    Hi

    Is there a limitation about the number of instance we could open in Logic pro 9 ?
    i have a Mac pro (last 2009) as master (Logic 9.02 / 16 Go ram / 10.5.8) with 2 VePro server open (32 and 64 bit)
    and 2 slave's PC with 1 VEPro Server each (64 bit,  Win 7 and 8 Go ram each)
    Due to some template organisation i build 29 instances (total in 4 servers), but when i open the first VePro plugin in logic and want to connect, it doesn't find any server and here comes the spinball.
    i have to force quite logic
    i began to delete some instance to find the limit, and it seems to be 25 (total in 4 servers).
    Could somebody confirm this ?
    i read somewhere in the forum that the limite is 32 instances
    is there something wrong with logic ?


    Another question, i began to built my template with 32 audio ports (16 stereo) but i would like to teste 64 audioports (32 stereos)
    But when i change settings in all my server (and quite and reboot), my logic template always see only 32 audioports in the logic Aux
    i began to build a new template (to test in a fresh one) but there is always 32 audio ports
    is this another limitation in logic ?

    HI ,

     I don't have as many servers,and I'm just using a mac pro 8 core at the moment. I built a template with 24 and VE wouldn't find the instances when opened in Logic. Strange thing though, when I opened logic on the master machine, it did. well I'm down to 14 instances now, which is stable. I could probably have more but need to work :)

    Right now, i m working with 19 instances, and all is fine.
    i prefer to stay far for the 25 instances limite i found, so i m sure everything is fine

    But i use a lot of Kontakt as Multi, so, due to the Logic midi limites, 1 Kontakt multi = 1 instance :-/,

    and i know that i sometimes need more than 25.

    it's strange that your server computer can see the 24
    is it something about the sequencer computer power ?
    is your server more powerfull than your master computer ?

    Anyway, how many audioport do you use ?
    Did you stay on the default 32 setting ?

    My net work master was a mac book pro, which only used logic. I am presuming it had something to do with the limits of the mac book pro , but I figured as everything else was on my slave it would be ok. 

    I left the ports at 32, but only because I don't like to move anything unless I have a reason as everything seems to have a knock on effect. There are so many settings within each DAW, VI , audio card, you can end up chasing your tail. 

    I would reduce them if i heard it was beneficial.

    I was disappointed with not being able to use more instances as it's so much easier to organize , but I think in the end it's the limit of Logic, which seems to be playing catch up with the whole 64 bit technology.

    I did find that moving the Kontakt buffer to 200, and turning of multi processor support made a big difference in performance.

    Thanks a lot for the kontakt tip,  i ll try that.

    Anyway, 32 audio ports per instance is a very good thing,
    i m really dumb, because i first believe it was 32 audio ports for the whole system !!

    VEPro, Logic 9 on the nehalem Macpro and the 2 servers PCs are very very stable and quiet.

    i have now a total of 20 instances,
    it's a real pleasure to work with.
