  • Discount policy for Special Edition customers

As a Special Edition customer, I'm interested in the details about the discount when upgrading to other VSL products. Are the following findings correct (I used the retail pricing as displayed on the web including local VAT):

    - No discount on bundles (packaged products) like strings package of 6725 euro, or super package of 15.380 euro's
    - Discount 'valid' for those products with instruments from the same family.
    - Discount on download instruments, strings being no download instrument
    - Discount on individual DVD products.

So it seems that, in order to get discount from my previous investment, I've to upgrade my strings by buying individual DVDs.

If I would do so, am I right with the following calculation?
The complete Special Edition for strings is 660 euro. If I want to upgrade to the full set of strings DVDs (harps excluded), the price will be 6520 euro - 405 euro discount = 6115 euro. So, I receive 405 euro discount by spending 6115 euro + 660 euro = 6775 euro. The 405 euro discount being equivalent to 6% of the total investment (and 61% of the pricing for the Special Edition strings).

Thanks for your reply in advance,

    Wim Dijkgraaf

  • Hello Wim,

Please check your email account, I just wrote you a personal message with answers to all your questions!

    Best,

    Stefan

  • Hi Stefan, please don't get me wrong on this one: Why are you writing a post on a public forum to inform everybody, that you just send a personal message to someone? I would bet, that Wim saw your email before he saw your post on the forum. Maybe there are a few people, who would also like to hear the answers to that question. Maybe that was the intention of Wim in the first place - to get this information to everybody. Now I can start to speculate what you might have written in your personal message to Wim: 1 ) "Good questions Wim, but we don't want to discuss this with everybody. Here are my answers to you..." or 2) "Okay, here is your special deal, but don't tell anybody..." Again, don't get me wrong. I can totally understand your pricing policy. I just don't get it if people write on a public forum, that they send a personal message. Why tell everbody? How should I interpret such a post? Greetings, Sabine

    Hey Sabine,

    Welcome to our forum!

Sorry that my post caused confusion and speculation, this was of course not my intention. In my experience, it's just way better to discuss sales-related questions on a personal level, that's why I always write answers to these questions via email. But so that other members of the forum don't think that we don't reply to these questions, I wrote a short reply in the tread, saying that I answered by writing an email.

Still, why answering per email, you might ask?

That's because there can be many, many different combinations of registered products, and they all affect the upgrade discount one specific user would get. My concern is that if I answer publicly to this specific case, other users might come to me and say "Wait a minute, why do I get a smaller discount like the other guy in the forum?". It just usually creates more confusion to answer publicly in the forum...

Generally, more information on our upgrade paths is available here.

To stop speculations, here's a copy of the email I sent to Wim. Please remember that a part of it (especially the discount) is valid for Wim only:

    Hello Wim,

I'm Stefan Steinbauer from the sales department of the Vienna Symphonic Library. I saw your post in our forum and wanted to get back to you on this issue personally, I hope you don't mind. 😉

Let me start by saying that you are referring to the downloadable Special Edition and Special Edition PLUS, both FULL Library, which is 660 Euros for the strings section.

Please take into account that the separate SE download products are a bit higher priced than when you buy the DVD collections of our Special Editions (as you get individual licenses with the download version).

Let's go to your message - you're writing:

    > - No discount on bundles (packaged products) like strings package of 6725

    > euro, or super package of 15.380 euro's

    > - Discount only for those products with instruments from the same family.

    > - Discount on download instruments, strings being no download instrument

    > - Discount on individual DVD products.

    - Discount on bundles: You do get a discount of 435 Euros (for the Strings Package Full Library), but unfortunately this discount is not shown in the webshop, for technical reasons. As soon as the products are in your basked, the discount will be shown.

    - You get an upgrade discount if you upgrade to any collection that contains instruments that are also in the Special Editions you have.

    - There is an upgrade discount on download instruments, and yes, there are no individual download instruments for strings.

    - Yes, you get an upgrade discount from our Special Editions to individual DVD products. The discount is applied to the Extended Library.

In case you didn't see it yet, more information on our upgrade paths is available on this webpage:

Yes, I confirm that that's all correct.

Here's a hint: The Strings Package is one of our bundles which means that you get a discount for purchasing many DVD Instruments at once. This discount is only applied to the Standard Library of our bundles.

In your case it wouldn't pay off to exclude the Harps from your purchase, because the total of the Strings Bundle (Standard Library) is only EUR 10 more than if you would purchase all strings products except Harps (EUR 3,370 instead of EUR 3,360)! So my recommendation is to get the Strings Package (Full Library) and to remove the Harps Extended Library from the basket afterwards - this way you will pay only EUR 10 more, but get the Harps Standard Library too! 😉

I hope that you find this information helpful.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance!

    Kind regards from Vienna,

    Stefan Steinbauer
