  • Problem With SE and Chamber Strings Licenses?

Ok, here's my story, I'll try to keep it quick:

1.) Purchased Chamber Strings with a license key dongle. Installed and works fine. When I browse there are lots of 'L2' patches in there.

2.) Purchased SE. Installed and works fine.

3.) Started getting messages saying I only have XX starts left for certain patches. I ignored these messages because I thought they were referencing demo versions found in SE. and I had never gotten this kind of message before I got SE.

4.) Recently many of my Chamber Strings matrixes stopped working. Upon further inspection, I notice that it's not the entire matrix, it's that certain patches do work, certain ones do not. I notice that for th patches that don't work, I cannot find the patches - they don't seem to exist any more in the 'Patch Assing' tree view. I also notice that I can't find any of those 'L2' patches any more - nowhere. I can't say for sure whether all the patches that aren't working were 'L2' patches, but they may have been, I know I used many of them.

5.) I re-installed the entire Chamber Strings library from the DVDs so that it would re-instate the licenses, in case it was a problem becasue SE was installed second. But this didn't make any difference.

    So my questions are:

1.) Did I not own those 'L2' patches that came with Chamber Strings? Were those demo only?

2.) If I do own them, did the SE license clear them out in error? How do I get them back?

3.) If I don't own them, I'm confused. For instance, one of the patches I'm missing now is:

                   01 VI-6_staccato_short

Don't know if that was an L2 patch or not, but I look under my Chamber Strings folder now and I can't find that patch. Don't tell me Chamber Strings didn't come with something as basic as a short staccato patch? That can't be only in some extended library, can it?

Again, I'm not sure if it's really a problem with the L2 patches, just guessing.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it, I'm a bit lost.

    Thanks,

    Andy

    Dear Andy,

you purchased Special Edition Standard Library and Chamber Strings I Standard Library. The "full" versions of these products consist of the Standard and the Extended Library. Together with your Vienna Key you received a demo license to "test" the content of the corresponding extended libraries (marked as "L2" patches, matrices and presets). The demo license is limited for 180 starts and has obviously expired in your case. Details regarding the demo are explained on the product webpage of the ViennaKey:

    http://vsl.co.at/en/211/442/395/561/701/412.htm

We also mention the demo license on the very beginning of the manual for the Vienna Instruments, on page 3, and another time on page 7:

"With the demo license stored on your ViennaKey, you will have access to the
Level 2 Patches and Matrices for 180 starts, counting down every time you start Vienna
Instruments or load a Level 2 Collection or instrument. After this, Vienna Instruments reverts to
Level 1. Level 2 access rights can be purchased directly at our website www.vsl.co.at. If you
order a Collection from our website, you can purchase Level 1 and Level 2 functionality at the
    same time (Full Library).
    [...]
"Attention: Please note that if you are using demo content in your projects, your Vienna
Instruments Patches, Matrices and Presets for a saved project or even the project itself won't
load anymore once the demo license has expired."

    I hope that explains it.

    Kind regards,

    Maya
