  • Special Edition & VE2 Configuration

Hey guys, It looks like I need a tiny bit of help here in setting things up. I'm trying to configure a master/slave scenario with a Mac and a PC. I'd like to setup my Mac Mini as the master running Sibelius and a Vista 64-bit PC as the slave. Below are the steps I've taken for each. Everything appears to be setup properly on the PC end from what I can tell. On the Mac however, I'm getting some errors. As soon as I launch Sibelius, VE2 starts to launch as well and then I get a Syncrosoft POS Error Message (File Synsoacc.bundle could not be located in the Application Support folder). My understanding is that Syncrosoft doesn't need to be installed on both computers...only on the computer where the samples reside, which in my case is on the Vista PC. After ignoring the error and Sibelius launches, I get a Vienna Ensemble Service window with an active instance, but the VE2 main window indicates that I do not have any licensed libraries installed. Within Sibelius, the Vienna Ensemble Server Interface shows that I am currently connected. What am I missing here? Do I have to install Syncrosoft on my Mac as well? It seems that VE2 is looking locally for my installed samples rather than remotely on my Vista PC. Is there a way to point VE2 to look across the network for my samples on my Vista PC? If I quit out of Sibelius and relaunch, the Vienna Ensemble Server Interface status now says "Vienna Ensemble Service is not available". Not sure where to go from here. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Jeff Slave PC: 1. SE & SE+ installed 2. Syncrosoft installed and recognizing both SE licenses 3. Directory Manager path set to SE & SE+ sample directories 4. VE2 installed 5. VE2 Service (64-bit) launched Mac Mini: 1. Sibelius installed 2. VE2 installed 3. Vienna soundsets installed for Sibelius 5.1

  • Sorry about the formatting above...my post got all bunched together for some reason.

  • Hey VSL team, Just wanted to bump this one back up as I'm pretty much dead in the water here and can't use my Special Edition library until I get some assistance with setting things up. Thanks! Jeff

  • Hello Jeff,

sorry for the delay, itĀ“s very busy here in Vienna at the moment.

You are right, you donĀ“t need Syncrosoft on your master computer - so why would there be a Syncrosoft Error Message, and why should Vienna Ensemble 2 start? Maybe itĀ“s a good idea to uninstall everything Syncrosoft related, if you donĀ“t need it. Otherwise, my colleagues at support@syncrosoft.com will know more!

I believe you want to use VE 2 on your slave machine, therefore you only need to launch the stand-alone version (not the Service!) on your 64 bit PC and then receive MIDI from your Mac Mini.

Remember that VE2 is NOT working over network, you will need a soundcard to feed audio back into your sequencer!

I hope that I understood your situation right.... and it helps a bit!

    Best,

    Paul

  • Thanks Paul for your reply. Perhaps I'm just not understanding how VE2 works. Regarding my Mac, I have not installed the Syncrosoft software on this machine. I've only installed VE2. However after installing and launching VE2 on the Mac, it starts scanning for a Syncrosoft license, which therefore produces the "Synsoacc.bundle could not be located" error message. I have VE2 running in stand-alone mode on my PC and I do have a soundcard installed as well, so it really appears to be a problem with the Mac. Is the issue that I am not allowed to run VE2 on a computer that does not contain a Syncrosoft license? I thought in a master/slave scenario that VE2 would need to be installed on both computers, however only the computer with the samples installed would need the Syncrosoft license software.
