  • How good is Special Edition for cinematic percussion scores?

    Hi,

I have been away from scoring "cinematic" music to picture (been doing, pop, indie, electronica etc).

How good is SE Extended for doing percussion scores like trailer music and how does it compare to storm drums, drums of war, true strike etc?

Does anyone of you care to share a percussion score/track using only SE Extended?

    Thanks you!

  • I have SE extended percussion. It's rather thin really, particularly in the cymbals/gongs dept. There are some good hits in there, but it's VERY cut down. There are some things which might be unique you get in there but if you want this big 'storm drums' or say 'cinesamples toms' kind of sound it isn't really in there. The full VSL percussion however is Insanely Awesome; has some BIG DRUMS and a sound which beats about anything, and apparently every known percussion historically used with an orchestra, it's ridiculous.
