  • Performance increase from moving from VE2 to VE Pro

I was wondering if anyone had run into this. I've been running my templates with VE2. I just recently picked up the VE Pro demo and when I moved my instruments over to it, I got maybe 20-50% reduction on my processor performance on the same project. Has anyone else noticed such a increase in performance using VE Pro over VE2?

It's still early in the game, but I too have noticed an increase in performance which really makes me happy.  I'm currently working on my first composition with VE-Pro having 42 tracks (instruments) loaded on a MacPro 8-core and two reverbs (far and near) with every track containing eq and all the other necessary Vienna Suite plugs.  I'm 100% VSL on this one and mixing in VE-PRO.  I'm only using the sequencer (Cubase) to sequence.  I'm using this approach to see just how far I can push VE-Pro.  So far, I'm using about 50% of my processor when the majority of tracks are playing.  I know, I didn't get that kind of performance before -- real happy here not to speak of the added memory I can now use on the Mac.  I bet it takes everyone else out there (sequencers ect.) a good year before they come close to allowing the Mac Guys to use all of their memory efficiently.  Try to put this stuff in the sequencer and it will choke for sure.  Keeping it in VE-PRO really improves performance.  At least that's what I'm seeing on this end.

Need to give praise where it's deserved!!!

    Hat's off VSL team!!!!

  • I might also add that I have all the basic articulations including performance patches loaded for each of my instruments, all saved to custom matrixes and have developed matching VST Expression Maps for each.  I'm getting real close now to a turn-key system that allows me to load it up in the morning and focus on writing and arranging music with very efficient workflow.  Loving it!
