. I've seen it too much, and it gets on my nerves.

As much as I want to say who I'm talking about, I dont' know if this is the appropriate place.

However, the point of this post is: Thank you VSL for being an honest company. And at least giving us the chance to hear every single nuance of your librarys so we can decide for ourselves. Although it's more money, personally it's the best commercial VI someone could buy. And I speak that from experience (Full Cube Extended Edition owner)

  • Sorry, I was a bit disgruntled when I wrote that. But I stand by what I said about VSL being fair.

  • Well, I have to add that VSL is one of the few companies in existence, that actually does not need any hype. What they do normally, on a day-to-day basis, is beyond hype. So they can simply relax and continue doing what they do and all digital-virtual-musical people (the only really cool people in the universe) continue to salivate for it.

  • Well said.

Although I would say I don't salivate. I just get rather aroused...

  • Sonrise, which company is doing the hype?

Not to name names, of course. [6]

  • I really don't know if it's smart to say as it would start a discussion that VSL might not want on their forums.

Ok, so let's be realistic. Sampling is like any other business. They will always tell you your product is better. But there is a difference between doing is professional and well...stupidly.

I guess I'll pm it to you.

  • thanks for keeping unnamed companies unnamed - but to avoid such an inconvenience in the future VSL will seriously consider to hype the products a little bit in the future [:P]

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • cm,

That wouldn't irritate me as much as say you guys getting defensive in the most unprofessional manner if we were to question you librarys, and point out flaws. You don't get defensive, you actually work to get the problem fixed.

Not to mention you put out numerous patches and fix your librarys before making more of them.

It's actually hard for me to find flaws in your patches (only a few)

  • In my experience as a consumer, this is very true. The closest I've ever seen VSL come to hype was in the 2 weeks before the release of the VI's, with the countdown and 'new clue' appearing in the flash screen on intro page every day [:D] Such fun!

But VSL could employ this little bit of hype because the loyal market they've earned could trust that the products were almost finished, worth 100 times the hype (love the Solo Strings), and worth the wait.

There's something about that Contrabassoon that, well, erm...........

    [[:|]] [H]

  • Alex

I beg to differ. While yes the contrabassoon has certain... qualities, shall we say ... there is nothing in all of music to match the sensual, sultry, ravishing and actually quite immoral sound of the bass flute. A simply lascivious instrument, which really ought to be banned by the Legion of Decency. My favorite of all instruments, of course.

When you've got a product that speaks for itself, no hype is needed! [:P]

  • Also,

    'Demos Coming Soon', and

    'Products available shortly',

    .... pffft.
