  • Upcoming Podcast show 40 (Interview)

Hi everyone. I've just completed an interview with Greg Smith, who is a composer and orchestrator and he kindly consented to talk to me about his work on the Star Trek TV shows as well as other aspects of his career. Recently he conducted the re-mastered Original series theme so if any Trekkies are out there this is a good one to listen to. I still have to edit it down to size so it will be a few days .. also I'm bottom lip deep in music work on Starship Farragut .. something else I'm gonna talk about on the show so please bare with me .. but I thought you'd like a heads up on what's coming up. Talk soon. Heto

  • Hey Hetoreyn. I always have the darnest time typing your name correctly. Anyway, I got my Chamber Strings Standard, my very first official VSL product! My next purchase will be Percussion Standard. I will be using a lot of other libraries with VSL. Are there any guidlines I should watch for if I want to submit something to the show? Because my use of VSL products will probably put it in the background of the music while the other libraries are up front.

  • Hey there, Whilst I prefer to play things written with the VSL there really is no law or rule saying that I won't play anything else. You can submit stuff using other libraries .. synths .. coconut shells and your grandmothers knees if you like. I think the only rule per se is that you have an interest in the VSL. The podcast is for composers most of all .. and of course I made it to appeal to the modern composers needs .. IE technical tips, blurb on new things .. how to publish music .. and of course showcasing new stuff. So feel free to submit anything you like. Ands gratz on your new libraries.

  • Sorry for the wait on the new show everyone. Gregs interview is an hour long and so I'm having to edit. Also Starship Farragut is keeping me pretty busy. Heto

  • Hey guys, The interview i now editted and I'm awaiting word from Greg to approve it for publishing. I think you guys are gonna love this is e really gets into Trek talk and lots of stuff about his career. Also .. I want to mention this cos I'm very excited .. Jay Chattaway .. (Yep .. THE Jay Chattaway) has also just consented to grant me an interview, and I'm hoping to do this sometime in Late October .. it of course depends on his schedule. So lots of exciting things coming, and certainly lots of Trek Orientated music discussion ahead. I am planning to get the new show out in the next few days, but I'm also very busy myself with Starship farragut. Which is also something I want to discuss on the podcast because this has really supplied some interesting things about movie scoring that I think you'll enjoy hearing about. So .. coming very soon .. Greg Smith. Hetoreyn
