    Title says it all...

    Why must I delete channels and/or have to deal with dialog boxes on every file load?

    Does VSL really think the users are so dumb they can't figure out how to add a channel? 

    VE Pro is the ONLY application that I can think of that pre-loads a default set of data, and you MUST visit a dialog box to "not save changes" for a simple open file command.

    This is not how the rest of the software world works -- and the amount of time each day that I have to read the dialog boxes and click adds up -- it also keeps the GEEk factor quite high. Can't you simply remove the default channels? Or make it an option, like most web browsers? I think most of us would choose "EMPTY" as our preferred default state.

    Dear VSL:

    THANK YOU for removing the default VI/VIpro instrument from new VE Pro server instances.

    HOWEVER, we are still left with a default bus in the otherwise empty viframe -- and any open or load command requires an extra "do you want to save changes" confirmation, for every load, for each slave.

    IF you were to simply make new blank instances truly empty (no default content), opening a saved viframe or metaframe would not require a visit to the dialog box for each server.

    If you make a new session in protools, it's empty.

    If you make a new document in word, it's empty.

    if you make a new document in any email client, it's empty.

    If you make a new document in just about any application ever made, it's empty.

    What is the reason that VE Pro must pre-install a default bus channel, that I would imagine just aout everyone deletes, by default? I really want to know!

    Can enough of us beg for this default bus to be removed for the next build, please?

    we´re doing our best to make you happy, and if possible, we´re also thinking about other users [:)]

    In our eyes, the master bus absolutely makes sense to stay available in every new instance. Especially for new-comers, but also for everybody who has been working with VE PRO for some months now. This way you can see and understand the basic routing right from the start => all signals are routed to the Master Bus Channel.

    But Paul, you know that I'm the only user that matters. 😉

    Your argument to have the bus as a default is very much from the, "my son is the only kid in the marching band in-step!" playbook...

    Name me a single application that pre-loads actual content into a new, default document (not loading a template, but a NEW document) that requires a dialog box visit if you want to open a file over it? You can't do that!

    Additionally, WHO SAYS that using a bus is a desired default routing method? I can name you a dozen perfectly great workflows, and ALL of them are "good" and "correct". And 11 of these workflows do not use a default bus. Especially routed to outputs 1-2. I would imagine that your VE Pro customers already use a professional host such as Cubase or Protools or Logic and we are all smart enough to make a channel and assign an output.

    ESPECIALLY NOW since you've done a superb job updating the VE Pro and VI Pro documentation. It's quite comprehensive now, and there is little justification to pre-load content of any kind. The user will RTFM and instantly know to add whatever their needs require. You have made a killer product with lots of flexibility and more than one way to get there.

    IMAGINE if you pre-loaded a preset or matrix or patch into a VI - you would never do that! Please, take this all the way and remove all default content. It really doesn't belong.

    FINALLY -- since many users will ultimately make their own default viframes and metaframes anyway, make it easy for us to load our saved default files without the extra step EVERY time.
