Hi all,

for those of you that wish to use PLAY instruments in VE Pro, this is right now possible in the Windows version, with one little workaround. You have to start VE Pro in administrator mode. You can do this by right-clicking on the application and choosing "Run as administrator" as depicted in this image:

I then managed to get Play running without too many quirks, even in the 32-bit version of VE Pro.

Hey Martin - did you mean when starting the 32 or 64 bit 'server' or VEPRO instance?

Many thanks.

Rob

what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

I spent a day working with play 64bit through VE pro with no problems and then VE pro started to crash. Martin do you think that this has to do with some instability issues play might have? Also, I am running VE pro on Windows XP x64 on the slaves, and Windows XP x86 on the master. I am under the impression that the workaround you explained earlier is not valid for Windows XP, right?

We don't support XP64 for VE Pro. It might load and work, but it is completely untested by both developers and support staff - so I cannot recommend it.

I think that this is likely to be a PLAY related problem, as I have worked all day on XP64 with no problems. Touch wood. Wink

Then I shall invest some time and install Windows 7. MIR works like a dream on it.(so far - touch wood). My VE pro master machine is running under Windows XP 32 bit. Is that fine? thanks

I haven't been able to get this working on Win 7 (4881). Is this trick of running as administrator still working? Can anyone use PLAY in VEP?

Thanks,
Kevin L

I Haven't been able to get PLAY working with any of the recent VE pro releases. However, it works using J-bridge.

So odd.  I've never had any problem using Play in VE Pro on Win7 64bit.  The only suggestion I've followed is to put the Vienna Instruments at the end of the VSTs I load.

I've just finished building my new server (MASS - Main Audio Sample Server, a Dual Xeon E5530 on a Tyan server motherboard with 32 GB of RAM) and I moved there all my licenses (VE Pro and Symphonic Cube).

Now, I'm trying to configure Play as well and I read here that some users with my same configuration (Win 7 64 bit) managed to run Play under VE Pro. I'm not sure if there's something wrong with my Play installation (and update), but I always receive an error message when I try to load Play as a VST plugin under VE Pro. The error message dialog is blank, but the title reads "product not found".

I have to say that I installed and upgraded only the engine without the library, since I was moving the libraries from my previous server. But I don't know if this can be the reason of that error.

Any suggestion is more than welcome.

Thanks

Hello. I have Windows XP Home Edition running Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0.3. When you right click on the Pro Server Icon, it does not say "Run as administrator". It just says "Run as...". And none of the options under "run as" say "administrator". On my system, I am the administrator, so when I use the "Run as", it gives me 2 options. One option is to run as the current user. The other is to run as "the following user", and it gives me the option to choose the Administrator account and then I log in. After this, Vienna launches but as soon as I put PLAY into it, it crashed right away. Any ideas?
