  • How can i use more than 16 midi channels in VE3 Pro

    Hello Guys,

i´ve got an problem in understanding how it works....

Well in the instruction of VE3 Pro means it that

    "Every Vienna Ensemble PRO-Instanz supports 32 MIDI-Ports per 16 Midi-channels"

So my question is know the follow.

In my sequenzer i can choose vienna esemble 1 for example as midi out and then i choose the channel. But it doesnt matter if i chooe vienna esemble 1 or 5.

So is it so that if i have the 17th channel that then i have to choose vienna esemble 2 and choose midi chnanel one... ist that right?

    all the best

    Chris

  • Dear Chris,

please have a look at this thread:

    http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/t/23023.aspx

The AU protocol that DP and Logic use to access virtual instruments only allows for 1 Port (16 channels) of MIDI. This is beyond our control...

    Kind regards,

    Maya

  • @ Maya

    Thanks for the info,

but i use Cubase and my problem is not that i only see one. If i set them two 32 i see in my cubase all 32 vienna esebmle channels. So i think that is a think with the protocol right?:)

  • Hi Planet,

you can access 8 MIDI Ports with 1 instance of VE PRO, when inserted as VST3 plug-in.

Each MIDI Port can manage 16 MIDI channels.

that means that i have to switch the in port to 1 for example and then the output to the one i have choose in cubase. Right?:) What´s the differents between vst3 and vst? will that be display if i choose the plugin? how it is markt?:)

  • VST3 is marked /// and it gives you multiple MIDI ports.

VST2 is not marked anything and it gives you one MIDI port.

many thanks for the explaination. The explanation above is right or is there something i would do:)

  • Hey Guys,

i have just tried and it´s even more better than you all say:)

If i do that like you said and use the vst3 plugin in cubase 5 and i set it to the hies level per instance. There it is 32 then, i can selected 32 midiouts in my cubase and in vienna esemble pro i can select 32 Midi ins:) so the good news There are no llimitations per instance. I can use theoretical 512 :) *areallyhappyuser* :D
