  • Solo Cello sustain issue ?

Hello, I am having a small issue with sustaining on Solo Cello Perf. Legato patch and I hope I can explain what is happening. I am using the L1 VC Perf-LegatoSpeed+PortaMatrix on the Solo String Library. What I notice is when I have a short note immediately played before a long note, the short note affects how long the long note is going to sustain. This is what I have:

I have a long note 3 1/2 beats then 2 short 16th notes, then a long note which is 2 measures long. When I play this pattern the last long note only sustains for 1 measure and not the full 2 measures as I have programmed. However,if I delete these two short notes, or I start playback right at the start of the 2 measure long note, the note will sustain for the full 2 measures. My project is at 93 bpm. I guess, I am trying to understand what I am missing as far as the release samples and stuff. I hope I have made this clear enough for anyone to help out. Thanks so much for any tips.

just to update: this behavior is the same for all Solo instruments(Violin,Viola,Cello, Bass)

  • The first note you play is a start note. This is a different sample from a note that you play legato to. The start notes are longer than the legato notes. In order to get the length of note that you require, you either need to use a sustain, or a legato note and then quickly xFade to a sustain.
