    My reaction was the violins could be a little louder and at the end the whole thing sounded a little too MIDI- perfect.   Maybe mess it up a little there? In the woodwinds/strings maybe (though I tend to mess things up a lot - maybe too much).   But overall it sounds very good and the woodwind lines sound great.

    Hi WIlliam, thanks for the nice words...  ;)

    My reference with Tchaikovsky is always DorĂ¡ti with the Concergebouw Orchestra... They just mess up very little ;-)

    Anyway the ending is the least realistic part... I think the part after the second reprise of the initial theme works best... :)

    I was curious how far I could go with samples... since thaikovsky likes delicate details in orchestration :)

     Yes, Tchaikovsky is one of the greatest orchestrators as well as composers.  For example the commonly played but brilliant Nutcracker.  But the ultimate is the 6th Symphony.  This is a masterpiece of orchestration that almost no one else has ever approached. For example the string "line" in the opening theme of the last movement, which actually is never played by any one instrument or group and yet is heard across the ensembles as a powerful single line.  or the 3rd movement which is the single most spectacular march ever put into a symphony.  or the ending with its slow massive diminuendo into nothingness.  No other composer has succeeded in doing what this symphony does.  Sorry - that is a little off topic but i agree on Tchaikovsky's subtlety and genius.

    Nicely done.  Enjoyed it.  I have the SE standard and Appassionata Strings.  Haven't got the hang of the light touch strings.  You seem to be well along the way.  A good post.

    Hi Bart,

    Really great performance here!  How long did it take you to do this?   As for Tchaikovsky -  amazing music. Orchestration and melody and harmony - all so brilliantly conceived. If he were alive today and scoring films, plus the influence of the 20th century techniques upon him, I wonder what he would be coming up with? I'd like to imagine it!

    Thanks!  I think I worked about three days on this including half a day to add some Vienna Instruments PRO features (which was only released one day by then) ;)

    And Yes... Tchaikovsky is still a hero
